Worst television episodes of all time? - sitcoms/dramas/miniseries/you name it!

For the Simpsons, I know a lot of people usually go with The Principal and the Pauper, but my personal pick for worst episode has to be Lisa Goes Gaga. I can hardly even consider it a Simpsons' episode. It's just roughly twenty minutes of Lady Gaga getting her ego stroked hard, along with no rememberable jokes. Sure, the Simpsons were already in their "Zombie Simpsons" phase, but that episode was pretty much the final nail in the coffin for a lot of people who still watched the show.
Especially sad considering how good the episode with Michael Jackson was.

I've been debating posting about it. I don't even remember anything about the episode besides sucking so hard I stopped watching anything afterwards. Probably it was both being a Lisa episode (already bad enough) and the celebrity cameo being the entire episode rather than few minutes.
All PSA episodes tend to be bad, specially those involving drugs.

There is a Mexican novela for kids called Carrusel, based on an Argentina tv show about, a teacher and her students ("Señorita Maestra", if you're curious, also based on a book) and it's quite wholesome in general because it's about lessons on being loyal, friendship, family, etc.

So, they had their "drugs are bad!" episode (which didn't exist in the original Argentinian run, IICR) and I remember the black kid and the chubby girl being sold or given some sort of stickers that, if they put them on their skin, would get you high and violent. So, these kids who were overall nice kids suddenly started to talk back at their parents, being rebellious, and yelling at people, and they they got sick and had to take to the hospital to figure out that this was caused by the drugs they accepted from a stranger.

Look, I'm not an expert on drugs, but I've never heard of sticker drugs...
Tbf, if you make "X is bad" for kids, you don't want to educate them how to use it, and with drugs you really can't show how horrific the effects are, or how great the high feels.

On that note, any time a show has a very special episode about guns. Bonus points if the average day-to-day mechanics of the universe in the show involve things a thousand times more dangerous than guns. Looking at you, Static Shock and Gargoyles.

Finding out the network demands for Spider Man The Animated Series was both baffling and fascinating. Its like if Faye Dunaway was a corporate HQ, the number of demands they had. No guns, no blood, can't say die, no skimpy clothing, etc. There was a whole ass female villain they had to skip (I wanna say it was a vampire?)

Rewatching The Golden Girls and the number of oddities and continuity errors.....the ages of the girls and the ages of their kids for one thing. Blanche having two middle names (Marie and Elizabeth) and a different number of children depending on the season. Dorothy and Stan are married 38 years and divorced 5 years prior to the 1984 pilot and shes about 55 years old. If this is the case she would have been 11 in 1942. Also Rose's parents suddenly being revealed as foster parents. One minute its Bob Hope then the next its a monk. Yet in the first season her mom is Jeanette McDonald and referred to as her actual birth mother......

All the episodes of Outlander where the husband of the main character is portrayed as unreasonable for thinking it was fucked up to travel in time and screw a random scottish cunt, this is done WHILE he is raising the child she had with the scottish dude, who she just fucking goes back to after he dies.
"Wouldn't it be so hot if it wasn't my fault I had to fuck someone other than my husband? Also, time travel.": The Show.

Holy shit this dredged up a memory of mine where I got really drunk with these two chicks who insisted on watching this episode, and when it got to the actual argument I started chanting “cuck cuck cuck,” at the tv. It’s a wonder we stopped hanging out.

Can we expand it to basically every Lisa focused episode? Even the ones during the Golden years are sup par.

"Oh no I am such a know it all Karen bitch that nobody wants to sign my year book..will I change my ways? No I will just pretend to be somebody else for the summer so I can have temporary friends instead of learning anything."

Man, I like Summer of 4' 2". This does raise the big problem that they can't decide if Lisa is a grown-up or an eight-year-old. Self-reflection is something an adult should do. Pretending to be someone else to fit in is absolutely something I can see a maladjusted child doing.

I'm not defending Lisa episodes. I'm just saying they should have come down on one side or the other.

I think the episode would work better as a stand alone movie because at the end of the film you would assume the Lisa character had learned something.

The trouble with this story as an episode of a TV show is the character can't change so she has to go back to normal next week and the story is pointless.

I liked it until I started to post "Lisa the vegetarian " in this thread and i thought "was that really ground zero for Lisa's bullshit" and well her being a poser is kinda it

The 90s Spider-Man? Didn't that also give us hand-leech Morbius ("PLASMAAAAAAAAA!") and bolo canon Punisher? God, the way they hamstrung that poor show.

Ah, like the way they all learned something in the actual Simpsons movie?

When I said stand alone movie I meant a movie that uses the basic plots and character beats while having nothing to do with The Simpsons or any ongoing series.

The problem with the episode wasn't the writing or concept, it was that TV shows always have to return all characters to their starting points by the next episode.

A lot of people hated the Nikki and Paolo episode of Lost but I thought it was an interesting excursion. They're unlikable and die anyway so...
That episode is a long, comedic apology for putting those two awful characters in the show. It's genuinely great.

Lisa somehow does have continuity but in that the worst new aspects are kept between episodes, so she is vegetarian and Buddhist but never remembers the episodes she is a cunt and gets punished for it. At least in early seasons she was still somewhat of a normal kid, afterwards she became a super genius despite it not being funny or even unique.

Unsalvageable. They took the goatee from the comics and turned into a soul patch. That one decision turned me from a Marvel guy into a DC guy for a few months.

Gonna be fair with outlander: Claire didn't know if she could come back to her time and she had to marry Scottish for protection and because there was some plot to make him marry her due to his position in his family. She did try to return to her time even after she got married. She was with the guy for about two years and got pregnant twice. She only returned because she already lost a baby and thought their best chance to survive was to give birth in the future.

There's an entire episode where the ginger dude is held hostage by Tobias Menzies evil antagonist who rapes him repeatedly. On screen.

The entire series has a lot of rape in it you could easily say the author has a fetish for it.

Resident Alien S2E3 ‘Girl’s Night’.

The female cast and crew got to create an episode all of their very own and it was a steaming turd. The cast quickly turn to doing things like break and enter while handwaving it away, constantly bitch about male privilege (in a town most notable for a mine collapse that killed three dozen men), etc.

It was incredibly tone deaf and insulting and flew the misandry flag high and proud. Completely killed my interest in the show going forward.
Season 2 was already off to a weak start, and this episode also killed the show for me. The conclusion was so retarded, they steal the payroll information and are outraged that the sheriff is paid more than the deputy, and the mayor is paid more than the mayor's wife(who I'm not sure even had a real position), then air drop flyers about this to the whole town.

Also nominating the vote for Hillary episode in New Girl S6E02, where Jess spends the episode trying to get college girls to vote, going on about Democracy, but freaks out when those girls say they will vote for Trump.
