I saw posters for that movie everywhere, but I have no idea what it is about. Why did you hate it?
I enjoyed the movie a lot, but I can see why people hate it. Besides being a cast full of Asians, the plot is pretty much a generic romantic comedy. There’s a makeover sequence, shirtless men, extravagant parties, and a bunch of super rich people doing super rich people stuff. If you don’t like romantic comedies, you wouldn’t like this movie.

Slenderman

I genuinely enjoyed MarbleHornets, if this pre-SCP garbage never went mainstream it would have aged better.

Of the ones on this list that I've seen ... The worst for me is either Ready Player One or Venom. Maybe I hated Ready Player One more because it's SO fucking long ... Venom was at least under 2 hours.

Aw, screw it: Even though I haven't seen it, I'm voting for Holmes & Watson, because FUCK. THAT. MOVIE.

Jurassic Park should get a raspberry automatically for ruining any hope of Jurassic series being redeemed, I can't believe I thought thing would get better after World even afted TLJ should have taught me better (no I didn't watch but I did see detailed reviews)

I don't see Crazy Rich Asians on that list, and that's the cinematic equivalent to slitting your wrists. For all the hooraying about representation, all it did was make me hate the Chinese even more.

FWIW, the movie bombed in China itself.

I made the mistake of reading the book, though I've not seen the movie. My takeaway was that walking back the fascist dictatorship in Singapore was a mistake.

I just remembered, I also saw Pacific Rim: Uprising in theaters last year.

Yeah, that was a gigantic piece of shit and completely infuriating. I enjoyed the first Pac Rim, and wanted a sequel, only for us to get hit with that.

Be careful what you wish for.

Honorable Mentions: Ant Man and Wasp

Ant-Man and the Wasp had good action sequences. So many superhero films end with characters shooting different colored lasers at each other or just punching each other until the hero inevitably wins. It was nice to see a superhero film about characters who had to use their less-than-stellar powers in creative and intelligent ways to solve problems.

The action was okay until the whole "Hot Wheels Car Chase" bull. It's largely the pacing, mediocre VFX work and the fact that it isn't funny that's my biggest issues

Liked the first one as well but thought it never needed a sequel in the first place

Action Point, Best F(r)iends vol 1 (vol 2 had one character that redeemed it for me), and Happy Time Murders.

Kissing Booth was absolutely abysmal. I have no idea why I watched it because I'm not even particularly fond of high school comedies to begin with

A lot of the people who praise it because of Asian representation don't even bother with Asian cinema which is full of said representation. They seem to think the United States constitutes the whole world

It's a movie made by white people for white people with a American cast pretending to be Asians.

South Korea shits dozens of rom coms every year and nobody cares.

Americans are illiterate lazy fucks who are afraid of subtitles.

My pick for worst movie: Solo.

That's the SJW representation crap in a nutshell. They praise American movies / books when they have minorities but absolutely refuse to watch/read media made by these exact minorities outside the States. It's like they're terrified of actually searching for stuff or watching something with subtitles, or even something made with a non-American point of view. Sad, really.

Other movies I saw last year that were less than stellar were the Godzilla anime films that were released by Netflix.

I wouldn't say I hated them, but given what I expected out of a Godzilla anime series, they aren't great either.

Its a shame too because there are a lot of interesting ideas at work here. I especially like the idea of seeing what the monsters are like if they are allowed to evolve for 1000s of years and what they would turn into. Unfortunately, the movies just feel needlessly padded, move at a snail's pace, don't take full advantage of their ideas, and the 2nd film has a MAJOR disappointment that made me feel like the marketing for the film lied to us. I am also not a huge fan of the animation style used for the film. I would have preferred something more traditional in that regard. Heck, when I watched Castlevania, I immediately got jealous and thought why couldn't the Godzilla films look like this?

I'm watching the third film tonight. I doubt the series will be redeemed, but we'll see.
