Same goes for Birdman honestly. The originals sucked, but Attorney at Law? Priceless. The original Space Ghost was pretty terrible before it was turned awesome by making it a talk show and having guests who mostly had no clue what the fuck was going on.
There was this musical edutainment cartoon on WB a while back called Histeria that was... something else. Was basically if those educational bits of Animaniacs had a full fledged cartoon starring a fat baby that constantly shit himself and the old man that tolerated him. Shit was weird, and played right after school.
Wait, wasn't that one of 4Kids' acquired shows? Man, they managed to find a lot of crap (either pure or just weird) that wasn't their anime or Ultraman Tiga.Remember The Cramp Twins? Now that was... quite something. I think that show was one of the reasons why my mom had banned Sunday morning cartoons for a couple of years.
It's more of how one took a property and turned it on its head that made those shows worked.Same goes for Birdman honestly. The originals sucked, but Attorney at Law? Priceless.
They're certainly forgetable.Looking back in my childhood, most of the cartoons I loved then kinda look stupid now. Hammerman was mentioned, Captain Planet too.
That show had a lot of odd characters like "Miss Information" and "Kid Loudington". Each episode often covered different topics, and I can see what they tried to do there but I suppose it gets lost in the attempt at humor used (one segment that comes to mind for me was a job on the Cold War in the form of a sitcom called "My Buddy Stalin").There was this musical edutainment cartoon on WB a while back called Histeria that was... something else. That was "The Sweater", told from recollection by Roch Carrier, who apparently grew up in a very isolated Quebec town where the Montreal Canadiens were what everyone thought/talked/dreamed about. The sweater he received one winter day, and the story itself, is a historic view of the problems caused by businesses that weren't bilingual at all, such as with this Eaton's Dept. Store of Toronto, who sent the boy a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater instead, either out of not understanding his mother's French handwriting, or simply ran out of stock and thought a substitute wouldn't be a bad businesses move to do. Of course this was met with disdain out on the ice which the boy felt was the fault of having to wear the shirt among his friends who sided with the Montreal team.Anyone remember those cartoons from the National Film Board of Canada? There were a few good ones, but then you had one where a kid got the wrong hockey sweater, threw a fit, and got told to go pray to God for forgiveness.
I'm sure Cartoon Network did it's best to bring a lot of these down here to unsuspecting kids when they had "O Canada". Otherwise the only way I knew of any of these was tuning inbetween breaks on Showtime to watch them back in the 80's.There were other weird ones too, but some were pretty great. I still have that fucking black flies song stuck in my head.
Certain foreign cartoons tend to do that I notice.Never saw GoGoRiki (that ended up getting a weird cult following on YouTube for some reason,
I think I blotted Bratz out of my head for quite a long time before you dug that up! I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later. They also aired Bratz on the 4KIDS TV block for a short time.

Actually, You're right about Funky Cops, but only the 4Kids dub as far as I know. Doesn't exactly help that there's little trace of their dub lurking around on the internet.Never saw GoGoRiki (that ended up getting a weird cult following on YouTube for some reason, BlackBusterCritic mentioned it in a video), but oh God. Funky Cops I think was very short-lived anyway, but still.

I bet. When I think of an anime that would've been up 4Kids' alley (even if edited at all), it would be Kaiketsu Zorori. Somehow that came and went, yet it seemed like a sure fit for them. Also, holy shit. Please tell me they edited that show. Because that would be hilarious.
I'd love to see that!I'd like to do something Adult Swim-esque with "Captain N:The Game Master". It would be the sickest fucking thing ever on their channel, I would be so reviled.
So, I should start a kickstarter, then? I think Eggplant Wizard and King Hippo are going to be the standouts in my remake. Super fucking gay.I'd love to see that!

99/100 hanna barbera cartoons from that time span was shitThe original Space Ghost was pretty terrible before it was turned awesome by making it a talk show and having guests who mostly had no clue what the fuck was going on.
I'm not sure which is worse, Steven Universe, or Bubsy. One was longer, but while being shorter, Bubsy was more grating.I can't believe I almost forgot about the Bubsy pilot. It definitely deserves its infamy.

That alone brings up an interesting thought about other failed pilots as to which ones could've been good, and which ones deservedly got the axe like Bubsy.
I'll probably get shit for saying this, but I don't really care. I think Steven Universe is one of the worst cartoons I've ever seen. Worse than Teen Titans Go, if you ask me. At least that one got a response from me. Steven Universe was just the most boring waste of thought I've ever experienced. So much so that after binge-watching some episodes with a friend, it took over an hour of playing Doom 2016 for me to feel anything. On top of that, there's only one character that I cared about at all. All the others were either annoying or lifeless. People say that the show gets better after the first season, but when a show is pure boredom for about fifty episodes, I think it has lost any chance it has for forgiveness. I understand that things aren't always that great for the first couple episodes, but when it's about fifty, I tell the show and people who try to tell me it's good to go fuck themselves.
Is there worse out there? Hell yes. Is there worse out there that gets far more praise than it ever deserves? Not to my knowledge, but I could be wrong on that one.
The funny thing is that before my friend challenged me to actually watch it, I only shit talked the fandom and the art and character design. I actually had a negative relation with the fanbase, even if it wasn't the show they hounded me about. But my friend challenging me to watch it actually backfired, and I only ended up with an even worse opinion of the show.Feel not bad, but be proud, @Reynard...
Star Vs. and Steven Universe just about get my vote - despite some good ideas or moments here/there, both are horribly overrated bore-fests that really do their best to make me outright hate them, unpopular opinion or not.
When a show only does stuff worth a damn only a fraction of the time in any medium (these 2 being major examples), something just ain't right here. The sad part is both examples had potential to win me over, but in the end, it feels all for naught.
Maybe if neither show was so damn popular, and as a result, everywhere on the internet, as propped up as they are, I wouldn't feel this unfortunate urge to be typing all of this out. Who knows and who cares!
