Will edgy humor ever be mainstream again?

Yeah I do, but not in the form that we knew it way back when. It'll be something new.

Right now, the level of censorship and fake moral outrage reminds me a lot of the 80s/90s for the United states, instead of concerned pearl clutching christian women outcrying everything, its fat men in dresses with cheap wigs on twitter. Eventually some cultural shift will happen, probably with the future generation, where shitting and defying the previous generation becomes main stream just like it did before.

I've noticed there isn't a single successful truly edgy content creator or comedian anymore. Is edgy humor as a mainstream form of comedy ever going to go back to pre-2017 levels of acceptance or has the culture war and growing censorship online made it completely unviable?
Define "edgy humor", because I see plenty of edgy jokes just scrolling through YouTube community posts.
Never going to happen.
Society will collapse before that pendulum swings.
At this fucking point I hope it all crashes down, my own life and the lives of all other dependent speds be damned.
With Chris-Chan more or less pulling a miracle out of his ass proving that he is Jesus Christ,I say we as a species are BEYOND fucked.
Just come here, I'll make it all stop! FUCK ALL OF THIS SHIT LET. IT. ALL. DIE.
Go cry in a PM chain, this is embarrassing.

It's less of a question though if people on a personal level are edgy and more if there will be a way for mainstream entertainment to be more tolerant of edgy humor. Will there ever be another pre 2017 Idubbz/Filthy Frank content creator that becomes big? Will there be another South Park, Always Sunny style mainstream show?

It not that edgy humor is unpopular in culture, it's that it's actively being suppressed by HR catladys, troons, and jannies. They are the modern equivalent to nutjobs who thought that rock and roll was the devil. They are the exact same type of person: nasty entitled brainwashed midwits, with too much time on their hands. Loser kids who revel in narcing at school, grow up to be adult faggot narcs. The guy who pulls out the rules when he losing, because he NEEDS to win. They are the embodiment of "stop liking what I don't like".
What sane, well adjusted individual would choose to work as a rules Jannie? Normal people have better things to do.

Bottom line: comedians have bills too.
Filthy frank was consistently in trouble with "terms and service", making monetization difficult. It was part of the reason he switched to doing whiny sadboy music.
They are constantly going after Sam Hyde, and his ability to make money. look at the World Peace getting canned, despite its popularity.

Was there ever edgy humour? Pretty much all the edgy humour I remember fell into "Christians are the real evil", over exaggerated violence and abuse on children/animals. All of those are still around in series like Rick and Morty. Any attempt to laugh at a favourable group was way more infrequent and never went as hard as it went on Christianity and white people. At most you had some anti Islam shit after 9/11 that died pretty fast.

Would we ever be able to call people faggots again without getting into trouble?

Sam Hyde wasn't that funny. He's not fucking Rodney Dangerfield or Norm MacDonald. World Peace wasn't funny as much as I tried watching it. The funniest Sam Hyde thing is something that he had nothing to do with, the meme that pops up when there is a shooting. His fake Ted Talk had some elements approaching comedy, but he can't get the job done. He's the alt-right version of Hannah Gadsby. Someone losers pretend is funny because of the ideology behind it. I mean him getting in fights with people like Sam Bernstein and Tim Heidecker makes me want to defend him, but it still doesn't make him funny.

Agreed, though I think it's going to be less of a direct cultural backlash, and more of a case of "what's old is new again" and time marching on.

Recently, a very mainstream liberal hipster friend I have showed me some /k/ greentext he saw posted on Reddit. It was the "tally-ho lads" one about defending your house with Colonial-era weaponry. He thought I'd find it hysterical, despite the fact that it's from the mid-2010s and has been re-posted to fucking death. It then really struck me just how excruciatingly lame that whole culture is.

Now, that kind of goes without saying, but this time, I had a bit of a revelation. The cringe I was feeling wasn't just typical "God, Redditors are so fucking gay". It was the exact same nails-on-a-chalkboard feeling as watching a white suburban dad attempting to get into rap to try to relate better to his kids.

Dumbfuck liberal millennial normalfags on Reddit and Twitter of today are the lame parents of tomorrow. Rebellion will be less about free speech, and more about "My dad is in his late 40s and is still really into comic books and gets really mad about bad words, holy shit what a fucking loser."
But youth don't want to rebel anymore. Kids love the shit teachers get on their soapbox on in class. They seem like the "cool teachers."

I wish people would get it through their empty fucking skulls that there is no pendulum and there never was. You can't just cut politics into black and white sides like that, it's never that simple.

All of the culture wars shit is a distraction, if you take that away and purely look at both aisles monetary-wise they are exactly the same. Spend a whole ton of money the US doesn't have and pray/delude yourself into thinking it will last which it won't.

Now, if you ask me there will probably be a shift in Government, it's almost guaranteed just based on the current establishment aging so much. It'll likely coincide 2with a major cut in spending which will have to happen even if the Feds choose hyperinflation at first, probably at or near 2030. If spending gets cut to that degree the Federal Government will naturally lose a significant amount of control like a reverse of what happened after the great depression.
I disagree, the Newton law of physics apply to every where else too. There will always be an anti to a force and that anti will subsequently win. After that same anti becomes powerful it turns into a force which again will see the friction it causes creating the anti force.

Basically, humanity is like a snake eating itself and that's why life is literally called samsara.

To escape the repetition of life many religions ask their followers to remember God and see him as the superior being because they saw themselves unfit to rule. That why every society which later rejected God saw destruction because they gave power to unfit people like themselves.
This what schopenhauer called the pendulum of life. Where no is right or wrong and there is no happiness only going from boredom to pain( edgy ik).

I think it will fade and is already starting to. It's a weird thing where individually everyone agrees its retarded but publicly they will shuffle their feet and fall in line.

Give it a few more years. I don't think it will get quite as wild as it was but it wont be quite so pompous.
