(Seriously I got child molester vibes from that guy when I was a small child watching it on TV, I know why Roddenberry had the boy he named after himself have super special xeno dude say he had gnarly powers and shit.)

Catching up on the Thread.
The Funny thing about Wheaton's appearance on Picard it means his cameo that was cut from Star Trek Nemesis where he was a Starfleet Officer and there is even an extended version of the scene where you learn he's assigned to the Titan is now not Canon.
As for NuTrek Lower Decks was fun and you could tell it was made by fans of classic pre-Krutzman Trek, but it was too silly to ever be canon IMO.
Picard Season 1 is mediocre at best, Season 2 is a dumpster fire that breaks its own canon in story, and Season 3 was genuinely good Not TNG seasons 3-7 good but better than the 1st two seasons and as RLM said the best Trek film were ever got from the TNG cast. It was a good send off for that crew.
SNW is decent it has some good episodes but the millennial writing as mentioned hurts the show and it like all of current Trek has a habit to have characters act like Fanboys and Fangurls.
Prodigy perhaps the best Trek show of the era it felt like a proper sequel to Voyager and outside of Wheaton being in some of season 2 although animation made him more bearable than live action it's a solid entry in the franchise.
DISCO went from dumpster fire of dogshit to stupid sci-fi in its run. Just avoid this show and the Section 31 movie.
Oh, for me X-Fire jumped the shark with the reveal in season 7 that Mulder's sister was a walk in spirit shit although the following episode with Cops was funny. But overall, that's when I rolled my eyes and pretty much checked out.

Season 1 made sure to murder and castrate all your favorite characters.
Season 3 wasn't good it was fucking awful, but you are confusing "Nostalgia where the things I like and remember aren't being actively shit on" for "good" because modern output is so fucking garbage its lowered the standard for "good" from actually good to "not actively terrible"

Wouldn't we just say then "TNG season 1"?
(I've onlY watched like the first 2 episodes and the RLM reviews of the show. Other than the Romulan traitor chick being hot as hell, I saw nothing redeeming in the show and consider it on par woth S1 just better production budget.)
At the very least, one thing to say about the old method of TV writing? Disconnected episodes means you could occasionally get a gem like "measure of a man". When everything is connected, it all drags down if the whole isn't any good.
Oh hey. SFDebris did do 3 episodes of Picard. I watched those too.

Ehh ... maybe not "bad," then, but "crushingly mediocre." S2 has its moments, but it's got a ton of garbage you have to sift through, and nothing rivals TNG S1, which ranges from "dull" to "literally unwatchable." I suppose nu-Trek is probably worse, but apart from the obviously non-trivial fact that it's wrecked the franchise, I would not be surprised to see it's still more objectively entertaining than most S1 episodes.
Serial storylines + seasons that comprise fewer than a dozen episodes = a recipe for disaster. Eventually the writers are going to stumble, and once they do it destroys not only the current season but whatever investment you had in the preceding ones. This is why nobody talks about Game of Thrones anymore; it only works now if you change the title to "The Adventures of Tywin Lannister" and stop watching after S4 on the premise the show had a bummer ending.

Come at me but I liked TNG Season 1 since it seemed like a logical extension of TOS. It's Season 2 I find almost unwatchable now. Except for my girl Pulaski.

I don't come at anyone for their entertainment kicks. I am a mellow follower of Kali-Ma. There is a certain goofy charm to S1, and if you held a gun to my head I'd admit that the absolute worst of it is pretty much all in the first four or five episodes, after which it passes from "dreadful" to "tolerable, mostly."
Still, there's nothing in S1 as good as Measure of a Man or that one with the god-alien who wiped out an entire species with a thought because he was peeved at them.

Come at me, but I hated Pulaski. Yes, she served a purpose, but I was so relieved when she was gone. But I'm with you on loving TNG S1. It was pure Roddenberry. The idealism! The cheese! The music stings to let you know how you should feel during every important scene!
The Measure of a Man is probably my all-time favorite episode and still gives me goosebumps in the courtroom scene. "Starfleet was founded to seek out new life, well THERE! IT! SITS!" That god-alien episode was great too. C'mon though, he wasn't "peeved," he was overcome with grief at the death of his wife. Love makes you do the wacky.

What makes TNG Season 1 better than Picard Season 1 or 2 is while TNG Season 1 has some bad episodes it also has some good ones like The Battle, Too Short a Season, Datalore, Heart of Glory, the Big Goodbye, and Conspiracy to name a few that's the benefit of episodic television even if the season is underwhelming it can still have gems in it while Picard with season long arcs mean if the story is bad than the whole season is a wash.
As for Picard Season 3 I genuinely enjoyed it when I say it's not as good as TNG season's 3-7, I mean it doesn't have any episode that make you think truly great Trek is thought provoking something it hasn't been in 20 years.
But as an action-adventure season it was fun, and the story was decent. It was better than the TNG films, it gave the crew a good sendoff something the films didn't Nemesis was depressing even giving closure to Ro's Character. The Memberberries, Call Backs, Easter Eggs whatever you want to call it where well used and even served the story the only complaint I have is the naming the Titan Enterprise G at the end it should have remained the Titan. Also, replacing Wesley with a new Son was the Chef's kiss of the season. Just to keep on topic with the thread.

As a friend of mine puts it - there is an objective quality to art, but it doesn't affect enjoyment. Just as there is an objective quality to nutrition, but that doesn't mean broccoli is going to taste good too you no matter how many numbers doctors throw at you that your human body should eat it.
The immature believe that their feelings are an indication of quality as if how much you liked chocolate cake was an indication of how healthy it was for you. There's a lot of stuff that I can acknowledge is objectively quality and well done - but it leaves me cold or I just dislike it. Likewise there is some stuff I quite enjoy - but I'm not going to argue that it's some great work of art.
We used to have a term for these - it was "guilty pleasures" and we used to be a proper society that would let people have them.
"Survivors" was S3 btw. Measure of a Man was S2.
If you ever binge TNG straight, you will get whiplash from the jump in quality when you hit S3. (especially as S2 closed out with Shades of Grey)
