Post best salad recipes

I'll start with a slightly unhinged idea- your greens of choice, diced tomato and cucumber, dried tomato flakes and furikake, topped with a dash of soy sauce. A slice of feta if I'm feeling it

Interesting, I've only ever use this for plain rice. All of this sounds like it would be really good in a rice bowl. If I am to make a suggestion for a green salad maybe Ponzu?

I don't have a name for this recipe but-
Arugula, spinach.
Sliced cucumbers, green onion, cherry tomatoes, strawberries and blueberries, and almonds.
Balsamic vinaigrette.

idk about 'best salad' but i like baby spinach and arugula
add cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, maybe shaved carrots.
for dressing i just use olive oil and vinegar. either a balsamic or red wine vinegar and then whatever kind of oil.
pretty simple.
also good with quinoa and/or grilled chicken added to it for some proteins

Call me a fatass, but the only salads I eat are the ones restaurants throw in with the meals.
At these Italian places, they throw this vinaigrette with them little sausages and other stuff, pretty good for a salad.
At them Japaboo places with the flat grills, they give me that thousand island shit my self salads that blow out my stomach, still pretty good.
I like a caeser when offered, but I never go out of my way to make salads. I eat rice.

Not even vegetarian and i've almost stopped eating meat entirely. I do it maybe two times a week or so. Salads go hard

greek salad is king

A traditional Greek salad is made of the following simple ingredients:

  • Tomatoes: usually beefsteak tomatoes are used but you can choose any kind of juicy tomatoes, including grape or cherry tomatoes.
  • Cucumbers: for the best results opt for thin-skinned, seedless cucumbers such as Persian or English cucumbers.
  • Red onion (white onion or shallots can also be used).
  • Green bell pepper.
  • Kalamata olives (whole or pitted).
  • Feta cheese.
  • Extra-virgin olive oil.
  • Red wine vinegar.
  • Dried oregano.
  • Salt.
Note: there isn't such thing as a Greek salad dressing.

I grow some fresh herbs in pots on the windowsill - a few basil leaves (or mint, if you have other Mediterranean flavors) will liven up a salad. Get a fresh lemon for your vinaigrette, too.

You can make homemade pickled onions in the fridge - the tartness will bring out the other flavors.

Romaine with cherry tomatoes, white mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, and shredded mozz or cheddar with ranch and black pepper. Pizza salad!
ET answer the original question: Salad is so good because it is a vehicle for ranch dressing, which my people eat proudly by the bowlful.

Beets are GOATed for salads. Here's a very good and simple one:
Boiled or roasted beets, crumbled blue cheese, pecans, pickled onions, leafy greens, topped with honey-mustard vinagrette.
Edit: Don't forget to sprinkle salt and pepper

As long I have ranch and some croutons, I'm really happy.

Salads are yummy because vegetables are yummy. It's just a big serving of unmolested nutrition. There are endless options, and if you can't find one you like, it's because you're a fat child.

Earlier in the year I like dandelion greens + arugula + radish + onion. Simple and bitter, like me.

This time of year, I like romaine + red lettuce + red onion + cucumber + celery + carrot + bell pepper + radishes + sunflower seeds. Just a basic bitch American salad. I don't think stuff needs to be complicated to be good.

Later in the fall, I like spinach + red onion + apple + pumpkin seeds + radish + whatever else is still in season.

Generally don't like cheese on my salad. A little feta is okay once in a while with spinach or spring greens. A little cheddar goes well with apples in a fall salad, or if I'm going to be a fat fuck and do the ol' Pittsburgh classic. Otherwise not a fan.
Another great local salad: mixed greens with tomato, cucumber, olive, grilled steak, french fries, and shredded cheddar.
The ol' Pittsburgh classic.
