Why is it hard for people to practice abstinence?

For the past few years, I have seen women complain about America restricting birth control and it got me to wonder why is it so important for them to have sex. You don't need to have sex to survive and if you don't want a kid, abstinence works 100% of the time. Am I just retarded? I don't understand why they are so vehemently against it. Some of them act like it's The Handmaiden's Tale in real life. I might be missing a lot of context because I'm from Asia but if you're not sexually active, I assume you're not going to get affected by these proposed laws.

I understand the reasoning for non-religious couples that they do want intimacy and I agree that they should have access to birth control. I'm more so referring to those who are single and participate in hookup culture. Apologies for not making that clear in my initial post.

I dunno, I never understood hookup culture either. Sounds gross and stressful and who wants to be someone who is willingly pumped and dumped? I think it is one of those overrated cultural phenomenons. Sex is the best when the two people actually deeply care for each other. It is a bonding exercise, spiritual, in its way, nothing that should be treated as a worthless commodity.

I don't believe in abortion outside a few rare circumstances. I don't believe in birth control either besides if there is some other reason for it than preventing pregnancy. So, I better be sure about who I am having sex with and why. I think sex outside of a relationship isn't a need for either men or women, but inside of it makes things a hell of a lot better.

We're a weird bunch in Q&A though. I'm sure if you were posting this on R*ddit, you'd get vastly different answers.

Ive often had the reverse in as far as the woman is on birth control and asks not to wear a condom because she doesnt like how it feels.

Also OP our success as a species can be attributed to the fact that we reproduce despite any and all conditions

Contrary to popular incel believe most women are not on birth control to have casual one night stands with Chad every weekend. Birth control has tons of negative side effects that most women would like to avoid and only put up with because there aren't many good alternatives. Men do complain about having to use a condom and rates of stealthing have consistently gone up.



Condoms aren't great but they are better than taking hormones that make you fat and suicidal and kill your sex drive. Condoms also protect you from STI's which the pill doesn't. Gynecologists push birth control pills on women who don't need them for the dumbest reasons too. Unless you have severe PCOS or something like endometriosis it's best to avoid fucking with your natural hormones. But nonetheless it is pushed on women who aren't in relationships for the supposed "benefits" and they don't know better, so they aren't taking it to have casual sex but because of all the bs that they claim it helps with.

The reason men want to ban birth control is not because of all the negative effects it has in women but because they want to punish women for having sex with people who are not them.
