A engine with 5900 cc means something. A kid (not adult) in Europe can draw out and explain what the volume of a 5900 cc engine is and an American kid has no idea.

Who says 5900 cc instead of 5.9 liter? Americans can visualize a 360 cubic inch engine just fine.

Also, "5900 cc" refers to the displacement of the cylinders, not the volume of the engine. No one cares about the volume of the whole engine.
