Who is/was behind the anti-smoking push? - Always money involved

The PSAs can go suck on a fag. Especially that one from about 5 years ago that somehow evaded my adblocker. I just want to watch funny videos, get this broken voice box abomination out of my face.

This country was at its best when every man, woman, and newborn smoked a pack a day.
we were a lot thinner in any case. can someone do a statistical analysis to see if there's some kind of correlation to people getting fatter as smoking became less common.
though internet and social media and uber eats probably made it even worse.

I support people's right to treat their own bodies however they want.
But smoking fucking stinks and they shouldn't do it where others have to smell it.

Smoking was a cure for covid so they had to end it becore releasing the virus.

Alright yeah, serious answer. You're coming into the realization that most things that are in human life, ARE "intelligent design". As in, most things you chase, most things you think you want, most things you do, have been decided for you, by others.

This doesn't mean a monolothic control of a wizard behind the curtain. There are multiple wizards that vie for control. And each may be as manipulated in a field they know little about as they manipulate others.

So you no longer have the instinctive trust of the system (most people these days are forced to either give in to their trust or their suspicions).

I have some difficulty believing that tobacco would work to get themselves forbidden. It seems like a very high risk, low reward strategy. It's not impossible, but why not market things side by side?

I don't see anyone offering any evidence in this thread to prove (or suggest) that there were non-health motives.

Necro time, because im trying to quit and reading about cigarettes is staving off the need for a fag (basically, cigarette porn)

I worked for philip morris marketing team in my 3rd world shithole, the push (right now) is coming from tobacco companies itself to get people to switch to vapes, philip morris especially wants people to switch to its shitty ICOS products. its important to realize that a huge side of the anti smoking campaign is against cigarettes themselves, not e-fags, because theres more money to be made with e-fags.

on a broader picture, anti smoking campaigns are a way to make money off of cigs and cig smokers, getting people to quit is really hard, so all these campaigns accomplish is more taxes and restrictions on cigarettes which allow companies to jack up prices and not only make more money for themselves, but also the government gets to pocket more shit as well.

theres also the fact that a lot of these campaigns are done by NGOs who take donations from "good faith billionaries" or funds who on surface "care about the community" but in reality are getting tax write offs because they donated to an anti smoking NGO/charity. NGOs themselves are taking huge paycheckes to produce the absolute cringy "your brain on drugs" tier videos and campaigns. its a huge money laundering scheme that is basically immune to criticism because whos gonna criticize anti smoking campaigns? the reply is an easy "what, do you HATE CHILDREN?!!!!!!!!"

And as an added bonus, on a psychological level, its a control tool, ripping away even 5 minutes of relaxation from someone under the guise of healthy lifestyle is a really good weapon in the hands of societal tyrants, corporations and the government. When I visited the US, (New York City ) cigarette smokers were basically treated like kikes in nazi germany, I even had a rabid (actual) troon come up to me in central park and demand that I stop smoking cause i was harming Xer health (ironic coming from a troon).

When i started smoking, i knew it was bad for my health, but one way my brain coped with it is that, if all the biggest troons, corrupt NGOs and basically the worst people in the world are the ones who run these anti smoking campaigns, then it must not be as bad as they say. Plus i work in advertising and cigarettes hold a special place in advancing advertising to its golden age.

over the last 6 years i've that been smoking, the only thing that happened to me is that i lost my stamina, which isn't that bad, but i do enjoy going on hiking trips every once in a while and that is why im trying to quit now.

To answer your question OP, its a combination of ZOG, greedy faggots, troons and people who just hate you and everything you stand for.

A company I worked for once banned smokers from smoking anywhere in the factory, grounds, or parking lot. They were permitted a smoking break, but forbidden from driving anywhere they were permitted to take the smoking break since that was misuse of company time. Some of the oldest generation of engineers that fucking built the place would walk a mile out into the desert to light up for half an hour.

It had nothing to do with their health. It was just social cruelty.

The campaign to crush vaping (better for health than smoking), and the simultaneous campaign to promote marijuana is also a pretty strong signal that the attempt to control nicotine has absolutely freaking nothing to do with health. (Smoking *is* bad for you. (Lung cancer, emphysema and the like do result from a lifetime of it, and are no joke.) But it's not why the social tyrants want to end it. AFAICT it's another bit of weirdness related to tribal affiliation and a dominance game. Marijuana puts the same burning vegetable matter in your lungs, but it's supposedly a social good.)

Smoking is disgusting. I grew up in a family of non-smokers, but in HS was friends with a person who was. She wanted to share lockers. That was a decision I absolutely regretted. Went on one date with a smoker and he tried to kiss me and it was absolutely disgusting, like licking an ashtray. Fuck smoking.

I recently saw a sign in Walgreens that was put up by court order saying that 38,000 people per year die from second hand smoke. Imagine believing that for a single second, lol.

It started as a grassroots movement because people got sick of shit like smoking on a plane plus got literally sick from that shit as the dangers of secondhand smoke became well known. Then lawyers discovered you could sue tobacco companies for not warning of the dangers and deliberately getting people addicted to a dangerous product and it went mainstream. And then politicians realized they could sue tobacco companies and win even more money because their states had to pay healthcare costs for lung cancer and heart disease. Plus the whole thing where tobacco was a "free" source of money--like if they raised taxes on cigarettes, the state would make more money and they'd pay less in healthcare since it would make people quit smoking.

But the truth is that Big Tobacco is the single shadiest group of evil bastards who actually got exposed. Like they're a case study on how these industries work to manipulate science and public opinion, and we can tell from Pharma settlements, Big Oil, and shit like that there's far, far worse going on. Hell, they practically pioneered the tactic since they were the earliest industry to embrace advertising and had big names like Edward Bernays and the Hill & Knowlton PR firm working on their strategies. It's so evil that it's hard to be concerned about any sort of anti-smoking shit.

And maybe that's deliberate. They start small with bans on things "everyone knows" is unhealthy like menthols and vaping and raising the smoking age to 21. And then they ramp it up with bans on all sorts of other things until we're drinking only water and eating only soylent and bug paste for "efficiency" and "healthcare costs." It's VERY easy for public health types to go overboard from reasonable restrictions like "ban smoking in schools and make smoking a costly habit" to, well, 2020-22 should show you what happens when public health gets out of hand.

Smoking killed the Hollywood industry. What turned into a social status for luxurious celebrities regressed into trash, deplorable behavior. They poisoned the cigarettes to kill off several high class actresses.

Smoking originally got huge because of a mass-scale corporate-government collaboration during WW2, so it's kind of funny that now there are people suspecting that some kind of corporate-government collusion is behind getting people to not smoke. IMO, the biggest thing that drove anti-smoking sentiment was seeing an entire generation die of lung cancer and emphysema.

Wrong world war. It was the first one where the industry teamed up with some generals and the government to get cigarettes included in every ration pack and then told the people who opposed it that they were unpatriotic for saying it was unhealthy or immoral. Edward Bernays was a war propagandist for the US hired to sell the WWI to the public--after the war he sold cigarettes, most notoriously linking them to feminism and causing skyrocketing sales among women. Cigarette sales in general exploded after 1918 in the US.

Although to be fair, the 1950s were the height of smoking. IIRC smoking rate peaked in the early 60s.

The campaign to crush vaping (better for health than smoking)
I'm not so sure that vaping is actually better for you than cigarettes. I switched from cigs to vapes and I feel like it only made my habit worse. At least when I smoked I was forced to go outside, and that naturally limited how often I was able to do it. With a vape though, you can puff on that thing constantly. Any time and anywhere. Plus it smells like fucking raspberry candy. There's also much, much more nicotine inside of vape juice. Seriously the amount of it inside the nicotine salt juice is just insane. And as your tolerance to nicotine goes up, it's easy to just buy stronger juice so you can chase the dragon of the feeling it used to give you. You don't really have that option with regular cigarettes.

I remember reading some document related to a court case that phillip morris calculated that the profit margin would be significantly larger in vapes. Also they could deliver more nicotine which would lead to faster addiction, especially in children.
Praise be to Allah, for my imam had issued a fatwa against the evils of the vape. His sons have informed me that it has become a most serious problem in the lavatories, for those under the spell of this most accursed of Satan's works gather in small circles resembling cults and spend all day passing around what the Devil calls the "Penjamin," inshallah.

And then they ramp it up with bans on all sorts of other things until we're drinking only water and eating only soylent and bug paste for "efficiency" and "healthcare costs."
"Everything the government does is to make me eat bugs."

At this point I'm starting to think you guys have a fetish.
