They do not work, and they should be banned everywhere they are found. They will turn the site into Reddit 2.0. Something awful troons were from containment threads, r/shitredditsays was a containment sub. You think you’re quarantining them like plague victims to protect the other site members, but what actually happens is they make each other and anyone who stumbles on their AIDS into even more virulent AIDS, super faggot aids if you will. They are, then, not content with gay aids orgies and have to proselytize to everyone else. There isn’t any way to possibly convince them of anything else or argue even politely. They just spent the last 8 months having the same diseased retards agreeing with and enforcing the most insane, reality-defying opinions that shock the mentally well upon first contact like a pride parade would hit the sentinelese.

All of the problems with modern discussions, the extremely emotional bleating and stone-wall response to any attempt to negotiate come down to this issue. At its core there was some group of redditfags who banned anyone that didn’t meet the purity test and its members became psychotic, but close enough to an existing ideology that they slowly changed the Overton window.

I knew a guy (unfortunately) who was a woman hater and he acted just as crazy as the women that are complained about in this thread.

He was deeply disturbed, so I can vouch for that. Considering he got in trouble for pulling a knife out to attack someone in school.

us politics thread is the opposite of an echo chamber, it's constantly plagued by infighting and arguments to the point of shitflinging and flamewars between various (groups of) users.
doomers vs optimists, nazis vs jews, conspiratards vs reasonable people, zoomers vs millennials vs Xers and boomers, interventionists vs isolationists, the exact topics change over time but whenever you open the thread it's virtually guaranteed that you'll find yourself in the middle of some slapfight between raging autists.

the three biggest echo chambers on the site are probably the ukraine war thread (russian side), the other ukraine war thread (ukrainian side) and the man hate thread.
all three of these were explicitly created/endorsed by null to serve as echo chambers for their respective audience, and jannies enforce this by keeping dissenters out, reddit mod style.

the only argument that ever happens in USPG2 is what flavor of Donald Trump's dick we like the best. mine is peaches and gravy.

The alphabet people created the terf/radfem movement as it is now. The logical consequence of men invading female spaces causes some women to become defensive and hostile towards the opposite sex.

Also I'm going to be a contrarian and say that none of the circlejerks on this site are nearly as bad as Reddit/Discord/most other forms of mainstream social media. I can say something that might be unpopular and get autistic stickers but I won't be banned from the site.

The real answer to the original OP presented is any thread where you get an autoban just for posting any kind of dissenting opinion. That includes the MHT, but not the WHT. Regardless of whatever the topic is, if posting a dissenting opinion specifically ends in a ban due to the rules of the thread- it is officially an echo chamber. There is no ifs, ands, or buts about it. There are several threads on this site like this but very few of them have codified stated rules.

Then I guess TDS/TES and Russia/Ukraine shit is off the list then. There's some infighting in those threads too and as long as you act normal, the most you'll get are some reddit stickers.
So I suppose we're left with the man hate thread, but that's a containment with its own rules so does it really count?

Do note that the single-sex rules for the threads were only announced in the Man-Hate thread, whose regulars at the time had already made very clear that men were unwelcome. No one in the WHT was informed of these rules until weeks later, hence the chimpening when the bans started rolling in.

Going back to the subject of containment threads it really doesn't make sense when you think about it. When you quarantine a group of people who have a contagious disease, they're either going to die or get better, after which you release them. You don't "get better" from being insufferable, and unless you decide to take your personality outside to a cop or a gangster you won't die from it either. So really if you're gonna quarantine a group of people based on their ideology you have to either eventually release or kill them, otherwise they just bitch in a circle until they become un-talk-toable by anyone outside of their lazaret.
