What's your favorite prank that you pulled in the work place?

Our current office had these moon rune wall nameplates left over from the old tenants. I kept a bunch of them and swapped out all of the sales team's plates a few months later. A couple of the guys weren't pleased but the vp of sales thought it was funny and still has the moon rune plate in the holder.

Take a screenshot of the desktop, and set it as the wallpaper. Move all the shortcuts to a new folder. Watch them click the icons and nothing happens.

Last place I worked was chill, new place would probably get a complaint from the bitter old people who can barely use a computer anyway, and would get wrote up for it. So use at your discretion.

Not at work but at school in a computer class one of my friends left the room with his computer unlocked so I googled "gay guys kissing" and set one of the results as his wallpaper.

In my job we have to audit everything each night -- medication supplies; pill counts; SHARPS containers; first aid and triage kits; liquid and intake monitoring.

Last year I printed out a form (all comic sans btw) with no official symbolism or heraldry titled

"teabag audit log"

To give you an idea of the scale of teabags that we keep in the British workplace.

Thinking that it woud obviously be a joke and seen as such, I left from nightshift and had a few days off between rotations.

Well, to my fucking surprise and disgust, I came back and while getting my coffee before the morning handover my colleague remarked "they've got us counting the teabags now. I hate this place".

You cannot imagine how much faith I lost in humanity upon realisation that for the last few days people were sitting counting individual teabags each night before handover. Including the Senior.

When I told them to check the date it was marked as starting on the paperwork, the realisation slowly sunk in for everyone. Their expressions of both the desire to kill me, and realising they'd fallen for several days of an April fools prank, was priceless.

Any excuse to post this. Wish I could find the one with the original voices but the only one on the jewtube is in potato quality.

When I was a kid, my Dad ran a business from home. One morning I snuck onto his work computer and set MS Word's autocorrect to replace 'the' with 'penis' then went to school.

When I got home I learned that he had been freaking out all day thinking his computer had been hacked and wasn't able to get any work done. He was pissed. Fun times.

We used to send new cooks to the sister restaurants (there were three different places owned by the same dude on one block) for the bacon stretcher. Hiding a raw egg in with the boiled ones is also fun. "Oops, guess you didn't boil that one long enough."

If people left their workstations unlocked, I used to flip their screens around or change their mouse from right hand mode to left hand mode.
We had a new employee start and for some reason, my supervisor could not stand this dude. To the point where he made fucking with the guy a sport.

This new employee would walk away and leave his computer unlocked. My supervisor would do this shit, but he flipped his screen, took a screen shot of the desktop flipped, flipped his desktop back, made the screenshot his wallpaper, hid his icons and task bar. He also did some other shit that his whole system had to be reimaged.

I also had a roommate in college who was a good ole church boy and random friends of his would come to our dorm and put meat spin on his browser and lock his computer.

When I first got into IT I was pretty clueless on a lot of stuff, so I had a few different pranks pulled on me. Had all my icons hidden and wallpaper replaced with a screenshot of my desktop, had my wallpaper changed to random things when I left my computer unlocked, had my mouse pointer icon changed to the loading version, had my screen flipped, and had my keyboard layout changed. All pretty harmless stuff outside of me thinking my computer was fucked when the icons stopped working lol.

Favorite thing I did though, I was on a screen share with a coworker and he had given me control through Teams. He had to step away for a minute, so once he was gone, I minimized his screen and changed the background to the golden girls or something. This was during covid so we were all remote and nobody should have been able to do this to him. Didn't tell him it was me until a week later and he had no clue how tf someone could have done that when he was literally the only one who ever had access to it. Pretty timely prank.

The corporate intranet had employee profiles on it which you could fill in. The editing page didn't sanitise any of the inputs so I put flash games in mine before graduating to using javascript DOM traversal to rewrite my profile to a one of a list of gag ones with a 1% chance of it doing that per page hit. To make it slightly harder to grass me up, I had it change the link to my manager to one of the other gag profiles.

I work down in the assembly hall, since my CNC office is down there and we have a PC outside that can be used by everyone to print out labels, check orders etc. It goes without saying that a lot of the older workers aren't exactly tech savvy and panic the moment the slightest thing seems off on the PC.
So one day I decided to replace every single (Or well, the more common ones) windows sounds with a variety of screams.
Sure, harmless, but god damn I have to laugh just thinking about the carnage and confusion that brought.

I have one that I started, BUT it's become a thing - if your mates with someone in the Trade (We are all smiths) an have access to each others shops you go in an replaced EVERY SINGLE HAMMER with one of these -

You can get them in bulk really cheaply if you know where to look and it's become a right of passage to get Squeaked.

I have an open shop, like it's partly a social club at this point with all the friends, family an neighbours dropping in and I go through a bag that size in my forge every month, and my mate came up with a fucking amazing joke - The Wood bag, he can get his hands on these empty tea bag's so he took one put some wood shaving's in and mixed it in with the others, so imagine the scene you your mrs an your mates are all having a cup of tea and one of you has a tea bag that just wont brew your all chatting drinking tea or coffee (and I have another joke about this) and your standing there trying to get some colour into your tea and nothing happens but on a casual inspection nothing looks amiss apart from your mate Phil chuckling into his cup.

Another drink related one is Pound Land Gravy Coffee, in pound land they sell this awful brand of "Gravy" granules that has next to no smell but faintly tastes of Beef and has lots of Salt, but it looks EXACTLY like instant coffee. What you do it replace your mates instant coffee jar's contents with this "Gravy" mix an the victim makes there own doom, I once saw someone take two big scoops of coffee and a massive sugar and pour hot water over it an then pour in steri milk - he spat the resulting mixture across the room it was that vile.

I took a large diarrhea shit on my boss's desk, threatened to rape his grandma and called my nigger co-workers nigger to their retard faces. It was April fools day so it was all done with levity & grace.

This is a mixture of pranks that both I've done and the other guys at work, we've repeated some of them a few times now.
Used double sided tape to stick someone's phone down to the base bit so the entire thing lifts up, same with sticking pens to the keyboard, swapping keyboard keys around, gluing each others shoes together, filling cars with shredded paper, gluing coffee cups to the desk, filling the tills with water, filled work boots with water and put them in the freezer, sticking car keys to the ceiling of the warehouse, going behind someone with a box cutter and cutting as far up their top as you can. I'm probably forgetting some the lists too long.

I once wrapped a coworker's car with plastic wrap. Watching the people going in and out of the parking lot do double takes was fun.

I sometimes put a few pieces of confectionery into a small ziplock bag and hide it in my daughter's pencil case, for her to discover when she's in class. I only choose things she hates, like licorice or Jaffas.

A classic prank for tradesmen is to put a very thin layer of moly grease on your victim's earmuffs. The grease melts while the person is wearing them and it leaves huge black rings around their ears.

Piece of tape under someone's mouse laser is a classic.
I did time in a call centre back when optical mice were still new. To help maintain what little morale there was, one of my jovial colleagues (a team leader, no less) figured out that putting Scotch tape over the sensor would stop the mouse from working.

It didn't take long for most of us to wise up, but one especially ditzy colleague couldn't figure it out. Instead of letting her in on the joke, we suggested she give the IT helpdesk a call.

IT dude comes down (not a pajeet, that's how long ago this was), tries all the usual stuff i.e. unplugging and replugging the mouse, trying a different USB port, turning the computer off and on again etc. He ended up going back upstairs to the IT department and bringing a brand new mouse down for her.

I still have no idea how those of us who knew what was going on managed to keep it together for so long without laughing our asses off.

Última edición:
I deal with A LOT of deadhead/time wasting clients.

If a perspective client wastes my time and gasoline without the slightest of empathy and I have nothing better to do I will talk them into how to "fix it" themselves. They don't question why someone they just offended is helping them in the least, they just run with it. Some of my all time favorites are making people crawl under their cars looking for things that don't exist, convincing them I'm out front and making them knock on strangers windows of cars I'm pretending to be in, just really anything that convinces them to spend 2-3 hours without any purpose at all I find entertaining. If I get a really bad call, they are just incredibly rude/demanding from the get go I will tell them I'm "going to put them on hold for just a minute" then I'll put the cell on speakerphone and play some music I like for about 30-45 seconds and then start singing along lightly with the music so they can hear me. I'll then "take them off hold" and ask them "what we were talking about again?"
