Libertarianism was really really appealing until I realized all its proponents can't understand incremental change and self sabotage their cause over purity, are all gooners, and are really concerned with removing the age of consent.

Libertarians are almost universally open-borders lolcows who want you to believe society would somehow be better off if heroin were available at the gas station.

Mike Brown and Trayvon showed me black people are irredeemable.

2016 opened my eyes to the fact that everybody I ran with during college was an indoctrinated, unsalvageable piece of human garbage with no moral consistency. Walking away from them and listening to the other side woke me up to the metaphysical sickness infesting humanity and now I'm just watching the left go into further and further mental breakdowns as the algorithmic predation eats their souls. It's now at the point where the fools infested by Legion are willing to kill themselves against authorities so that rapists, scammers, and thieves can subjugate our society. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

At one time I was a right-wing libertarian if you can believe it.

Some events that I don't want to talk about in detail, but suffice to say it involved a very abusive boss who enjoyed bringing in someone to insult and belittle for his mistakes. I swore that someday I would never, ever let that happen again to anyone. I'm still ashamed of my failure to act in the right way because in the end the prick came after me but I've kept my promise ever since.

Later, people laid off for no reason other than to profit the owners. Thrown out in the street with nothing despite years of service! Traveled through the Rust Belt and saw the real places devastated by capitalist profiteering. All those people who were counting on the mills for their future and they got nothing but a fuck you in response!

The abuse I see in my work that I can do nothing about because it's completely legal. There are other deeper, personal stories about our joke of a "healthcare" system that I also don't want to talk about in detail.

It wasn't really a single thing, but I am a full blown white nationalist, far right chud now. Even when something was a big contributor to this evolution, it wouldn't have swayed me without all of the other little shit that came along the way. Everything was another step, big or small, to making me the far right natsee that I am today, so it's hard to pick just one thing. I was going to do some highlights of major things that happened, but nobody cares, so I will just go with 2020.

Wow, 2020, what a fucking shitshow. I was still pretty purple pilled then, but had fully realized that something was not right in the world. When Covid started up prior to lockdowns, I was taking it seriously and following all of the "experts", checking daily infection numbers, and was assigned to head the "Covid response" for my whole shop. I had a lot of old timers and unhealthy guys that I was worried about, and really tried my best to make sure we were all safe but working. When the lockdowns hit, I was dubious and questioned the necessity of violating all of our constitutional rights for muh safety, but I was genuinely concerned and ended up meekly accepting them for the "greater good. The only thing I didn't do was get the jab, because I knew it would kill me due to an allergic reaction, which is its own example that I won't get into for the sake of brevity.

Then niggers and their communist sycophants started rioting, and I realized that absolutely nobody gave the slightest of shits about Covid. I had been completely, totally, utterly duped into giving away not only my rights, but the rights of all of my countrymen, for a disease that clearly did not matter. The same "experts" that were telling me that Whitey can't go to church, and Whitey can't open their business, and Whitey can't go to protest against any of it, now were telling me that lung pow sicken was woke and would not affect blacks or their sycophants because they were On The Right Side Of History. It was actually a national imperative that shitskins and their shit souled kindred were allowed to Burn, Loot, and Murder with impunity while my government openly endorsed and enabled them. I really struggle to put into words what a total, utter, fundamental betrayal of my trust that this was, and it is probably the single thing that contributed most to my total absence of trust in any American institution, my overwhelming and total hatred of progressives, and my conclusion that browns are inherently incompatible with White civilization in every way.

I don't think anything will ever fix the damage 2020 did to my willingness to trust or cooperate with the government, corporations, or progressives.

I started off liberal and went off to a bit more of a center right wing at first. This was mainly due to the tail-end of gamergate and the whole #kickvic situation where I have seen "progressives" just screeching about utter bullshit lies coming from vengeful second rate voice actors and rejects from TGWTG just wanting to clamber for relevance like crabs in a bucket. I was also ambivalent to trump winning when we had the George Floyd riots and the hounding of Kyle Rittenhouse trying to defend himself against a bunch of criminals.

However, I returned more center left because of Trump warmongering, the exasperation of inflation/unemployment through retarded tariffs and the last straw was him refusing to release the epstein files. The fact that trumpfags fucking defend the pedo president for utterly refusing to hold pedos accountable and walking back on a shit ton of his campaign promises made me realize that MAGA is a cult. I basically gave the right wing a chance to actually prove they are for the people but it turns out, they're just as bad, if not worse, than the leftists.

I don't think I have seen a leftist candidate who is known for raping kids yet.

It's hard to pin-point exactly, as the turn-around was an effect of several factors. I didn't really care about politics as it was simply exhausting and avoided any arguments by pointing myself in the middle, and to be frank, I still find interacting with it as an atrittional endeavor for my senses. The shitshow of 2020 effectively eliminated any obstruction and let the sewage completely loose in a matter that simply couldn't be ignored anymore. Let me state that it's simple to ignore staring at a festering wound by deluding yourself enough. After all, it can be hidden by a pristine veil of bandages or disregarded by describing it as an alternative branch towards maintaining the integrity of flesh, same as ruins can be described as a different approach to architecture. What can't be hidden is that sickly, sweet smell of decay. It will always strive to pierce that thin barrier of decadent perfume desperately trying to mask it. Let me end it by saying that the miasma of liberal rot was rather pervasive after that and didn't dispel ever since.

I was generally apolitical until I started browsing /pol/ because jannies moved chase bowl threads out of /sp/, the one I still remember being the Dornerb Owl. Around that time we had the Syrian refugee crisis, the NYE rapes in Cologne, and Bataclan. I shifted hard right because I knew that the Democrats are more likely to repeat those mistakes here. My first choice in 2016 was Rand Paul (wow that aged poorly) because I heard nothing but good things about his dad then switch to Trump when he dropped out. I turned on Trump for not doing shit about the BLM riots and whiffing on all his cabinet and Supreme Court nominations. In 2024 I was willing to move on to DeSantis because he'd have none of Trump's shortcomings (and the war with Disney was hilarious). When Ron dropped out I had to go back to Trump since Dems are basically wannabe EU bureaucrats at this point. They can't be let back into power under ANY circumstances.

I didn't. I did, however, get outshined.

Lgntwtfbbq are degenerate and trannydom as a concept is stupid. That said I have better things to do with my time, bigger fish to fry, as opposed to users here who rackup a lot of posts. Besides when the right are outpacing the lefts' degenerecy (these latest couple of years anyway) then what little attention I have goes towards the bigger trainwreck. At the yankee right have turned into a big big trainwreck.

More than many on here can accept.

Not so much 90's nasty politics, then 911, and post 2010's-2015's Torah to mid 2010;s acceptable of Jesus Christ as adult Baptism.

I don't, lol. So if I'm the first one to be so, nice to meet you.

Near the 2015 elections in Argentina I started to listen to economists to learn about what was going on, eventually this lead me to read a book called "Argentina devoured" which spoke about economics in the Argentinian context, then I went on to read "Basic Economics" by Thomas Sowell, at the end of the day what changed my mind was the real world examples and logic behind economics, the things I learned destroyed the ideas that I was told my entire life.

I didn't change my mind due to personal experiences either, since that would be emotional rather than rational.

Thomas Sowell in "Intellectuals and Society" talks about how a vision is a pre-analytical cognitive act, it's a way of perceiving reality before the facts, I didn't change my mind because I swapped one vision of the world for another, I changed my mind due to facts, if you could prove to me that a centrally planned economy leads to much better outcomes than individuals making economical decisions then I would have to change my mind and admit that communism is better, but this obviously doesn't happen.

I could slowly feel myself become a little more right/conservative leaning over time. Not on all issues, just more understanding & more moderate. Then, post 2021 manifested some real fucking spergs in A&H, and I realized that people who couldn't talk about their blind love for some hard right stuff on platforms were moving here and turning A&H more and more cynical. It eventually became a bigger circle jerk of negativity and most balanced voices left because you can't argue with someone who says "If you criticized one thing then that means you are against the WHOLE thing and ARE THE ENEMY" just like the SJWs of the 2010s. I knew it would fucking happen too - the incredibly obnoxious political flip flop of young people rebelling against the old... But keeping their parents/family's dogmatic approach so it's the same obnoxious styme but different colored flags.

I think it's hard to talk about politics on most sites nowadays because too many people treat it like a life or death football game. It can be that during wartime, but we're not at war. The bigger problem is that politics is being treated like dopamine injection button: man makes a post that affirms politics of one side and bullies another? +90 updoots/likes/stickers/social credits. Not only that, you might have made a post that feels like a victory against someone else! That's 50 more ego points! This helps push the extreme voices to the top and keeps them craving that dopamine, which they roam websites for and pick up.

I assume most people who are serious about politics are either actively working in politics, working/volunteering for pet causes, or are into that field in some other way. People on the internet arguing all the time might just have a little too many classic shut-in tendencies to go outside and make a difference, and some of those (like pretending to be a different race or LARPing anything) can be really damming. Some people circlejerked so much they're in a doomspiral they can't get out of. Some are feeling so much euphoria that they're ignoring reasonable critiques or something they would criticize other politicians not on their side because I AM RIGHT FINALLY WHOOOO. There's people who can't stop winning and people who can't stop winning until they sober up from the dopamine high and go "Hey, that was pretty shitty that they did this and that." Several dems did that over democratic presidencies, it will happen again.

The internet rewards people for memorizing scripture of political ideology and awarding people for repeating it in an affirming way. Back in the day, people became pastors and church busybodies if they had no talent but wanted to be the most correct and better person in the room than others. Now you can choose your grift even more effectively with wide audiences everywhere.

I really miss critique and knowledge on the sites from different voices. The most knowledgeable tend to post in Happenings thanks to their tireless interest in the subjects & are at least highlighted for the most part. Reading about different parts of wars and how different businesses work is still fun and interesting. There's just a lot of circle jerking in between.

And I am TIRED of Jewsperging! Holy shit, jews are living in some of your walls at this point. There's people with actual critiques of Judaism, Israeli government, and the social network of high up people in a tight knit circle, and then there's some who cannot stop bringing it up outside of the designated political threads and only know how to spam common rhetoric like it's a new fucking button they got and have to press 24/7. Hell, apply that to any group. People have been hardcore alogging on this site lately and everyone needs to step back and drink some water or something.

Some events that I don't want to talk about in detail, but suffice to say it involved a very abusive boss who enjoyed bringing in someone to insult and belittle for his mistakes.
One of the real political dualities is definitely "boss's pet" (usually libertarian/conservative) versus "teacher's pet" (libs, various).

The actual existing left, the partisans of the Democrats, Labour, etc., has become both. The RISE OF THE FAR RIGHT™ is an increase in people they've alienated by becoming so adamantly worst-of-both-worlds (and too explicitly anti-white).

My change was from a sort of Hoppean libertarianism, basically the idea that maximum possible freedom is achieved via brutal repression of its enemies, to a purer "We just gotta kill 'em"—even though (or because) it's too late.

Post-doomer.

Gamergate turned me from a wholesome-chungus LatinX communist into a far-right, racist, sexist, transphobic, ableist, antisemetic, islamophobic, fascistic, reactionary Christian Nationalist/Nazi/conquistador larper/card carrying member of the kkk/Russian operative/whatever other bugbear that scares the typical BlueSky user. (Nah I was always RW, the real shift to extremism began by being awoken from my dogmatic slumber that the "blank slate" tenet of basic-bitch conservatism (i.e., ~classical liberalism) was a lie (notably w.r.t. race) leading me to question a bunch of other golden calves)

Grew up in a safe, cohesive, high-trust society, which convinced me that I could simply be a live-and-let-live Lolbertarian.
I think there is a lot to be said about this. It's easy to be open minded and optimistic about other people when things are going great but when shit starts going south is when people need to be more realistic. You can see it in the posts in this thread even, it's always bad thing happened then I changed my mind.

it was all my fault, and nothing they ever did to me would be considered wrong or hateful.
The woke left unironically wants to see you dead, your mother and children raped and they think it's fun.
