Just dropping in to report that it's happened again: That weird phenomenon where people on the left just assume you agree with them. Someone waiting in line with me just randomly started talking about how terrible things are under Trump.
I don't have blue hair. I intentionally dress as forgettable as possible, so why assume I'm not just anti-Trump, but so anti-Trump that this is appropriate stranger-discussion?

I feel like this behavior is a factor, honestly, and I don't think it's social awkwardness. I think it's an intentional behavior (maybe not done consciously) to set the standards of "normal" and if you agree with them it's a freeing feeling, but if you don't, then you end up questioning how common these views actually are, or feeling uncomfortable due to the rules of social propriety.
I'm a former liberal. It's just part of the programming/brainwashing. I was just like this, although I would not go so far as to start discussions with strangers in line at the store. I just assumed that everyone in my orbit, unless they specifically said so, thought the same way that I did about politics and culture. Conservatives were just some fringe minority, while myself and the people around me were part of the much larger "normal" group. It is still unsettling to think back on. This is why I don't waste any time and energy on having political or cultural discussions with the lefties in my life anymore, unless they insist on pulling me into it. Every time, without fail, they throw back the standard talking point that was issued by The Party that week. You are not having a discussion with a person who can think critically and question their own beliefs and viewpoints, you are having a discussion with someone who is brainwashed/programmed.

Since the question is how the Left failed, it's because they went insane from top to bottom. On the bottom are a bunch of pink-haired HR ladies screaming sexism at everything and violent niggers and Mexican-flag waving spics rioting and on the top are smug rich people enabling the crazy people to act crazy and enacting COVID mandates on people. I wouldn't have said this 20 years ago, but they actually do hate America and everything it stands for.

So while Trump and the Right do mess up and have bad policies every now and again, it's in comparison to the mass of insanity the Left projects on every place they rule.

Both the tea party and SJW were astroturfed movements, the difference is the later was much better astroturfed while the former well only retarded boomers thought it was for real, just like Q. But the use of SJWs with idpol was devastating against OWS and other non-partisan movements that showed up after 2008, because unlike a bunch of geriatrics cosplaying in revolutionary costume those movements were actually dangerous, could actually get laws passed that would fuck up the kleptocratic class that has had America by the balls for decades. The use of idpol was devastating, the moment I saw the retards applying nonsense like the progressive stack bullshit I knew it was over, it was the kind of belligerent shit that gets people so divided nothing can get done at all, exactly as planned. All the SJW bullshit since then was a smokescreen to get normies to talk about something else but economic and legal reform.
They associate the cartoons they watched and the prosperity of the time
What prosperity? sometimes I'm not sure if people even grasp the sheer devastation that was the great recession. Its been 17 years and some parts of the country are still ruined, why you think there was an oxycontin addiction epidemic and now its the far worse fentanyl? you think a country going thru a time of prosperity has a massive drug problem and societal decay? the crack epidemic happened during the malaise era, the opium crisis in china happening during an era of decline too.
The thing that caught them off guard was that all these groups, at least the sections of them that were vocal, were insane highly intolerant authoritarian bigots who are off putting to the majority of humanity.
What caught them off guard is how much those groups actually hate each other.
The 10's left was already infested by this, you're thinking maybe 90's left.

What prosperity?
If you read just a few words more you would see I said (not knowing what's going on in the world) I.E as a child you are unburdened with the reality of what's going on and things are prosperous to you. I didn't think it was that hard to understand. Unless you're living out of the back seat of a car and have an adults comprehension of recession and drug issues you're likely going to be blind to the issues of the world around you hence prosperity.

as a child you are unburdened with the reality of what's going on and things are prosperous to you
Plenty of kids grow up in poverty, more than ever now, and a lot did during the great recession. Just because you didn't and you're just now having a hard time does not mean those were prosperous times.

I did grow up in poverty but as a kid my scope of how bad things were wasn't nearly as complete as they are now. My point was to many people that grew up then they had an okay or good time and grew to be voters who think the way back is voting for what was their personal golden age. Your assumptions and inability to entertain a viewpoint other than your own is not my problem.

By calling everyone crazy who opposed them in the last ~75 years and the constant gaslighting of the proof that their opposition was right. If you are thinking about the "Chuds" becoming more and its optics. The worst thing you can do is to call Hitler a crazy person and then creating his nightmare, just proving that he was the one who was right. It wasn't a single thing or a specific event that killed off their support. Their support ended when a generation had to grow up with mutts/Kalergi kids in the classrooms, experiencing what real "cultural enrichment" is and not what you see on the screen. The only reason leftism is still around is because of old merits, which will only crash once people start to cash out from this fake and gay economy carrying its infrastructure.

instead of being worker-parties they sold out and became dei-faggots
now there is no oppostion to the megacorps anymore, the political spectrum is limited to megacorps supporting gay disabled brownpeople while owning your ass and megacorps not supporting gay disabled brown people while also owning your ass

Nothing. Left leaning people have always been communist apologists and have always been secretly working on behalf of one communist power or another and have always been traitors to the nation. Everyone to the left of Pat Buchanan should be publicly executed.

The biggest would be the failure of the Soviet revolution. By the 60s the "left" was split into disillusioned intellectual types who saw that the U.S.S.R.'s "socialism" meant "social democracy at gunpoint," Stalinists ""Marxist-Leninists"" who had the job of explaining why Stalin executing every original Bolshevik was actually dialectical necessity, and Trotskyists who believed that if their axe-murdered Jewish messiah had won the power struggle then, somehow, the U.S.S.R. would be really socialist. When at least 2/3rds of the "worker's movement" were saying "yes, you workers need to revolt so that we can achieve a suspiciously similar society to the capitalist West, except you'll have free healthcare and guaranteed employment and secret police to make sure you don't revolt again for no reason at all" the movement was probably already doomed. This coincided with America suddenly becoming the largest economy in the world and American/Western elites being able to temporarily make a lot of concessions to their domestic workers since exploiting the third world was, at the time, a lot easier, so you had social democracies in Europe and Great Society stuff in the U.S. So the prevailing attitude in the West was that housing and consumer goods were getting cheaper, governments were looking out for their most vulnerable, the bad guys had been defeated in WWII; basically, everything was getting better, and this trend would continue forever (as mass media like Star Trek and other emerging scifi promised), so why risk your life and future to abolish stuff like money and class when the trend is for everything to become more equitable anyway? Finally you had intelligence spending a shitload of money and time co-opting any vaguely left-wing movement to redirect from economics to shit like feminism, drugs, consumerism, and promiscuity, while harassing/driving to madness independent/non-compromised influential communists like Hemingway and Philip K. Dick. Dave McGowan's articles on intelligence connections to Laurel Canyon and the hippie movement are interesting reading (McGowan was a little too quick to make assertions/draw conclusions for my taste, but there's way too much smoke for there not to be a huge fire somewhere).

Right now I don't believe there's anyone left who genuinely has faith in a brighter future. The right is full of misanthropic sadists and the left is pathetic and useless. The direction of the world seems to be toward a police state where everything is recorded, criticizing politicians, immigration policies, or Israel is illegal, and everyone is retarded by being screen-addicted since the age of 3, and I don't really see anything stopping or reversing this trend barring a sudden social collapse.

It was always doomed, but I think the 2000 election started the chain reaction. That's when the crybaby victimization politics started. I generally think the deep state did steal the election, because 9/11 was already booked. Similar to how Biden got shoved in for Operation: Infinite Beandom. Big short term gains while sacrificing your own future credibility.

Anyway, perceived wins were way too easy for Democrats at that point. People gave them too much leeway, and they completely lost the plot. If the GWB administration had kept the sand wars limited to Afghanistan, I think things would have been different. If the administration had been full of respectable people instead of transparently awful lying cunts, Jon Stewart wouldn't have been a big a thing. And he helped paper over the way the deep state kept right on deep stating with Obama's election.

Identity politics started their downfall. It started back in 2014 for me with GamerGate when sjws wanted to force women into things they had little interest in the name of 'equality'. From there the men-hate started. It morphed into caring about every minority plight from blacks, to gays, illegals, finally working its way up to defense of rapist trannies and violent criminals.

This thinking let in a lot of anti-American values and ideals from Black Lives Matter to Tranny charities getting power and taken seriously. Every year the goalpost for idealogical purity moved more towards the left. Eventually you got to the lunacy of today where foreign nationals get defense from the left and the party sucks the girlcock because trannies said its transphobic to not have sex with them. Here you see the schism of people who wanted worker rights and those that hijacked the party because it fuels their degenerate agenda.

From a leadership perspective, the democrat party made critical errors in sidelining the Bernie bros in 2016 and are still paying for it. The DNC changed the rules so Hillary could win the nomination and never took any of Sanders' platform seriously. That left a bad taste in the mouths of many who didn't want corpo democrat uniparty candidate.

Biden and his administration then killed the hobbling corpse of neoliberalism. Democrats got lucky with covid and were able to convince enough people + fraud to vote for old Biden. Succinctly put, Biden was a stupid nigger who let IDpol run all over his administration and never kept them in check unlike Obama. He could have won if he kept the IDpol people out of power and handled the economy better. The failure of the economy and endless importation of brown people leaching off the system caused many to break for Trump. Biden loss was a clear sign that the democrats failed to deliver, govern and gauge the American voter.

Whats left of the democrat party are the uniparty elders, Pelosi, Schumer et al who don't want to lose their careers and the new anti-American left with AOC, Mandami, Rasiba Talib, Omar, etc.

"Death of the Liberal Class" by Chris Hedges is a good primer.
Thanks for the recommendation! Just went over to Amazon.
Obama, the so-called most progressive President ever, was completely captured by corporate interests and the market cheerleaders. He was funded and pushed by them. His campaign was staffed by Ivy Leaguers, technocrats, business executives, and Big Data wizards. Remember, Obama was the one who signed off on TARP in 2009, but he had zero idea how to fix or regulate things.
Obama was also POTUS during the Benghazi incident (although Hillary was the real face of villainy for that one) and he bungled the Dakota pipeline protest, being retarded enough to allow the incompetent LEOs to bring in anti-airplane artillery to... I don't know... scare some randos?

Obama only got elected for three reasons: Bush sucked and was a laughing stock by the end of his presidency, he was young, he was black.

For my two cents, I think there are a ton of factors involved in what killed the left.

1. The Democratic royalty were tainted.

The Kennedys were engrossed in scandals and conspiracies, and the Clintons were total trainwrecks. While I recall meeting a guy at our local Republican primaries who said he was there because the left had lost its way (and that's partly why I was there, too), I think there were still a significant number of Democrats who were very happy with Obama. Unfortunately, Obama didn't leave a dynasty, unless you count Biden.

2. Inflaming the culture war and the start of media manipuation.

When Obama was elected, any criticism of him from the right was chalked up to racism. The Tea Party movement that was started by Ron Paul supporters and planned well in advance of Obama's election? Racism. Do you not like how Obama reneged on his promise to end the War on Terrorism and instead decided to just follow Bush's original timetables? You're just racist. Mad that Obama promised to put every bill online so you can "read it before I sign it" and then immediately urged Congress to sign a massive bill that no one had time to read because the housing crisis meant there was no time for transparency? You sick racist!

The media also started really manipulating things around this time. I remember CNN(?) showing a picture of a guy with a rifle at one of the Tea Party protests and screaming about racist whites. The photo didn't show the whole person, just his leg and the rifle. Why? Because it was a black man who came to the protest with a gun to take a stand against big government and foreign wars

They also filmed a black Congressman walking into the midst of angry protesters, who would have been there shouting and shaking their fists at literally anyone who came out, and said it was "just like Selma". That crossed the line for a lot of people and showed that the media was trying to control the narrative.

To see what this lead to, just watch any left-wing outlet denying that Biden was anything other than a drooling dementia patient who needed a constant caretaker.

3. Purity tests.

Once upon a time, Democrats and Republicans disagreed more peacefully with each other. They didn't view each other as mortal enemies like they do now, but the left no longer stands for any diversity of thought, even within their own party.

Think of it this way: when Ron Paul ran as a Republican, despite being a Libertarian, the old guard didn't like it and went way out of their way to silence him. However, they eventually came to realize that Libertarians were going to infiltrate the party, and they could either tolerate them and work to find common ground or push them (and their voting power) away. As a result, Republicans come in a large variety (neocons, MAGAs, Libertarians, anarcho-capitalists, etc.), so you really have to go issue-by-issue when finding a candidate to support. They're allowed to debate each other and disagree and aren't quite the terror they were in 2008 and 2012.

When the left got invaded by socialists, they proceeded to do what socialists do: control the thoughts and behaviors of others. Because of this, you can get situations like JK Rowling's. Rowling was a good liberal who parroted all the correct talking points and believed all the correct things, until one day there was a line she couldn't fully cross. As they sing in The Book of Mormon musical, "You cannot just believe partway; you have to believe in it all."

If you can't get behind everything, the left doesn't want you. In fact, they'll tell you just how racist and transphobic you are, which makes people just dig in their heels. They aren't interested in a conversation, they want to shame and dominate.

It doesn't help that they get more and more extreme. Abortion vans at the DNC? How about you guys go back to focusing on foreign policy and your retarded Keynesian economics and stop making these social issues the end-all-be-all of your ideology? This is how we got retards like Kamala Harris and Tampon Tim running for office.

The Republicans aren't exactly shining right now, either. But at least they aren't trying to shut down anyone who goes against their core platform.

And they haven't turned into this:

I don't think there is any single "thing" you can point to and say "This is what killed the Left". It was a number of things over a long period of time. Their policies for the most part simply are unsustainable and completely ignore the realities of the human condition. Ignoring that not all cultures and races are equal, nor are they compatible. Some cultures/races are simply inferior and incompatible with civilized Western culture because they have very different values and standards (such as attitudes towards pedophilia, or values such as honesty). For a long time the Left has ignored reality and simply voted for whatever made them feel good, such as open borders or soft on crime policies. Along with that, the people who made these policies or voted for the politicians who made them were isolated away from the real world consequences of those policies being implemented due to being wealthy and not living in the communities impacted by those policies. They weren't the ones having their jobs taken by some H1B Pajeet or their little girl raped by some illegal alien Muslim or Spic.

Leftist politicians turned their back on the working class citizens and exclusively fought for illegal aliens, criminals, sexual degenerate, and major corporations. Instead of fighting to make life better for the average citizen of their country, they instead decided to attempt to secure longterm power by flooding the country with illegal aliens until the problem seemingly became too great and costly to solve through the deportation process, so they had planned to push for amnesty ("They're already here! They're part of their communities now and are contributing to society! They just want a chance to make a better life for themselves and it would be cruel to send them back now!"), and eventually blanket citizenship so that the illegals would feel indebted to them and vote for them. Even if they only got amnesty, their children who were born in-country as legal citizens would feel grateful to them for making it so their parents could stay and vote for them. Not to mention the increased census numbers in blue areas giving them more power (at least in the US).

They turned their backs on straight men, especially straight white men. They spent years demonizing straight men, calling them all rapists, misogynistic, toxic masculinity, the patriarchy, etc. They pushed their stooges in the entertainment industry to ruin everything from movies, to video games, to comic books, to TV shows into woke, faggy propaganda. Any time men spoke up and said "Hey, this isn't what we want. We don't like this crap." they were attacked, canceled, and insulted. Just look at how Disney took the two most successful franchises (Star Wars and Marvel), which were solidly male-focused, and turned them into yet another girl brand.

And then there was the smug, self-important, superior attitude that came out of the Left. Not just the politicians and their propagandists in the media and entertainment, but their voters as well. How many times have you seen a Lefty on social media claim that they were "on the right side of history" without a shred of irony over a topic like trans rights or supporting the BLM race riots after Fentanyl Floyd OD'd?

Lefties sold out their countries and their own countrymen for globalism. Globalism that only served the machinations of billionaire businessmen and their megacrops. It eroded national sovereignty and cultural identity for every Western nation.

They pushed censorship and thought policing, making it impossible to actually talk about the serious issues our countries faced, like illegal immigration, black crime, tranny rapists and child groomers, and Muslim grooming gangs. You couldn't actually try to find actual solutions because if you brought up the topic you'd be labeled an evil, racist, transphobic, xenophobic, Nazi bigot and thousands of crybullies would smear your name across social media, harass your employer until you lost your job, get your accounts banned, and get the payment processors to make it impossible to support yourself.

And then there was the general hypocrisy. The Left would label anyone who even slightly disagreed with them as a "fascist" and accuse them of violence, but it was the Left who for years they were beating and even killing their political opponents, using intimidation to get their way, censoring speech, and silencing their critics.

And this is only a small sample of what turned people away from the Left and ended the Progressive Era that began in the early 20th Century. This doesn't even touch on the actual results of their policies such as the destruction of the black family and degeneracy of black culture, the economic turmoil, the housing crisis, the devaluation of money, the cultural rot, the erosion of patriotism...and it's not just in America, but every Western nation.

Diversity.

I could go on at length about policies, attitudes, goals, etc, and a discussion could be had on whether or not they're correct, but at the end of the day if the person your side chooses to represent these ideas for you is a man in a dress, you're just wrong.

I don't care how many studies you have, I don't care who you have backing you, if you think putting racist mouthy nigger bitches in charge is a good idea, nothing you say matters.

Muslims, unironically
I'd lump this into identity politics.

The Muslims angle and diversity is funny because it doomed them on two fronts. Kamala was the diversity hire veep to get Clyburn's blessing in 2020 and that pick failed them when Joe 404'ed into the campaign. There is building friction between the Muslims, gays and trannies, not to mention the friction between blacks and illegal goblins and jeets.

The democrat party was a bunch of special interest groups but once they started replacing white voters with the diversity IDpol side quests, the infighting started trying to see who was the biggest victim. Their current trajectory was unsustainable but I didn't expect to blow up so spectacularly for them with almost 10+ years of Trump.

Another point for this latest election was the legendary blunder of lying about Biden, then denying all evidence to his senility, then turning around with a "oops, he's fucked", and picking fucking Kamala of all people as a replacement candidate.
By the end of 2019, she already was polling as one of the worst possible candidates for the DNC.
Combine that with the sheer incompetence in her rallying and branding, I made a post during the election about her biggest rally, I can't quote it so I'll paraphrase it:

Watching the Kamala stream, I noticed something just now.
Imagine that you are at a random day a year and a half ago. You have no idea Kamala wants to run for president, you don't even think about her that much.
Then, you see this image, what does it make you think of?

1756924606995.webp
1756924624750.webp

There's nothing identifying there, there's no brand, no logos, no design language, nothing, if you told me this was AI generated, I would have absolutely no objections. This is generic as hell.
American elections have a lot of marketing going on, and Kamala's entire platform is basically playing with emotions and belonging (middle class etc).
Why is there nothing the "customers" (yeah that's wierd to say, but that's how it is) can hang on to? Recognize? Identify with?

This is also why "Make America X Again", the red hats, as well as the square outlines are such important part of Trump's marketing, they're easy to identify, remember, and repeat.

I guess what killed the left is Sloth. Zero effort.
Collect rapefugees like pokemon cards.
Accumulate endless diverse people.
Divide these people to conquer them.
Hope they all hate whites and the GOP as much as possible.
Watch zero-effort votes roll in.
