What are some nice online communities out there? - Or communities that you miss and that are gone now?

But for reals, communities online can't stay nice in any sense of the word for much longer if they don't discipline themselves. The Farms ensures you learn very fucking quickly what it means to be disciplined and responsible, that actions have consequences, and that you remember to wipe your feet before you come in. You fail to adhere to that, you get the paddle. Kind of like this but everyone just calls you a faggot.

Communities I miss:

1) The old Age of Empires III modding community. The Napoleonic Era and War of the Triple Alliance forums. They were pretty young and I got into them when I was in junior high, I think. Was the start of my serious posting career. I didn't mod but I played their mods, and they were a good bunch to just talk about stuff with. Gave me my love of Off Topic sections. It just sort of died down and I got bored of it, I guess. I couldn't remember the people from there like actual people in my life, but I still remember names and even a little bit of personality here and there.

2) I don't really want to say the specific name, but I was part of a Neo-Reactionary turned Alt-Right website way back in the day. They were pretty sane back then and were interesting because they had a diversity of opinion and no regulation, instead of just being a skinhead circlejerk. It ate up my high school life and formed a chunk of my worldview. They got taken over by Stormfront types, though, and ruined. I kind of spoiled it for myself, too, because I would overshare. Talked about my personal life way too much. I miss the experience of talking to them, but it's the sort of thing that can never be again. I did get one pseudo-RL friend out of it (dude who I'd talk to over a camera, but he lived far away).

I consider this site my home on the internet, at least until it either gets taken down by google or becomes /pol/ lite

Political types have a great potential to destroy forums. Fascists are an especially large problem because, like SJWs, they conspire with each other to take over platforms and ruin them. They'll come in under a banner of free speech, saying that you all need to stick together to fight a bigger problem, and once they've got the majority, they purge people who disagree with them.
