DIG UP VIRGINIA, BOOOOOOYS. The movie is okay...ish. Governor Ratcliffe, Wiggins, and the other white dudes are my fav. Virginia Company and Mine, Mine, Mine are 10/10 songs. The character designs are great. Very western without being bug-eyed like Disney often is. At the beginning of the movie the main native tribe is coming back from war with a neighboring tribe, which I forgot and also find kinda funny since the film treats the Powhatan tribe like it's the only one. They're not fighting the white men to protect other tribes, only themselves. The story is kinda meh. I remember as a kid not understanding the ripple metaphor and as an adult the scene is like, "This is supposed to be wise and profound advice that turns the tides??" Also it wasn't clear if Ratcliffe was upset to learn there was no gold or if he was intentionally lying to the company. It is technically impressive and well made but learning the real story sours the film. Idk if they could ever do a live action version unless they went about it old school live action Disney film style and presented the real story under a different title. Or not cuz y'know controversy and ragebaiting sells these days and most people don't actually care.
