Sounds like it. They also spent several years developing the show so it makes sense it kind of encapsulates the mid-90's despite being released in 1999-2000. Real shame no one puts that much effort into writing anymore.

I find it insane that Mission Hill didn't get a second wind and a second season on Adult Swim. It's got edge, it appeals to teens and adults, that's your target audience. It can even be something your 40 year old parents relate to, like that one episode where it turned out Wally was actually not-Ed Wood, or when it made fun of The Real World. Hell, it was brought over to Adult Swim barely three years after it was killed off, why didn't it get the Home Movies treatment? Were the rights to the series that much more expensive than the rights to air it?
It wasn't called Family Guy or Robot Chicken and so it got one season and then killed off.
What, and Home Movies was? Not to say it was bad, but come on now. It was hardly the star of UPN.
