Tnx bro. :)
I have access to a rudimentary basement gym. Not my own, but the owner let's me in. With dumper weights coated with rubber, neighbors hear nothing and have no idea a small gym is working in their apartment building.

LOL dumper weights. Sounds like a brony "training device"

Been using a home gym setup with some secondhand equipment that doesn't feel too great, thinking about upgrading.

Considering getting a Rogue Ohio bar but don't really know jack-shit about different materials. Stainless steel should be fine. Anyone had any experience with it?

hi sorry for the dumbass question because i’m a fuckin idiot but is it bad to use dumbbells which have more weight on one end than the other? not much weight difference.

for instance a dumbbell with 2.5 kg weights on either end but one 1.25 kg weight on one end.

It's going to effect how your muscles contract when lifting somewhat. It probably won't make much difference at such low weight like that. I mean to be honest even if you are a total noob I'd start at 10-15 pound dumbbells minimum and work your way up. Definitely keep the weight even if you can.

So, I'm answering this from the perspective of an engineer, not a kineseologist. (Meaning this is a wild-ass guess based on physics and booze.) But the imbalance of weight is going to generate a torque on a joint that you're not trying to generate, even (especially!) if you do an exercise "perfectly" otherwise. You could say the weight will want to spin, where it normally wouldn't spin if it was balanced. This could lead to shit like bad form, or unintended wear on a joint. If it's a small imbalance like you mention, it's probably not a big deal unless you have a preexisting injury.

But like, just don't be fucking ghetto, balance the other half of the weight. It's just some concrete in a plastic tube, or some iron washers or a hubcap or whatever.

One kilo will feel uneven but i doubt its a big enough disparity to effect you. Weights is weights, the worst i can see is you becoming accustomed to it.

thanks everyone. i’ll definitely use balanced weights. better safe than sorry

For the powerlifting Kiwis, whats your favorite aproach, method, or any tip you want to share? I've been doing it on and off for about three years, its a bit dificult because where I live there is very little understanding of powerlifting training, we have some good lifters, but nothing elite.

Anyone know of any companies in America that still have some stock of kettlebells (24-32kg)? Everywhere has lead times of at least a month and the last place waited 2 weeks to cancel my order. I’m dying for some iron.

I've been doing resistance band work. I don't know if you need kettle bells for a specific reason, but the bands are very effective and a set is pretty cheap. No one believes me at first, but I definitely recommend a 100lb set in total

I just like them because space is limited. Got a set of bands you recommend?

Weight plates etc are sold-out almost everywhere here in Britain as well. And the people still selling them are charging insane prices.

Water jugs, boys. Fill em with water or concrete or whatever. They even come with a handle.

Kettlebell workouts can be fun like swings and Turkish get-ups.

I want to buy a pair of adjustable dumbbells that will last forever, but I'm not sure what to get. What do you recommend?

I want a pair of dumbbells, sized for either standard or olympic plates, that are large enough to hold up to 100 lbs of plates on each dumbbell. The plate-holding area needs to be extra long.

I'm not interested in those click-and-adjust dumbbells, I want something that no moving parts and can't fail.

Preacher curls : 5 reps @ 50lbs
Arnold press : 5 reps @ 25lbs
Bench press : 5 reps @ 85lbs
5 sets each
Run 2 miles

I've been doing this for the last few days (haven't seriously worked out in years).

I need recommendations for legs (which I am NOT looking forward to). Squats? Deadlifts? Sled? Lunges? All of them?
