Yeah well the reality is most people who go to the gym don't lift correctly, have jobs outside the gym (Office, construction), health problems other sports. Sure if your a professional weight lifter you might be able to forgo stretching but the the average gym goer they should not.I don't skip stretching, but in my defense, I "get" why Mentzer said that stretching is rather unnecessary, because you're supposed to do all exercises, all reps, by performing max stretching and max contraction. So if you do your shit right, in theory you shouldn't need to stretch after you're done.
It's tough, but doable.
Also a lot of power lifters, strongmen do dynamic stretching which is kino.
