noobfag question but any tips for bar position on squats?? I do lowbar and people in my gym say i do them correctly but the bar somehow digs into the bone of my shoulders and it hurts after lol. Is it just how it is or what? I think im doing something wrong :p
I use a tanktop with a hoodie. That's enough cushioning for me at least.
Was a bit of a nice confidence boost today, I finished my leg presses and a guy asked if he could use it after me.

Pretty tall, very defined legs. Didn't take any weight off and he was struggling. I'm only doing about 170lbs each side, but still a feels good moment.
It's always the tall lanky guys that are weak as fuck. Guy is clearly not eating enough. Defined is not really an indicator for being strong

Bros I threw up 305 this week on bench press. I’m so fucking stoked. The guys spotting me said “you didn’t even need a spotter.” It was a beautiful press and I threw it up like butter. I think next week I’m going to try for 3pl8s or higher. I’m an oldfag so I doubt I take it further but I just had to tell someone about this. I’M FINALLY IN THE 300 CLUB AND NO ONE CAN TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME. Praise the lord!
Thats kino brother keep it up.

Unironically answer: Bent over rows and overhead press. They build up the muscles in your back that the bar sits on.

Now that I am getting more serious about cardio, this caught my eye.

For now, 20min on the assault bike/airdyne 4 days a week -at a reasonable pace- is plenty, but since I loathe sweating like a pig, this could work very well.

I know I'll still sweat my balls off, but at a "slower" pace.

EDIT: also, this... 306Kg (675Lbs in murican units) fail

The bar I was using was bent. On the way up, it rolled onto my neck. Fortunately, I was able to dump it without getting injured #RespectTheDepth

That was REALLY fucking close, it could have ended really fucking bad, holy shit. Here he recently released a commentary about it:

Thanks frens. ;)Ill do both.:heart-full:
The tank top + hoodie for padding might work for you, but for me I find it kind of puts things off center.

You should be able to make a "shelf" for the bar to sit on with your shoulders, you will get used to it eventually, maybe just do a practice set with out weights (assuming you haven't done this already) to try and get a feel for how you should place it.

Speaking of back training - be sure to learn how to do rows from the very best.

Dorian had a MASSIVE back, his "Yates rows" are legendary for a reason.

That's not to say that you'll get huge like Yates if you do them like he used to, but learn from his technique.
I do love Yates Rows. With the overhand grip it's a lot of upper traps and that whole line of muscles across your back, and with an underhand grip it's a lot of lats and it's a really good stretch and squeeze.
I also use an EZ Curl bar for them, it puts your wrists in a good position.

Got through a bench plateau recently. It was pretty much entirely mental, for whatever reason once the bar starts moving too slow, I freak out and bail on the set, even though I've failed plenty of reps and by now I should've internalized that it's really no big deal aside the hit to the ego.
The way I got my bench press up was by not caring about it. Sometimes I’ll do sets with 205, sometimes 185, sometimes 225, and sometimes reps to failure with 135. All the while my ORM was growing and I didn’t even know it.

Arnie mogged a couple roasties on a TV talk show, I didn't know that.
Adapted footage used from the Dating show - the original story happened on a New York tv program called Midday Live for which the original footage remains then property of the station. The 10 women chosen were women from Esquire magazine named the top young professional women of the year.

Also, I got my Seiko "Arnie" watch, it's everything that I hoped for, and more.

Since I am working on my forearms, it just looks better if you have developed forearms - it's almost like the watch wasn't meant to be worn by skinnyfats, and Seiko couldn't have chosen a better model for the watch, back in the '80s when it came out.

Anyone have experience taking dumbbells on a road trip and working out while on the road?

I'm going on a 2 week ski trip end of next week and I'm thinking about taking my 30 lb & 40 lb dumbbells to do a quick version of my normal regimen before snowboarding every morning.

I usually just take bands and gymnast rings, those are easy to pack and very light.

Virgin gym goer moment today. Wanted to use the smith machine for some shoulder presses, there was a group of big guys benching for my entire session.....so I didn't do my presses because I was afraid of getting in their way. :(

Some other clown got chalk all over the machines too, of course the girls who work here are just sitting on IG instead of doing anything remotely useful.

That would be my weapon of choice too. Maybe also bring a pull-up bar like pic related (it has a screw mechanism inside and holds on to the doorframe with friction, so i dont damage the walls) so i am guaranteed a place to hang them

I had one of those, I'll be real I did not trust it and it actually had some screws.
But really, even if you aren't travelling rings are amazing to have.

Well there's surely some barbells and dumbbells right? Anyway, just gotta ask to work in, and help them get the weight on and off I guess.

Today sucked. Tested squat on Saturday, hit about 147kg or so as my 1RM based on 4 reps at 130kg. Got some different answers based on different calculators. All of them at least said over 140kg, so I'm definitely in the 3pl8 club there. Tested bench today and my wrist tendonitis flared up. Felt like I got cheated. Seeing a doctor about it tomorrow. Next line of treatment I got told was an injection of hydrocortisone.

It happened in the stupidest way, just picking up a bag in the morning and boop wrist gets stabbed by ghosts. I move my thumb wrong and god strikes me down in anger now. I toughed it out, slathered some indometacin on it and wrapped it up tight. Riding a bike to the gym wasn't a trouble, and I wasn't expecting the world at that point, but the warmup sets went great. I only managed 2 reps at 90kg, which puts my 1RM around 95 or 96, which is a heartbreaker, I'd been aiming for 4 or so. This fucking little injury has taken months of progress away and made me stall at a poverty bench. Meanwhile my lifting buddy hit 3 at 100kg pretty confidently.

Going to have to spam pushups and french presses at home to get my tricep strength and chest endurance up and make my bench bulletproof. Don't like getting beaten. I really don't like still having a poverty bench. Next up is deadlift, a lift I am confidently better than him at and where that particular tendon doesn't matter as much. Longer legs and arms and a stronger back.

I know the gains will come back when my wrist is less fucked up, and it's a marathon not a sprint, and I can definitely reclaim any lost progress with a vengeance, and there's always next time, but it made me angry and sad to miss a goal like that.

I can tell you that I wouldn't mind if a skinny zoomer came in and asked to take turns, don't feel threatened by other dudes.

For all we know, maybe they are cool dudes and would have even spotted you for your last set.

And even if you were at the Metroflex gym in Texas and saw Branch Warren doing bench presses, he'd still be cool enough to let you take turns and train. Don't worry about it, my man.

What are some good lifts to hit my shoulders? Right now I’m just doing overhead presses and upright rows but kinda want some other exercises to add to my routine.
the overhead press and upright row are excellent exercises. Also consider: face pulls and reverse flys (rear shoulder), lateral raise (isolates side delt) and the arnold press
