The World Economic Forum (WEF) is calling for an end to private car ownership. A recently published paper calls for an end to “wasteful” private vehicle ownership in favor of public transportation and communal cars.​

“The average car or van in England is driven just 4% of the time,” the WEF paper states. It then calls on car owners to sell their vehicle because, “Car sharing platforms such as Getaround and BlueSG have already seized that opportunity to offer vehicles where you pay per hour used.”

Ending private car ownership is essential to addressing climate change, the WEF argues. The forum goes on to advocate for the same principles to be applied to city and home designs as well.

“A design process that focuses on fulfilling the underlying need instead of designing for product purchasing is fundamental to this transition,” the WEF wrote. “This is the mindset needed to redesign cities to reduce private vehicles and other usages.”

A number of European nations and U.S. states have already passed legislation that will ban the sale of non-electric cars as soon as 2030. Washington, New York and California have already passed such measures while a growing number of EU member states have done the same.

In Ireland, the government has told citizens that they will be packed into densely populated cities in order to combat climate change. Drivers will be forced off the roads as part of a plan that will “revolutionize” people’s lifestyle and behaviors.

In addition, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has directed global governments to drastically cut oil supply to domestic consumers in order to encourage compliance by “nudging” people out of their private cars.

The IEA 10-point plan to drive “changes in the behavior of consumers” and reduce gas demand at the pump includes reducing speed limits, working from home three days a week, more electric cars, car-free Sundays, more cycle lanes, cheaper public transport and greater use of long-distance trains over planes, Breitbart News reported.

In order to avert a “climate apocalypse”, the government plans to force people “out of private cars because they are the biggest offenders for emissions” with proposals that include banning fossil fuel vehicles from towns and cities nationwide to intentionally cripple ordinary motorists.

So my question is this: If the car situation is so terrible then why aren't we designing cities to facilitate this change? What's the point of these articles when you could achieve the same result by actually funding practical change that would help. Sure if my job was in walking or biking distance then I might just do that, but there's no reason in modern day America to not have a car when I need one to get to any appointment or any store. Getting to the local supermarket would require me to walk through about 7 lanes of traffic, fuck that.

I seen videos of this asshole, claiming public transportation is so much better than driving a car. Reasons being you don't have to pay for gas & you don't have to worry about parking.

Didn't mention you have to wait 20 minutes every time you want to ride the bus, buses only have certain routes & can never drop you off exactly where you want, If its packed, you have to be squeeze in like a sardine, oh & let's not forget the crazy & unbathed homeless that you have to sit next to.

These plans take decades to work. These people are not stupid, they're not going to rush through some bill that takes away your car.

Tracking software that allows your insurance company to give you "better" rates if you use it (already here btw)

No one objected to these measure, in fact hardly anyone even noticed and if they did they weren't given any media attention so it went pretty much under the radar.

Next will be some reason to give the guberment some way to track your cars travels. For "tolls" or "taxes" of course. After that another small step like fees to travel on highways to other cities or your license will only cover one city and you'll have to pay extra to travel more. For climate awareness and to combat global warming of course!

Slowly but surely the rules will tighten, bit by bit, ever so slowly that no one notices it until one day it's just accepted that you have to put in a request to your local gubernment agent to travel outside your "allowed area".

Again, these elites are not fools, they didn't become as wealthy and powerful as they are because they were stupid or lucky. They understand history and will act accordingly. The plan will take decades to complete but that's OK. There is no rush as they have everything to gain in the longer term and nothing to win by alerting the masses.
