They can't because DC would obviously be a Blue State and there is no potential Red State candidate to balance it out.

Every option like Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, etc. always lean Blue because they're filled with brown people. I suppose you could break off Northern California into its own state, but that's very unrealistic. Even then, the examples I listed aside from DC, they can't care about becoming a state and in fact consistently vote against becoming a state because they prefer their unique government types over becoming another state. It's only really DC that chimps out over muh statehood.

The precedent was set when they added Hawaii and Alaska together so one would be Blue, other would be Red.

Kids Constantly Taking Over for Hours​


Nonstop sirens. Still going on and they just change streets. Seems like every week 100s of kids just take over different areas at night. Sometime ago my significant other and I couldn’t even get in to the train because the kids took over and caused a complete shutdown. Next thing I know we’re coughing because the air is filled with mace/pepper spray.

Is there anything being done? Does the city have any real plans? This isn’t just kids having fun. This is going to get dangerous.

NoMa. This is actually the most I’ve seen police do. The last few times they have just shown up and sat in the car while the kids continue to do whatever they want. Is there a hands off mandate in effect?

They broke a few ground floor windows in my NoMa apartment building and threatened some residents with knives a few weeks ago. Apparently, one of them also alluded to coming back with a gun in the future.

In Navy Yard they are harassing people, destroying property, stealing, fighting one another, almost running people over with motorized bikes. They have terrorized Navy Yard with fireworks from 1am-4am the past few weeks. In one of the apartments they set off large fireworks in the courtyard at 1:45am. Not to mention...they are armed. I'm someone who has a pretty high tolerance for kids being kids and having fun but this is not the case in my neighborhood and it's getting a bit scary.

They were recently harassing everyone coming off the metro elevator and not allowing them to exit- asking for money and threatening violence. I also saw them shooting bottle rockets into the Navy Yard CVS. I’m convinced I’m dying by teenager on motorized bike.

It’s the parents. They support their kid going to these things because that’s what they did when they were younger. Difference is now with social media, these events blow up into hundreds if not thousands of teenagers looking to go viral. What they need to do is have instagram or TikTok or whatever the hell crack down on these events when they get posted or shared. It’s also the scooters and e-bikes that these kids codebreak to be able to use for free and skirt away fast after the cops show up. Shut down the Mobile data/wifi area where these meetups happen, take away their ability to go viral.

they are doing smash and grabs all over dc, breaking windows for fun even. they smashed my rental i was driving after being in a car accident 2 weeks before. i had my ipad and purse in there, they took nothing! the whole block of cars had windows smashed, and they pulled a gun on one guy who ran into them during the act. 3 male teens according to an eyewitness. just smashing windows with steel bat. these kids are literally menaces to society.

Ive read several violent reports including shootings and stabbings done by teens. I have also witnessed stuff like kids throwing bricks at pedestrians and the aftermath of a shooting. Not sure curfews are the solution but something has to be done

So I live here, across the street, and we heard gunshots, screams, and heard people were being pepper sprayed. They locked everyone inside the Harris Teeter - no one in or out. The evening started with kids going into Chipotle and standing outside shooting people with nerf guns and water guns and I guess the evening carried on into whatever that was.

Morning practice. You pray for sleep at 3 PM if you have to be up at 4 AM to get cross town by 6. A 400 lap for every minute you were late.

plus as a millenial, we all abided by the “streetlights” rule. you had to be home by the time the streetlights came on. for me as girl, in my strict family, we could not leave our neighborhood block, and had to be inside by 6pm during the summer. that was dinner time so we had to get washed up and ready to eat at 7 and binge tv the last few hours then go to bed. there was never any 11pm scenarios ever possible. that front door wasn’t even allowed to be open past 9pm. so i really don’t understand how these kids are just running the streets like this. no way their parents don’t know how dangerous DC is, teen girls are going missing and boys are getting shot. i feel like the parents have failed end of the day. my parents would have never allowed any of us to roam the streets at night, at any age and i didn’t leave home until college when i was 19.

We already spend more on youth programming than any other city in the world. One note about Baltimore, it’s awesome that they’ve expanded their services for the kids, but over the past 4 years they’ve also increased their police budget by nearly $100m, and their State Attorney is a ruthless prosecutor.

Stop. They are indeed a problem that needs to be dealt with. Their parents are so useless they’re practically feral. They have no supervision whatsoever. No consequences either. I was never allowed to gallivant aimlessly around the streets at night. If I wanted to go out it was Saturday only (Mon-Friday evenings were for homework and tv) and there had to be legitimate plans in place. My parents needed to know where I was going, who I was going with, what we’re doing and for how many hours, drop me off, shake hands with my friend’s parents, pick me up at a reasonable time. If I broke any of these rules, I had my Caribbean father waiting at the door with a belt. These raggedy kids have no home training and no respect for their community. There is plenty of funding going to community programs, they don’t show up. The DMV area has some of the most well-funded youth initiatives in the country. Free writing and filmmaking workshops, free gym and sports at the community centers, free night classes for teen parents, free IT and medical assistant trainings for 16+, trades apprenticeships, video games and movies for rent at the library, free events all summer at the parks, free concerts at the wharf and MLK library, the Smithsonian, the arboretum, local punk and underground hip hop shows for $12 (most of them are all ages), skateboarding at freedom plaza, hitting up the trails with a friend, having picnics at fort Reno etc. they don’t live in a town in the middle of Idaho where there’s nothing to do and no money for programs so stop circulating that lie. They have access to so much and they don’t care. They don’t utilize the services. They don’t want to participate in productive activities that will allow them to learn or grow or connect with others in a positive way. They want to glamorize the dysfunctional lifestyles of the criminal rappers and podcast bro incels they idolize because they don’t have any decent parents, older siblings, or neighbors to look up to. They don’t read or watch anything of value so they don’t even have good quality parasocial figures to aspire to. I used to look up to the characters on Living Single and A Different World. I’d watch reruns with my mom and these shows got me excited about being the cute, college educated Black girl with the perfectly coordinated outfits. They rot their brains with reality tv that platforms ratchet people and normalizes trashy clothing, trashy behavior, and violence. It’s pathetic. Stop defending them. If you ever catch yourself alone in a metro car with them, they won’t hesitate to attack you and steal your phone and wallet.

Thank you. I have been around the DMV for a long while. The programs and support that people claim these kids need does indeed exist already. The problem is that the families don’t want to participate. The parents wants to be cool and it isn’t cool to go to a community event sponsored by the city.

It’s the parents. It’s their fault. They don’t care. They are trying to maintain an image.

I’ll add that for every bad kid on the streets, there are good kids. They are home with their family or doing something that keeps them off the streets.

Thank you. I used to do late night sports near where this clip was taken. Games started at 10pm, and we frequently had gangs of kids as young as 8 rolling up on bikes yelling about how they hoped the women playing got breast cancer and in one instance a child pulled a knife. I don't even blame these kids, but I blame the parents for utterly failing to raise them or provide any level of parenting. More after-school activities are not going to solve this problem, honestly the solution needs to include charging the parents. These parents are failing their children, and allowing their children to act this way is going to lead to them ending up in jail when they're adults as they're never taught right from wrong.

We spend more and more on youth then any other city in the world, the issue is we have trashy shit people popping out kids and they don't parent. We give plenty of opportunities for kids to make the right choices, but as you see, they don't make them. These kids pack guns, kill people, and terrorize the city - we should give them all opportunities to succeed but we need to stop turning our heads and blaming everyone else when they make the decision to be utter trash.

I grew up in the suburbs with parents who loved me, so I didn't do stuff like this. I was usually asleep by eleven, or watching TV/playing vidya if it was summer vacation. Maybe I should have been getting in more trouble, I don't know, but the idea that the municipality has to provide entertainment for children all night long or they will go feral is completely alien to me. I have no problem with the Guard kettling these midnight rowdies and detaining them until the police arrive.

A man has been arrested on a charge that he hurled a sandwich at a federal law enforcement official in the nation's capital amid a surge in law enforcement patrols ordered by the White House, according to a court filing Wednesday.

Sean Charles Dunn, 37, of Washington, D.C., approached a group of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents late Sunday, pointed a finger in an agent's face and swore at him, calling him a "fascist," a police affidavit says. An observer's video captured Dunn throwing a sub-style sandwich at the agent's chest, the affidavit says.

"Why are you here? I don't want you in my city!" Dunn shouted, according to police.

Dunn tried to run away but was arrested on a federal assault charge, police said.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Dunn.

The incident coincided with President Donald Trump's push to flood the city with National Guard troops and federal officers. Trump claims crime in the city has reached emergency levels, but city leaders point to statistics showing violent crime at a 30-year low.

Generally you want the police to handle everything, but if you think there's a chance everything will go sideways badly you want the millitary on hand. Of course that's a rather optimistic concern about the ability of liberals to organize and be willing to fight and die for their principles.

If any of you have ever been to DC, you know how bad that shit is. Not to powerlevel too much but I spend half a decade on the wrong side of the beltway. DC is occupied territory, it needs to be demolished. So-called Washingtonians enshittify Maryland, formerly a wonderful state. Their liberal policies ruined one of America's former greatest cities, Baltimore. Until I see a Bradley turn a crackhead into mist, or M240s ripping into a negroid takeover of a city block, the issue won't disappear.

All of that to say, DC doesn't have a crime problem, it has a negro problem. It has a cowardice problem. Ship them all off to Liberia where they belong, send the Yankees back to the hell they were spawned from, and suddenly DC and Baltimore will become beautiful clean cities once again.
