I find it fascinating that the people who are willing to assign blame for a violent murder rape of a young white girl to a Jew with no past criminal record over a black man with a history of criminal behavior are the same people who repeat 1352 as if its a mantra. a little consistency would be nice, is all I'm asking
I think if Frank wasn't a carpetbagger they absolutely would have convicted the black guy.they shoulda just killed em both to be sure
Leo was sus, but it really does seem (in retrospect and with more info regarding Conley's testimony) that he was innocent. Wild.
From what I was reading, Conley's testimony was full of holes, especially regarding his story of how he moved Mary's body. The elevator apparently wasn't able to operate in the way he described having moved her.Idk man, if the KKK didn't believe that the black guy with a criminal record did it well that alone should tell you leo was guilty.
Also, Conley's defense attorney eventually became convinced his client did it and supplied evidence for Frank's defense team.
That's all pretty weak stuff if you read the details. The elevator thing is particularly memeworthy. Apparently there was a pile of excrement and some other junk at the bottom of the elevator shaft, because employees would throw stuff down there and some of the black employees would use it as a toilet. The cops took the junk as potential evidence during their investigation, and noticed obvious drag marks coming out of the elevator, leading them to believe that Mary's body was transported via the elevator. Later the cops used the elevator and squished the shit. Therefore, the defense argued that Conley and Frank could not have used the elevator to transport Mary's body, as Conley claimed. Except they could have just stopped the elevator a little bit early (eg. to unload a heavy object), or the elevator could have stopped by hitting the other junk at the bottom of the elevator shaft. Or someone else could have pooped in the elevator shaft later. But they got up in court and railed "IF THE SHIT AIN'T SQUISHED, YOU MUST ACQUIT". It didn't work. From what I was reading, Conley's testimony was full of holes, especially regarding his story of how he moved Mary's body. The elevator apparently wasn't able to operate in the way he described having moved her.
The note paper used for the supposed confession notes were outdated and identical sheets were found in the basement, but not Frank's office.

I don't think we'll ever have 100% certainty, and Frank was and remains sus, but it really does seem like Conley did it. I don't for a second believe Leo had no knowledge of this, though.
He also had a reputation for treating the girls in the pencil factory as his own personal harem. So add “pedophile” to the list of things he was, including murderer.Didn’t his wife and most of the Jewish community in Georgia basically admit he was a creepy fuck and refused to come to his aid?
