Warhammer 40k

I actually really liked her and the beat cop going on a detective adventure together, tracking down leads, doing good cop bad cop, foot chases, shootouts, and all that jazz. All to crack the case and uncover the truth.

Meanwhile, the police station is a bombed out wreck, the ongoing riots have reduced whole hive towers to rubble, the Arbites' lady's boss got bodied trying to stage a coup, and the literal sky is falling.

But damm if beat cop doesn't send that 'yo boss, maybe we got a GSC problem' message before he eats it because he's ride or die that way.

It's the kind of disaster movie tragic that works for me and a lot of the endings (like the insurgents from the other hive) have that quality to them.

I also really liked how tedious and annoying dealing with the retarded rich families are from the administrative side of things. We don't get enough discussion about local government policy in 40k. Plus, seeing GSC do their thing on a planet without Space Marines and the like around to pull off heroic bullshit was rad. "What happens when nids show up at some random planet?" is at least unique.

I hope Abnett gets to write something related to knight houses sometime. Dude would go crazy inventing peasant levies and royal customs for the giant robot paladins.
Yeah her plot thread working with the local cop was honestly great, right up until the end when basically nothing happens. If she had at least been able to send the message herself? I dunno, they had a good dynamic right up until that point.

Fuck, the fact that we got their voting system for their legislature explained in detail is riduclous, and interesting. And yes, the best part of the book was a lack of space marines or equivalent to do any heroic bullshit. At the end of the day it was all normal ass people.

A knight world would fit a feudal world that @Professor Donger mentioned, and certainly be a hell of a lot different than a hive to the point of being able to do something else with the entire thing. Knight world that hasn't been re-discovered yet, or was re-discovered and then administratively forgotten about again for a few thousand years? They can deal with the local wildlife, but the moment a real xenos threat emerges all hell breaks loose type thing I could see working.

I really liked how as shit unfolds, you realize how absolutely pointless their investigation really was.

Also, the Security chick's death was just sad, honestly. I really liked her, and her getting devoured by the Nids was brutal.

A lot of the deaths in this book were pretty brutal.

That would be the perfect use of his particular brand of autism. Would certainly be far more interesting than what GRRM has shat out for his last few books. Could just give us Game of Thrones in space, FFS, now with added giant robot fights. Could have the various Knight Houses on the planet engaged in a centuries-long succession war after the unifying ruling house was wiped out in a coup that was foiled at the last minute by a loyal retainer, and then they're forced to set aside their differences to respond to this unforeseen threat...

Wait. Why does that sound so familiar?

Finally got around to finishing my vespid kill team. Taking accurate photos is as difficult as painting is. I tried all sorts of lighting and backgrounds to try and get the colors right and this is the best I could come up with. Tried to get a few example shots.

It's achieved "Good Enough" status though the bases aren't done yet. I want to try my hand at dry brushing the concrete so it doesn't look completely flat. I don't have the right colors to really decorate it. I need some kind of brass I think for rusty rebar. The rest of my army I plan to be standing on beach sand. I think this team might have to be the exception, unless I try to make it look like the sands are reclaiming the ruins. I need to do a bit more planning for that but otherwise I consider this to be good enough for now. My next project is going to be a Riptide.

I'm still trying to find a kill team I like outside of the ork ones.

New update has dropped and GW continues to make their rules as difficult as possible. The article briefly touches on what rules were updated but they also admit it's not comprehensive. So where do you find all the new updates? Split across several different documents and the app of course. Which documents contain which rule updates? What keyword do you need to search for in the app to find the new ruling? It's a secret, just start poking around I'm sure you'll find it. For example transport now must deploy with a unit inside of it. Where is that change? Is it in the handy "Universal Rules Updates" document? No of course not because that would be retarded. No it's only in the app specifically under the Transport Capacity rule. You can only find it on the app, and it doesn't appear in any of the 23 previous search results when you search for transport. There's a new rule for reviving character models and how they must be revived as a separate unit. Where's that rule? Not in the Universal Rules Updates, not under the heal rule. Only certified Warhammer autists who regularly re-read the entire rule book will find the wording on this. Who knows what else was changed, because now that updated core rules will only appear in app, and the app does not document what changed it's anyone's guess what else was updated that wasn't mentioned in the warcom article.

Purge the Foe layouts changed to always split the center objective. Units that are extra killy got point increases. They realized they forgot to tell people you can only generate 1 CP per battle round and finally included that in all event companions
. Any unit like chronomancers that was -1 to hit will now mostly be stealth so the penalties don't stack. Some exceptions still remain like Fulgrim. Some of the units they forgot to give frame to now have frame. Apparently there are some rules that explicitly allow deep striking turn 1 and others that don't. They don't give examples just saying that the rules should be clearer. Some detachments went up in DP or got their disposition changed. Mont'Ka is now priority assests for some reason and Ret Cadre is the 3DP Purge the Foe detachment. Might be worth checking the MFM to see if your army changed.

Boys went up to 160 points for 20 from 150, also Boyz cost 170 once you go past your third unit of them. The Dakkarig went up 15 points. You can't take three leaders in boys anymore (though to be fair I wasn't doing this to begin with)

Warboss, Painboy and Mek all went up by like 10 points. Greentide is 3 DP now because it was too strong at 2 DP.

Wazdakka can ingress move on turn 1 which is hilarious. Since you can select his engine during your first command phase, choose Shock Attack Engine, and then ingress move him on your first turn.

I think overall I'm fine with the changes to the Orks, especially since we're getting the full codex for them in like two weeks.

Edit: also check the Field Manual for your armies if you play, most armies had point increases or decreases.

These are dope. Are they for 40k or KT? They're one of my favorites to play in KT.

If you haven't actually tried playing them, Wrecka Krew is also very fun and true to Orks, or so I'm told. Not so sure about Kommandos

Thank you. I'm going to play them in 40k though I guess I now own a kill team. I've never taken the time to actually learn how to play kill team but it seems like fun. If I was picking for Kill Team I probably would've picked on of the actual Tau sets like stealth suits or pathfinders. Pathfinders don't even show up on the Warhammer site, and stealth suits have been out of stock since release, but I guess it's better to order from a store offering the 15% discount anyways.

I'm still a little bitter that the stealth suit kill team replaced the old unit because now I'm left with a unit of 3 stealth suits that are completely worthless and can't be played in any game.

Maybe. The fucking admech poop train in that recent necron book is something I didn't need a chapter about though. Wasn't Abnett, but is a prime example of doing things wrong.
The poop train was unironically the least boring thing about that boring ass book. Tomb World sucked, and I'm not going to pretend it didnt. TDK is a better Necron novel in every single way and its not even close.
Just listened to The First Wall.

So there is an imperial army regiment from Africa, and they sing work songs like they are out there picking cotton, and they literally say that they wuz kangz, and then they turn out to be traitors. Around blacks, never relax.
>make the regiment that turns traitor on Cadia during the Fall a bunch of jabbering redcoats
What did GW mean by this. Did they forget theyre a bunch of jabbering redcoats?
