Think Raptors and Exorcists are in Astartes 2 so can see this as a tie-in for that
Just had a watch of the Astartes 2 trailer. Only chapters shown were
-Retributors
-Blood Angles
-Scythes of The Emperor
-Sons of Medusa
-Mortificators

If it was for Astartes 2 they'd just do Retributors.

The Raptors are a meme choice like the Space Sharks. The Space Sharks at least gave an excuse to toss some older armor mrks at us(mrk 5 shoulder and helmets), but the Raptors? Maybe we get some extra mrk 6 parts, maybe a really plain breastplate, but it'll probably be a bunch of pouches and tacticool lenses and grenade belts.
Exorcists are just weird. I can't think of what "unique" armor for them would even be. Maybe patterns that apply script writing all over the armor part you put it on? A pauldron with a fancy chapter badge on it? That's about it.

The TTS is retarded but it's nothing new. It doesn't compete with their copyright in any meaningful way. The Hutber takedown makes even less sense since it only uses assets that are either custom, or publicly released for free by GW themselves.

If GW is unwilling to release their own digitized version of the game, then there will always be someone else who will. It's a pain in the ass but nobody ever accused GW of being intelligent.

There are other tables that were left untouched, even the mapmaker which also contains scans of GW product. At this point they obviously know that these mods exist. They should just hire these guys like they did with Astartes so they can manage the table and models as paid DLC on TTS.

Thought it was Raptors against the Tau stealth suits though has been awhile since I watched it

Not like they were actually going to stop. The problem with taking it down is they don't actually host or distribute any models. TTS URLs to link a blank model with a mesh and texture. The actual models are hosted elsewhere. All they need to do is take a save file that can be dropped into your folder and TTS will do the rest. It's actually effortless. If GW really cares about stopping people from playing online they would have to take down every mirror they use.

Why do I feel theres more to this story, than just "GW goin aftah da poor innocent modders"

Tabletop sim let people play 40k (AOS/KT/etc) for free online. Not only that, a LOOOT of the tourneyfags used it to theorycraft and practice for tourneys without having to set up actual games or buy actual armies until they had perfected their meta. Or so the story goes.

As people have pointed out, the real question is, why now? This shit has existed for years. There's a theory approaching rumor territory due to people speaking up claiming to have some advanced knowledge that GW might be preparing their own version of Tabletop Sim, or buying the Tabletop Sim devs.

Imagine if GW makes an official simulator version of Kill Team or 11th Edition 40k, complete with all the microtransactions the D&D boss wants to try and push on D&D players with their official tabletop simulator. Pay $5 to paint the $20 digital file you bought for your Intercessors in Salamanders colors and all that.

I've build every chassis of imperial knights and now I feel empty.
Time to do the Chaos Knights.

And then your own force of not-quite-renegade knight kitbashes.

And some Admech allies for your knights.

No, they are well within their rights to enforce trademarks and copyrights. The smart modders would simply recreate the mechanics, which can only be protected by patents. If you look at the mod they are ripping assets, names and images from GW works.

GW has no ability to crack down on Waraxe 50k with Space Marines that happens to use exactly the same mechanics

It's one of the reasons why one chucklefuck who pretty much plagiarized the Warhammer Fantasy TTRPG didn't get his dick sued off, he just changed skills and some lore shit.

Painted 23 out of 58 ork models within the span of 3 hours thank God for speed paints.
