I don't know if they changed the formula, but when I bought it years and years ago I really wasn't impressed with the dip method. Brushing nuln oil all over without thinking looks better and dries faster.
They updated the formula for the dips when they updated to Warpaints Fanatic, so it may be different now.

These are the old washes compared to the new, i couldn't find anyone comparing the dip.

It's less about the color and more about how it pooled. It was more viscous than standard shade paints.

The audiobook for the Ferrus novel even weirdly made that EC marine sound like Alec Guinness.

The best part of the book was that EC pilots are just Top Gun pilots and you can tell their inner soundtrack isn’t gothic hymns. The whole book is thr EC running circles around the IH until Ferrus stops denying his killer instinct and nukes the planet.

Ah, yeah, from my understanding, you're supposed to mix it really well with a paint stick and then really shake off the excess. I'll buy some and do a test of it sometime this weekend and post the results.

That's what you get for expecting the primarch novels to be about the primarchs. At least half of 'em, they just show up at the end, or maybe someone bumps into them at some point in the middle of it. It's not even just GW being shitty about Ferrus Manus and IH.
I mean I barely read it. I speed read a lot of it (and stole it online) because a different friend complained about it. It literally was Ferrus being retarded, an EC marine schooling him, and then the marine dying. I was expecting at least an Iron Hands marine to be the protagonist of the Iron Hands Primarch novel.

My autism here is that I thought his dumb name had at least a “oh that’s kinda neat” explanation. Like it’s a literal moniker that was translated to being retarded. Like how supposedly the Space Wolves shit has some gay Fenris name for it, but none of that translate in universe so it just sounds like gay furry shit.

I'm new to the model scene/tabletop itself yes
Neat!

Well, to explain, "Post Models" is a popular 4chan meme. It's someone questioning your dedication to the hobby in a semi-joking way. Warhammer has a lot of secondaries -- people who just like the lore, novels, or video games instead of the tabletop games -- or Tourists -- people who like the idea of liking Warhammer and not Warhammer itself. These types tend to not have figurines to show when asked.

Another common one is "Thin your Paints." GW used to have a guy named Duncan who did their Warhammer Youtube, and his instructions were always to thin your paints, using two (or more) thin coats instead of one thick coat. Ergo, meme. Thin your paints. Doesn't matter if you did already. Thin them.

I have literally seem replies to Golden Daemon (big international miniature painting award) winners with "THIN YOUR PAINTS." And Duncan, after leaving GW before they could screw him over, named his paint lineup "Two Thin Coats."

Sure, the explanation is that he has metal hands(they aren't even iron), and GW butchers Latin for "high gothic". Just the same as Corvus Corax amounts to Crow Crow or Raven Raven. When GW wasn't even trying to be that creative, they named the angry guy Angron. Perturabo was at least constantly perturbed by seeing the eye of terror at all times. Kurze was cursed with shitty foresight only ever showing him bad shit.

Sometimes shit in 40k really is just that stupid.

I used some Army Painter dip to knock out some Krieg over the weekend. It takes forever to cure, the finish is incredibly glossy (needs a matte varnish over the top) and softens the model's details, but for the time invested it looks pretty good.

Speaking of Nuln Oil, is it a valid strategy to just dip your finished models in that shit?
Nuln Oil is a bit of a meme but you can basically wash everything with it.

I dont, i try and match the colourm red wash for red, purple wash for purple. You can get super scientific about it by crossing purple wash on reds but i cbf.

Nuln Oil is just easy. Helps that its a good wash too.

No. Just apply it with a brush. Although you can be quite generous with it. Depending on the look you want to create, you might need to spend more time with cleaning it up again afterwards. Or you go retard Grimdark and leave all the excess on.

Dunno about Nuln Oil, but Army Painter sells tins of shit that you're literally supposed to dip the entire model in:
The dipping method is quite stupid. However, if used like normal washes they are a valid alternative, because you can easily clean up any mistakes with spirits instead of painting over it with acrylics again.

Sonic Sledghammer has a good video about it:

Pour one out for one of the true greats of the hobby.

What a great picture of him. Somehow it looks to me like it was taken in the late 90s, which is, of course, impossible regarding John's age.
first Wayne England in 2016
England was one of my most favorite Warhammer artists, his style is as distinct as John's, outlier talent no doubt. Phenomenal character designs in his artwork. Only found out about him passing a couple of years ago when i was looking him up for some non-40k work he did. Died young, too. Even for the hobby sector, where there are tons of great artist working under different brands and for different games, GW had some real powerhouses working for them way back when.

Whats always funny about that one is that when you post your minis, the nigger who sperged out at you can no longer invalidate your opinion, so they usually never reply to you.
That was my issue with the whole thing, I understand that the "Post minis fag" thing is a meme for the hobby, but it doesn't change the fact that the dude used it as a way to just ignore the argument

It's a demand to show proof that you even participate in the hobby, they got what they wanted, why would they press further.

I understand that, like I said earlier, I tend to get way more invested into arguments than I should, so when someone makes a point and the other person just goes "Post pics or you aren't a real fan" and then dips out of the argument its a bit irritating because in my mind they're just being a coward and can't defend their claims. It's why I stopped interacting in US Political General 2

Anyway

Wargames Atlantic just released their Damned Army, it costs $89 for like 52 minis which is an insanely good deal for Chaos guardsman proxy's

I thought Konrad was a Heart of Darkness reference. It’s the last name of the author with Colonel Kurtz’s name turned into Kurze so you get Konrad Kurze.

It's worse than that now. Modelposters in /40kg/ just get stalked if they ever post their models elsewhere, or if you're an insufferable faggot like that one Space Wolves collector in the thread you spawn copycats.

Maybe. Could also be that they decided to add his shitty foresight later because of the name could also be they came up with later on because of how stupid the original idea was and it wasn't so absurd they had some plausible deniability. Half the time he's written like an edgy 13 year old who refuses to brush his teeth "I'm not Conrad, I'm the nighthaunter now" after someone just uses his normal name, the other half of the time he's written like The Joker. The entire dark angels bit is Lionel Johnson and his poem The Dark Angel, and their big secret is being in the closet.

Meanwhile they later decided that Angron was totally supposed to be the guy with the power of empathy but it's purely the butcher's nails that fucked it up. Yeah sure ok.

I'm convinced decalfag is an intentional shitposter inspired by the Iron Warrior autist of yore. The false flaggers just exacerbate the problem.
