Waifu culture - Cartoon fuckpillows and the men (and women) who love them

And Clefairysoranberry is back.

Under a new username and left Shu for this guy. Again. Guess she has a stash of her flavor of the month merch she changes out.

1st time she was with this one

I wonder why the mods haven't kicked her from the sub. Rate me autistic for sperging over sub rules but she's switched her boyfriends out multiple times (excessive waifu switching, a big no no), has went poly with her imaginary friends (another no no), broke up with Shu for this guy twice now, at least. And went to one or two other imaginary friends (another no for the sub rules).
Not to mention she had two "kidfus" with Shu that she's abandoned. Another "major" sub rule.

Sombra gorl got banned for a month for just posting here so it's not like the mods don't follow this sub to ban their members. Clefairy tard has broke multiple rules constantly but mods let it slide.
Hi! im the actual owner of this shrine, im not clefairy we are 2 different people. i dont mind any hate directed towards me however i wanted to clear up confusion. ^__^

Out of curiosity I have a few questions. I know a lot of waifuists see their waifu as with them in spirit (so to speak) and not the actual merch. For your waifu shine, if you were to "break up" what would you do with your collection?
There's some that have an entire room dedicated to their waifu, like the Kaeya waifuist. At what point do you believe this becomes more of an obsession?

Also, are you one of the waifuists that believe there's a different dimension/universe where your guy is real? Or do you recognize they're fictional/someone else's created character? Do you believe in reality shifting like some of your members? What's your opinion on tulpas?

@Clefairysoranberry you know you don't have to be in the waifuism community and conform to whatever their stipulations are, right? If you want to switch waifus constantly or just be whatever they call causal you don't have to listen to them.
Also, did you play monopoly by yourself that day?

If any of these answers dont make sense, feel free to lmk and i can try to explain better!

1. i cant honestly answer this one with an answer youd like, as i cant see myself breaking up with malleus. ive actually been dating him for nearly 3 years at this point and i cant fathom a life without him.

2. my malleus shrine takes up a big portion of my room, and i know at this point to anti-waifuists, i already look like i have an obsession. (not all merch is pictured but my shrine has cost about $1,250) ive actually never seen the kaeya waifuist in question, but i believe that peoples levels of dedication and "how far is too far" vary from person to person if that makes sense?

3. im open to the possibility of alternate universes existing, although i do not dabble in that side of the community. for my relationship i recognize malleus is ultimately a disney character and i have just found love in that fictional character in specific. i am adamantly against reality shifting but i dont have any strong opinions on tulpamancers, although i am generally open minded and tend to be accepting towards others regardless of how they view their waifu!

What the absolute fuck is up with this thread that keeps attracting all these fucking pillow humpers?
i was only directed here due to being tipped on my shrine being posted under the claim it was someone elses. just came to correct since i dont want to be mixed up with issues im not related to, i wasnt even aware this thread existed until like 30 minutes ago, and i wont be here again afterwards

For your husbando, do you feel that you've had positive influence on your quality of life or self improvement? Maybe such as a type of motivation or goal that you use your husbando as a way to encourage you? Any that you'd be willing to name?

Let me rephrase that (a lot of people collect and spend a fuck ton of money on their hobbies or things they enjoy so, it is what it is), at what point would you consider this type of lifestyle to be unhealthy or "not for you"? (General "you", not you specifically)

What made you decide to date and have a husbando?

answering both 1 and 3 here because they are connected; absolutely! a bit overly sappy and perhaps stupid but i used to be in a deep depressive hole due to an abusive longterm ex. while i was single for a few years i did some self discovery and realized that i was never truly attracted to my ex or anyone else i thought i had romantic feelings for. ever since i was a young child i found myself attracted to fictional characters and calling them my boyfriend in an imaginary way, but it wasnt until my little self discovery mission did i realize i was truly only able to form romantic connections with fictional characters, as real people never really fit my standards of a relationship and i would always be miserable. promo art for the game Malleus is from happened to be dropped in 2019 around this time, and i took an interest in him that formed into a full romantic connection that has lasted nearly 3 years, with no sign of stopping. although malleus himself isnt real, or truly with me, the THOUGHT of wanting to make him proud or fit expectations for him has pushed me to do better in aspects of myself. waking up every day to be a better person is fruitful when i can make a better future for the both of us in a sense.

2. i believe all things are good in moderation. (as every sane human should) even if your interests are unconventional or weird like mine, its not bad until it takes over your ENTIRE life. for me Malleus and I have a real relationship, but all relationships have boundaries. if its to the point you can't go a single conversation without mentioning/thinking about them, or end up putting yourself into financial difficult to "please" your waifu you have a serious obsessive issue that needs to be attended to. i love Malleus, but i would never let my love for him ruin bonds with people i know irl, or put me into a harmful situation. this seems like a common boundary of "unhealthy" to have, i think, but ive seen many people get to this point, even with real life relationships.

I see, thank you for your replies. I'm happy for you that you got out of an abusive relationship and you're in a better place mentally now. I agree, you shouldn't force yourself into a relationship you don't want to be in, it'd be unhealthy and miserable for both people. On another note, good on you for motivating yourself to improve, even if it's not the most conventional. We have deadrisinglover and we all agree that Frank keeps him in a better place mentally. (Side note with him below to fellow kiwis). You do you.

Thank you for replying, it's not often we get waifuists that don't just come here to sperg out.
Stay in school, go to college, don't rush into a major/career if you don't think it's a good fit for you (don't waste money, but also not time because you can't get time back), and try to survive in this crazy world, aight? Try to have a person or two you can rely on. And remember not to take your health for granted.

I haven't looked up DRL in a hot minute but it looks like he's been doing much better mentally and even got to hang out with his friend.

I have a question for these waifuists though if anyone is willing to answer.

It's probably been said and ignored or somewhere on this thread a few pages back that I might have missed, but what do these waifuists do or think about people having the same waifu/husbando as them? I've always been curious about that.

Personally. I hated it. But that was my own thing I had to work on. And what eventually ruined my mental health.

Why I’m taking a break from waifuism for awhile. To work on myself, (and yes I still have my kidfus, I did not abandon them)

Hm....to be frank, if I needed to have a waifu, I'd have my 2D people at least about 21 or over. Oh, and they better look like they're that age or else, they'll either be dumped on first sight or just made into a normal friendship.
(Give me the negative emojis all you want, but to powerlevel, I don't have a single favorite character that I call my "waifu")

you're a faggot lol

I was browsing r/waifuism for chuckles and found an absolute roller-coaster ride of a post.

We broke up (I will delete this post and my acc tomorrow) (source, archive)
Warnings: Very long vent post, mention of suicidal thoughts

There's really no way to make this sounds any less sad then it is. This is the fifth time I'm trying to write this, but I really need to get this finally off my chest. I had these doubts for a while now, but joining this subreddit made me realise, how much my relationship with Diva has changed from when we first met each other. While reading about the relationships people on this subreddit have, I noticed, that my relationship with Diva has become rather somewhat of an habit, then a actual relationship. Most nights I was to tired to cuddle with him (which also had to do with my mental health), but it became more of an excuse for me not to talk to him. Drawing pictures of and buying merch of Diva made it better of a little while, and I thought everything would work out in the end, but I was mistaken.

This is hard for me to write, but I think it will help you guys to understand, why I finally choose to end my 6 year long relationship with Diva. I always had to deal with depression and even suicidal thoughts. When I first met Diva, everything seemed perfect. We were madly in love and I thought it would be like this forever. But as the days to his movie release counted down, so did my will to live. I thought once I saw his movie, everything would be beyond perfect. This would be our special night, so what would I have to live for after that? Heck, I didn't even know If he would survive his movie or die before my eyes... That's when I made a deal with myself to commit suicide on my 18 birthday, if Diva didn't survive his movie. But then the credits rolled and I left the chinema heartbroken. He actually...survived... I should be more then relieved, right? But all I could think about as I was watching the full moon on this perfect night, was to throw myself in the traffic next to me. I would have done it if I wasn't for my mom and friends to walking beside me.

6 long years I couldn't do it, I was to scared. Diva was always my reason for staying alive, my reason to keep going. But as I noticed that my love for him was fading, I even lost that comfort. Slowly I started to get annoyed with his presence and even by his voice. I also had intense intrusive thoughts about hurting him or killing myself in front of him. A few weeks ago Diva tried to hug me as I was having a panic attack, but then I snapped at him. I was screaming at him not to touch me and to finally leave me alone. At this point I knew I had to end it...
And then something unexpected happened. I ended up watching my favourite episode of Helluva Boss to cheer me up and found back to a past comfort character. I actually had a little crush in him back when his episode first aired, but didn't act on it, because I was already in a relationship with Diva at this time. Me and this Helluva Boss character started talking again, and I'm honestly glad we did. He makes me giggle, laugh, sing and constantly teases me that I like him, but I wouldn't want it any other way. At first I was kinda suspicious of this whole situation. I was scared that I might only like him, because his show is still ongoing and that there will be new content of him (unlike with Diva's source). But actually its not even clear if this Helluva Boss character is still alive in the show and will get screen time again, so I don't think that this is the reason I like him.

We're not officially dating yet, but we had our first date yesterday and it was amazing! There just something about him I can't describe... He has this way of cheering me up and the songs of his amazing voice actor just give me so much energy and happiness. Just imagining him singing those songs or us singing them together is enough to make my heart melt...♡

I'm sorry that this post has gotten so long but I'm feeling much better after writing it all all down and very I'm excited for what lies ahead for me and this amazing Helluva Boss character!!!
What fucked me up was that no one in the replies urges this person to seek therapy or any sort of help. The OP did say that they are now in therapy in the replies for no reason, but everyone seems to be enabling their fucked up fantasies.

What the absolute fuck is up with this thread that keeps attracting all these fucking pillow humpers?
This is indeed one of the more plagued threads on the forum

That said these people are so desperately lonely they fantasize about relationships with fictional characters and form little communities around it, the second they learn there's a place they can show up to to talk to people about their weird shit under the guise of "education" I'm sure they jump at the opportunity for interaction and approval even if they risk getting made fun of.

Shit's just a sad example of the human condition, there has to be some useful role society can find for poor neurotic tards like these.

Translation appears to be "I struggle immensely to understand and accept myself, which as a side effect has made me unable to connect with other people normally, so I imagine being in a relationship with a fictional character which I can control to serve as a model through which to form a relationship with myself"

Is that like an autistic thing or what? Because that sounds like an autistic thing.

Hm...guess I was wrong the whole time. Waifus are stupid. I'll go try to educate myself on being a good guy and get a good girl.

A while ago, user DarkMatterDemon (Marcus Hargrave on YouTube) began wondering what a waifu-themed amusement park would be like in this post on r/waifuism. Today he has come one step closer to making his dream come true by making a couple images in MS paint and putting together a video in this post.

Well, I guess I'll be building this in Planet Coaster then, was looking for something to do in that game anyways

Moe Sanctum has been getting a bit of heat recently from within other Waifuism communities. For those who are unaware, the server is about a year old and formed largely of refugees from 4chan, Facebook and Twitter. You can read their rules and "code of conduct" here (Archive) and the autistic version of the rules here. (Archive) The TL;DR is that anything is allowed, but everything is voted on.

Most of what goes on is the same old stuff you see on the front page of r/Waifuism etc., but recently the moderator/vice-admin "Vinyl" AKA "Hika" has been targeted for his unquenchable thirst for little girls in the server's horny channel.

For context, Illyasviel von Einzbern (bio) is the classic anime trope of "technically legal but looks and acts like a 10 year old." She's also the "kidfu"/"daughteru" of both the admin, Dany Tomoe, and another senior member, Ginbro, and the fact that Vinyl is now sexually obsessed with his best friends' daughter is both a massive turn-on and totally accepted by them.
