Copyright is for ideas. If your right to make new copies of a work.
Trademark is for names and logos. It's ownership over a mark proving its you who's involved in the trade.

Basically, if Garriott gets the copyright for Ultima but not the trademark and EA refuses to work with him on that, then he'd be able to make new sequels that use the setting, characters, and ideas from the Ultima games, but wouldn't be allowed to call it Ultima on the box and title screen.
It's like how Natsume - former Western publisher for Harvest Moon - kept the trademark for the Harvest Moon name after the series' creator Marvelous stopped working with them. Marvelous owns the full copyright over all the old games, but they couldn't call new ones Harvest Moon anymore, so the series had to be renamed to Story of Seasons outside Japan.
It would be kinda funny if he called it "Ultimatum" which was originally going to be Ultima I's title but it was taken by a tabletop game.

Playing SMT Nocturne and only realised 10 hours in that I'm playing the OG campaign and not the Maniax version since Matador's boss fight didn't trigger in Ginza Underground. Guess I'll still finish and treat the Maniax version as NG+ to get the True Demon ending. Now on my way to the Nihilo dungeon after beating Thor. Level 27 now.

John Carmack was right all along
I realized this a few years ago as well. John was a fucking prophet. All i really play anymore are ps2 games that have about 5 minutes of story before they let you loose. I've been playing the warriors series almost religiously for a few month's. I'm currently playing Warriors Orochi, it is very fun, can bust your balls difficulty wise as well. Urban Reign is a personal favorite of mine for a GAME, not a shitty movie masquerading as one. the story is almost nonexistent just an excuse to get you from mission 1 to mission 2 the gameplay is spectacular, very much recommend it if you enjoy old tekken games/ 3d beat em ups.

That was the first game by the guy who made gmod customizable weaponry mod which almost every server in existence uses and also the same guy currently makes intravenous. He's working on the third game now.
Oh, I know who you're talking about. Wrong game, at least not the game I'm talking about. I was referring to Game Dev Tycoon, you're talking about Game Dev Studio. Does that game also have a piracy mode?

Just beat Phantasy Star for the Genesis with the retranslation. I wish I had taken notes of everything NPCs said, because after getting all the laconian armor and weapons, I was completely lost. The early first person dungeon crawling was cool to see and, despite the graphical limitations, it was pretty neat.
If I didn't have paper to map out a few of those later dungeons, I might've quit altogether.
Dark Falz was a crapshoot of a fight, but the penultimate boss is the real kicker. If you fight LaShiec, you can softlock your game. There are three ways to get off his floating island: Use a TranCarpet, feed Myau the Laerma nut key item, or have Myau or Alisa cast the spell equivalent of TranCarpet.
You can't restore MP outside of a clinic, and this follows a multi dungeon gauntlet and an aggressively strong boss fight, so if you don't have the item, Myau is dead, and Alisa has less than 7 MP (she has a low mp pool to begin with), congrats on your softlock lmao.
Aggravating at the time, but mildly amusing in retrospect.
6.75/10 pretty good for a first go, just play with doubled exp/meseta, and maybe halved encounters once you get halfway through the game. Get a notepad and make your maps for the dungeons, it's fun and absolutely necessary.

Who's ready for Akalabeth: World of Doom 2 !!!

Seriously though, I hope he gets the copyright back, and can make something good with it. Ultima is a legendary franchise that I would sincerely say is influential on the same level as Doom is, and it shouldn't be left to rot. I yearn for a true successor to Ultima VII and I'll be optimistic about this until the new game comes out and is bad lol.

The Steamcube costs $1500 and according to Digital Foundry gets about 35-40 fps average on new games.

I like Gaben but this seems like a massive flop in the making.
1050 for the base (512gb) model, 1500 for the 2tb + steam controller. At that price I'm almost surprised they didn't cancel it. Probably planned to make it 750 but the computer industry went to shit.

Weaker than a PS5 pro but more expensive.

God only knows what convinced them it was a good idea.

The big news that isn't being covered much is the OS update that was pushed alongside it supports generic hardware. I.e., DIY or 3rd party Steamcubes are now possible. So while this is probably a flop -- and I wouldn't say it's a flop, just that it represents the new price of low-mid hardware thanks to the AI Techbros and the RAM Cartel fucking everyone over -- it's going to spring forth a new generation of 3rd party generic gaming devices that run Steam.

We all have computers already anyway.
I have to assume they're aiming for the market of people with brazilian toasters who don't play digital foundry type games anyway and would like to upgrade to playing slightly less toasterish things using something cube-shaped.

Or console-havers. I never saw the point of it in the first place but maybe there are a lot of zoomers who are frightened of things like purchasing computer components normally?

Well, there is genuine demand for a console that isn't anti consumer trash like the big three are shitting out, but that's at what is seen as "normal" console prices. Over a grand for a mediocre PC really isn't what the masses yearned for, but maybe what they want isn't coming back.

I personally think consoles are over. They have abandoned almost every reason they had for existing, and Nintendo, the only one with a console unique gimmick, clearly holds its customers in open contempt.
