The movie was okay. Venom himself was pretty fun and looked absolutely amazing. Especially during during the final fight where he and Riot were trying to absorb each other. That looked pretty amazing.

Other than that though, the way symbiotes seemed to work didn't seem very consistent, at least not with Venom and Riot. So... symbiotes can only handle hosts who match them, but apparently Venom and Riot can merge with whoever they want and not get rejected? Huh?

Also, I'm kinda sad that now we're never going to see a Spiderman movie with this version of Venom. God that would have been so much fun to watch.

Why can't it happen? I don't see why that's impossible? As to why maybe it's because some symbiots just a way higher percentage of compatibility with different human? Like Riot is team leader so that could explain why he is able to have a high compatibility rate while Venom was more unexpected?

I saw it earlier today. It wasn't good, but it wasn't terrible. I actually liked Tom Hardy in it, and the interactions between Venom and Eddie. The plot was crap, though. Worse than any MCU film, better than any DCEU film except for Wonder Woman.

Venom has always been one of my favorite Marvel characters. In retrospect, I kind of hate the Rami trilogy as a whole because of how shitty they did him. I won't see this in theaters, but I will probably redbox it.

The impression I got was that symbiotes can sort of ride on anyone or anything for a short time, but they can only form a long-term bond (achieve homeostasis, I guess?) with certain hosts. Sort of like how blood types need to match for transfusions. On the other hand, they didn't really touch on the whole bonding part of symbiosis, and if I hadn't been a Venom geek going into it I think I would've been a lot more lost.

It was awful; awfully funny. I have not laughed at a movie this intense in long time. I lost it at the "eating scene".

People have told me that the film is unintentionally hilarious in many parts.

The words, "unintentionally hilarious," are like catnip to me. I still won't see this in theaters, but I am definitely redboxing it at some point.

I had no idea that even this fucking movie got politicized. The movie just looks bad to me. And I hate Sony. Are SJWs mad just because they think a "mediocre/bad movie starring a white man is guaranteed to make money because America is racist and sexist" or something? lol.

Finally saw this movie on Redbox.

I'm sorry ... But this wasn't the "so bad it's hilarious" movie that so many people had hyped up to me.

The movie is just straight-up dogshit. Hated every mind-numbing second of it. The dialogue is some of the worst ever, the action scenes were cheap as fuck, the story was bland and convoluted, the acting was terrible, the characters were awful ... I could go on. The most insulting part was some of the forced "self-aware humor." The movie kept thinking it was being cute, but I was just seething on my couch the entire time. This "movie" was loathsome.

It was a massive waste of time for me, really. I feel like I need to watch Spider-Man 3 of all movies as a palette cleanser. The only part I enjoyed was the post-credits scene where they showed an extended preview of Into the Spider-Verse (a wonderful film-- a wonderful film that I'm even MORE shocked that Sony was able to make).

If you liked Venom, you should feel bad. What the fuck, people? This was terrible!

If you think I'm being too harsh, here's a "song" that was made for the movie. I dare you to defend this:

Última edición:
I want to (or don't want to-- whatever, fuck it) understand where the hardcore Venom fans are coming from when they say that they love this movie:

What made THIS version of Venom so much better than the one in Spider-Man 3? Literally the only thing they got right from the comics in this film is the use of pronouns ("We are Venom") ... And even then, some of the pronoun usage was inconsistent.

-What do we find out about Venom in Spider-Man 3? He's a disgraced, smarmy reporter who loses his love interest and bonds with an alien symbiote to become Venom.

-What do we find out about Venom in his self-titled movie? He's a disgraced, smarmy reporter who loses his love interest and bonds with an alien symbiote to become Venom.

Literally, we get the same, exact amount of characterization in the handful of minutes he was in Spider-Man 3 as in this new, almost 2-hour long movie. How can one movie fuck up SO badly?!

Spider-Man 3's portrayal of Venom is infinitely superior, by the way. Why? Because Spider-Man plays a part in Venom's origin in that movie (as he should!). There's a legit explanation as to why the symbiote bonded with Eddie Brock in that movie-- The symbiote wanted to permanently bond with Peter Parker, and the symbiote became vengeful when Peter separated from it. Then, symbiote found someone else (who is also vengeful of Peter Parker) to bond with. It's weird to say this when talking about fucking SPIDER-MAN 3 of all movies, but that's just storytelling 101 right there ... Venom failed so much harder than Spider-Man 3 did. Fight me, Venom fanboys.

In this movie, the explanation as to why the symbiote bonds with Eddie is because "it's a loser on the planet it came from," so it bonded with someone who is also a "loser." FUCKING WHAT? If the symbiote wanted to bond with a "loser," then why did it reject and kill so many homeless people before bonding with Eddie?! This explanation is nonsensical!

I was honestly nerd raging within the first five minutes of the movie. The introduction to the symbiote in this movie is almost identical to how it was introduced in Spider-Man 3. Same shit, different variables. Dumbass fanboys will probably say that the way the Venom movie did it was better because "hurr durr, they mentioned John Jameson's name, 'cuz comics!" Yeah? And then they killed Jameson immediately after they said his name. What was the fucking point of even name dropping that character if that's all they were going to do with him? Oh yeah, right: Sony thinks that name dropping will be enough to appease the fanboys.

I am legitimately pissed off that this movie made so much money. I don't want bad movies like this to make money. It's telling Sony that THIS low quality shit is okay!

Into the Spider-Verse is truly a miracle of a film. After seeing Venom, I now honestly believe that film being so magnificent was a total accident on Sony's part. lol.

I want to rate this "autistic" really badly but you're so damn passionate that I can't.

Finally saw it. It was a solid 3/10 except for the bit with She-Venom, which made it my film of the year.

The movie was pretty bad but I had a lot of fun. If the next film is this dumb I'm in for the long haul.

Finally saw this with my son and we had a blast. He loved it for the same reason little kids used to love Superman - power fantasies are appealing when you're not old enough to choose your own bed time. The violence and biting heads off is bloodless and PG friendly enough to be hilarious for kids without being scary.

Tom Hardy has a kind of effortless charisma that carries the movie. I thought the CGI was PlayStation 3 quality in places, but that's a problem in a lot of these films. The supporting cast was forgettable - Riz Ahmed has the menace of a passive-aggressive accountant (they should've gotten a dork who can actually act, Michael Cera or Jason Schwartzmann maybe), he was meant to be some kind of evil Elon Musk but just seemed like a low-key dick. Hardy's girlfriend looked like an off-brand Gwyneth Paltrow, dunno why they didn't hire a more attractive actress when her role was "eye candy". Riz Ahmed's main henchman - the secondary antagonist - was literally just some bald dude.

But it works because of Hardy and the fun concept. I didn't realize until I Googled it that he also did the voice work for Venom, which was just as memorable as his portrayal of Bane. Venom gets some great lines, and it turns into a kind of unexpected comedy bromance between Eddie Brock and a shapeshifting alien parasite that enjoys eating people.

A++, will probably be forced to watch 112 more times.
