I don't know about Varg himself, but his wife Marie is actually diagnosed iirc. I think he even had a blogpost where he claimed that most great men of history were autistic.

I believe his wife has been diagnosed with high-functioning autism and he hasn't looked for an official diagnosis. But to me at least it's extremely clear that they are both autistic, and it's not of the high-functioning variety. Either way, very entertaining to watch, he's definitely lolcow material.

It's surprising that Varg would accept an autism diagnosis given his skepticism of all things modern and the fact that the quacks dish out tism diagnoses like benzos.

Idk man. They raised what? 8 children? Own a property which they care for and cultivate crops on, they raise animals (chicken, goats, even a horse), Varg could get laid when he was a teenager...
They seem pretty functional to me. But yeah, the pagan (and other) sperging is pretty autistic.

Varg frequently claims that his pagan beliefs were passed down to him through oral tradition by his family, because even in antiquity Scandinavians never really bought into Christianity and have passed down their pagan beliefs in secret (and they were totally not made up by Varg himself), and furthermore he claims that this is how almost all Scandinavians are secretly raised. He even claims that the only reason his birthname is Kristian is because he was named after a king and NOT because his family was ever Christian, because his family has always been staunchly anti-Christian PAGANS.
He also claims to be related to one of the founders of the Christian church of Norway.
He's such a pathological liar it's hilarious.

Varg Vikerness is such a mixed bag; he lives a very "trad" lifestyle, but yet he hates Christianity for, in my opinion, nonsensical reasons. He will say intelligent-sounding stuff and then unironically deny Brazil exists. From what I've seen, Varg Vikerness is a very funny guy, but I don't understand how somebody who seems like a decently intelligent person can be an unironic pagan.

No, hating Christianity (and only Christianity) is safe-edgy. That's the corporate approved religion to hate. His takes on the heebs and the dune coons are great, but those don't usually get the airtime his whole "burning down churches" stuff does. Most of he and his contemporaries in the Black Metal scene circa, let's say 92', where almost solely railing against the Church, and not the Mosque or the Temple.

High functioning means someone who has low support needs. An autist in between low and high functioning would not be able to live the life Varg and his wife lives without help.

According to the records from his court case he was evaluated by a psychiatrist and found to have average intelligence but severally stunted "almost childlike" maturity. This was also in like '91 though. They probably weren't looking for autism back then.

Yes and that childlike maturity would probably give him an autistic diagnosis today. He still speaks in that same child-like way if you watch his tiktoks. His oldest (I think) son speaks just like him, probably because they don't speak to anyone else. It's very eerie, and these kids are getting a rough start to their life in my opinion. If they decide to do something else with their life other than work at the family farm, they will really struggle.

He's really not that significant and doesn't do too much these days except shitpost and work on a farm. He has a cult-following (no pun intended) of like 1000 neopagans on twitter who largely don't even believe in his personal brand of paganism but follow him out of obligation since he enthusiastically hates Christianity (which is really the only consistent core tenant of neopaganism).
