I recall it being nice despite only being the first few chapters of the story, but all the spinning, while thematically appropriate, didn't mesh well with drunk for meI liked the live action one.

I don't think it's actually possible to fully capture Ito's style in an animated format, so much of what he does artistically really only works as a page turner so to speak.I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I really want this to be good. But the thing is, I think it's kind of impossible to make any animation series that is going to be as good and creepy as the manga. I think the medium itself is part of what makes the stories so creepy. Somehow, the animation ruins whatever magic the still images in magna create. Like the moving eyes scene in this latest trailer. It was creepy in the manga, but kind of silly looking animated.
Oh well, it still looks pretty cool so far.
For a supposed Ito project that’s supposed to be unsettling and scary, this gif looks far more wholesome than it needed to be. Either way, I hope this is good.
Tbf in context she's trying to replicate something she was told happened, which is why Kirie looks silly. For a supposed Ito project that’s supposed to be unsettling and scary, this gif looks far more wholesome than it needed to be. Either way, I hope this is good.
Yeah considering that Itoh himself can have some issues with dancing the line of creepy and goofy it's going to be tough to do his thing better than himAnimation is buttery smooth but yeah the eyeball spinning was more goofy than anything. I expect it'll be hit-and-miss.
Sorta reminds me of those animated Doctor Who resorted bits. Still, could've been a lot worseAnimation looks really good. I'm very happy to see actual frame by frame movement and not just lip flapping. The only thing I don't like is some of the shading on the character's faces. The shots that replicate Ito's linework look great, but some other shots have this ugly grey shading with lines added that looks terrible. It almost reminds me of Berserk 2016, it's as if they added grey shading behind the linework to give it more contrast. It's disappointing because every shot of the Kirie looks great, but other shots look like this.

This doesn't look right to me. The way the lines end at the harsh grey edges doesn't feel like a real ink drawing, it feels like a computer approximating one. I think they probably did this during complicated shots with a lot of movement to save time.
If this end up being the one thing where people will go back and actually turn on their TV screens for [adult swim], then this will be sad and amusing at the same time.An "official" trailer posted by AS some days back. Probably the final teaser before release.

Jesus Christ we just aren't allowed to have any good Junji Ito adaptations, can we.with the jack in the box or twisted souls being shortened or cut.
