There's no such thing as a skill shortage problem. What do you think happens if US companies stop importing jeets to write software and run gas stations? Will our computers stop working? Will our gas stations collapse? Will we starve? Without paying illegal labor under the table and violating tax law, will we stop having houses and roads?

If your business model can't survive without paying the going rate of your countrymen for their labor, then your business model is stupid and you should find a better one, not turn to India or Haiti to bring in stinky savages who like being poor.
There is not a single staple of our lives that requires these people. If every single Indian, African (including all the ones outside Africa), Arab, and Latin American the planet was teleported to Dimension X today, we'd have a disruption in global supply chains for a while, but we'd be fine. These people do nothing special that we need to live or thrive.
