There is no consensus at this time on who should be the new House Speaker should McCarthy be removed. McCarthy also doesn't want any help from Democrats to save him apparently and they haven't asked for anything regarding such a move which is intriguing.

Any attempt to get rid of the current House Speaker would need somehow a large amount of Republican support which is unlikely. If the Democratic Party wanted to gamble and take a risk they could choose to give the dissident members of the Republican Party the simple majority they need but the chance of this happening is probably pretty low.

The cynical political theater outcome here is that the vote would be put forth, get little support and anticlimactically then just be a thing that occurred.

McCarthy is utterly fucked if he makes concessions to the Dems to get them to vote for him. He may as well just switch his party, commit seppuku on the House floor, or both at that point. Only a Bong-tier failure of a leader would beg the opposition to save him from his own party.

Hell, worse than a Bong-tier leader since even Theresa May didn't stoop that low as to try and coalition with Labour.

The key facet to Michel's law was that bureaucratizing tendencies in organizations helped to shape the hierarchical structures of large and comp[ex organizations (naturally given he was a follow of Weber). Looking at historical examples, the societies in history which dealt best with the tendency were those with explicitly anti-bureaucratizing institutions and laws, as in Ancient Athens which selected by lot and denied sustained positions of specialization, and Republican Rome, which while oligarchic, never further centralized power for centuries owing to its deliberately obstructive organization to deny any quick governmental resolution. By contrast, modern organizations are based upon complex bureaucratic organizations which promote the development of hierarchical power structures which entrench themselves in power. Moreover, people have come to believe obstruction as innately flawed, that the moment something reaches 51%, it should be instantly implemented and everything shifted around it, regardless of the 49% necessarily against it.

That's the purpose of modern society, to assume the monopoly on the use of force within it's geographic region, and deny it to anyone else. Social thought both left and right (Sorel and co.) commented extensively on the role of violence in societal development, and so modern society maintains it's hegemony by attempting to rob the people of any inkling of it outside the mechanism of the state.

She apparently voted on stuff up until the day before she died. This kind of thing is going to keep happening. Some fossil goes into steep decline, their aides keep up the appearance of minimal functionality, and they keep on voting or writing decisions.

It is a fraud on the American people that is just ignored all around because god forbid someone be removed and their spot be taken by someone who does not perfectly conform to a party's goals.

Their sole plan is to milk Republican cows as long as possible. They don't care who ends up being the next Republican Speaker. They don't think they can get a power-sharing deal or, Hakeem Jeffries SpeakerKO outtanowhere! They just know GOPe GOPeing and MAGA seething at each other is amusing, entertaining, and potentially profitable

Perhaps he needed them more then they needed him. Furthermore, he's not part of their party and they like power. The usefulness just ran out.

I doubt it at this point, clearly losing Mitch was just an utter death sentence to the Rinos. Mitt Romney not seeking relection right after Mitch's tumble should have been the sign. Like it or not Trump owns the RNC now.

Over the years, the Democrats have learned that when you backstab Republicans, they'll blame themselves for not kissing leftist ass passionately enough.
