It wouldn't surprise me, either, if most of that 250k figure comes from California with all the deep blue cities that allow non-citizens to vote in local elections only (supposedly). There's no telling how many non-residents are given ballots with Federal items on it. What people I know who aren't rabid partisans believe non-citizens shouldn't be voting, period.
I like how activists handwave the examples of non-citizens voting with the, "So, it's one (or a minuscule percentage) vote, big deal." The big deal is someone who shouldn't have voted did, whether because someone wasn't paying attention and doing their job or due to complicity. One vote here and there add up across the country. It's ironic that ID is needed for banking, medical procedures, or special Olive Garden cards, but it's racist and oppressive to require it to vote.

More generally speaking, it's scary how many apps want access to part of one's phone (photos, contacts, etc) it shouldn't have any legitimate need to access - yet people install them without a single concern.
I think Trump threw a curveball by not bitching about 2020 and instead focusing on the security of the midterms by identifying legitimate Chinese threats to upcoming elections. It's a big boost to getting the SAVE Act passed. If Republicans in Congress shit the bed, we're in trouble.

An ex military man I know has shared similar sentiments: Basic training has been watered down to the point of being disgraceful. It's a shame because I also remember when the military was a proud institution many of my peers wanted to be part of upon graduation so they could serve their country and learn skills or a trade they could use after their compulsory service time. Now, the military seems as pozzed and politicized as everything else.

We already have the Universal Service Fund which - if I recall correctly - is supposed to help the people in BFE and low income areas have affordable telecommunication services. Foreigners shouldn't be allowed to study in the United States in the first place.
I wouldn't be opposed to foreign students studying in the US, provided:
- US Colleges had to admit all qualified American students first. Only if there was space for the foreign student in their program of choice could they be admitted.
- Upon graduation or lack of progress towards a degree, they must return to their country within x number of days unless they pursue citizenship.
Avoid working at an international company where a system you're responsible for has to be used across the entire world.
When I was still in IT, my coworkers and I briefly had to work with someone who was a native of India. His accent was so thick, I had to close my eyes and focus hard on blocking out the din around me just to understand his heavily accented voice. Anyone seeing that probably thought I was trying to tune him out, but it was the only way for me to process what he was saying. Add in other nations and professions who have English as a secondary or even tertiary language and it's no surprise too much time is spent dealing with language barriers than dealing with the crucial tasks at hand.
