These people swallow huge swaths of profits while contributing almost nothing to the business. It's going to take a huge public shift in perspective on how we view employment and the family structure as well because the numbers are going to look fuckey for a while. Not necessarily bad, just very different. I'm hoping we can head this direction again, but it's going to be a fight.

Black Democratic lawmakers in Broward County appear to have played the race card and turned against Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (R) after the Florida Legislature voted to redraw all of the state’s congressional district lines.

Redistricting all but pushed out Rep. Wasserman Schultz, one of the staunchest and most effective lawmakers in the Democratic House Caucus, of the U.S. House of Representatives, making her current seat lean Republican.

Now, Broward Democrats are pressing Rep. Wasserman Schultz not to run in the newly redrawn 20th Congressional District, a district with a significant Black voting electorate.

“We don’t want it to be her legacy that she remains in Congress by disenfranchising the Black community,” said State Senator Rosalind Osgood, a potential congressional candidate in the new district.

Black Democrats, who have complained that Republicans have racially targeted minority districts in the past, are now using that very same race card against one of their own.

It appears as if Wasserman Schultz has nothing to prove to anyone because her record protecting and defending constituents from all walks of life, regardless of the color of their skin, is beyond reproach.

“We want to have someone with our lived experience representing us in Congress,” Osgood said on CBS News Miami. “We want little Black boys and little Black girls to see somebody that looks like them so that they can dream.”

In other words, because Wasserman Schultz is not Black, she wouldn’t be someone “little Black boys and little Black Girls” can look up to and feel inspired to “dream?”
