This part is usually the truth, individually most immigrants (at least those who aren't already criminals or actively hate America) are actually pretty well-behaved and can become pillars of the community. Now, I only have experience with Mexicans, but I bet the same thing applies to some other countries. The noble Mexican housekeeper and hardworking Mexican builder stereotypes exist for a reason.
