With shorter terms and higher interest rates, sellers are forced to lower their prices because there aren’t that many people who can afford to pay the prices they want (obviously, a closed border also helps). All longer terms and lower rates do is enable sellers (and banks) to get more money at the expense of the buyer by increasing the size of the market that can “afford” to pay higher prices.

Do you want to live in an apartment for 50 years with rent increases each year or do you want the option to get a loan with a fixed monthly payment? Because if you're too poor to afford a 30-yr loan, you're literally beholden to landlords right now and there is no other option but to be homeless. Unless you're the 1%, you're going to be beholden to someone financially no matter what. You want to be free? Go live in a cardboard box.

My groceries have gone up a bit in price but not nearly as much as they went up under Biden. At the end of the day I have a very hard time understanding this food shortage issue. Other then beef going crazy I really haven't seen too much of a difference. Where the difference is though is definitely in prepared foods and fast food. Those are fucking crazy compared to a few years ago and in my opinion all this food is expensive sperging is the people who can't cook. It's a very basic skill and with youtube you can pick any level from never scrambled eggs to chef and have someone walk you through it step by step for FREE.

Ideally you shop at costco/sam's club, ideally you go in with friends and get a quarter cow in your fridge. I get that's not something most people can do but everyone can meal prep. I cooked up 5 lbs of ground beef last weekend and now I have 16 dinners that take zero effort. I buy flour and make bread, I buy pizza flour and make my own pizza and it all tastes better and not full of god knows what.

Rice is cheap, buy a 20 lb sack, get a protein, like chicken, or eggs, and a rice cooker if you're lazy and you can eat quite cheaply. I'll use S&B Golden curry powder, or just cook an egg in there, lots of options and scales well for a family. Honestly though you can buy a pack of steaks for the price you would pay ubereats for fast food.

I don't love everything Trump has done and the jeet love stuff is depressing because I can't imagine being a fresh college graduate today but this idea that we had an alternative is ludicrous. With Kamala we'd have all this gay shit except we'd be digging the hole deeper instead of finally starting to fill it back in. It'll be hard work but overall this administration has been the best hope I've had in a decade for this country.

A loan you can't pay off in this lifetime is rent by another name. If the prices of basic goods you need to live are rising faster than incomes, people are getting poorer, not richer. Doesn't matter how you jigger the T&Cs on the payment terms. People are getting poorer. They're working more to get less.
