Chik fil-A is a minor white pill to me because every one I go to is staffed with teenagers and young adults who can actually pretend to care about their jobs and are compensated relatively well for fast food. Meanwhile most other fast food places are staffed with surly burnouts and ESL foreigners.

Worked at McDonald's and Taco John's when I was a kid, can confirm this is the case. Most of your coworkers are ESL Mexicans who are getting paid under the table. At McDonald's they'd put all the Mexicans in the kitchen (almost all of them couldn't speak any English) and place the nice looking White kids like me in the customer-facing positions.

I actually liked (most of) them. They were all very hard workers and exceptionally friendly. There were many Indians at Taco John's and they were as terrible as you'd think.

The ROI on Israel is pretty bad but it definitely didn't start off that way. Israel was given very strong support because it's a democracy in a third world of Islamic dictatorships. In a different era that was more useful strategically then it is now.

It started as a useful proxy for US foreign policy, to kill people we didn't like and we basically handed a kid a gun and said "oh my god UN we can't believe they did this" then vetoed any consequences against them.

It was a fundamental in real world technical integrations for things like missile interception and WW2 wasn't ancient history and it was given a lot of leeway.

However by giving Israel this extreme tech lead, funding, spy training, and access they went from quietly doing things like stealing nuclear secrets and creating political connections to controlling a sizeable amount of US policy through political donations.

The upsides to Israel as an ally are few and far between today and the negatives are much more evident. You couldn't google the US liberty 30 years ago, AIPAC was less powerful but more importantly largely unknown by your average taxpayer.

We created the monster with the best of intentions much like we did with Osama bin Laden. The thing keeping it afloat today is those previously built up tendrils and evangelicals mostly.
