Not surprised about the Boeing announcement, Boeing Defense Systems has generally always their shit together compared to the commercial side, which is just now again ramping up with improved QC and oversight.
The St Louis MO site, which is basically the old McDonnell-Douglass defense division headquarters, was and continues to be the sole production site for bunch of well-regarded fighters and attack aircraft. They added an unnamed 6th gen fighter to the official site logo last year, and some of the guys I used to work with say they're in the process of demolishing the old abandoned McD factory to erect a new facility
I think there's a different 6th gen navy contact that will probably go to Lockmart with general dynamics as a primary supplier, this is for the Air Force contract and will likely be built in partnership with Northrop like the Super Hornet
