Undertale / Deltarune / Toby Fox Discussion

I think the issue comes from the fact that the word "obsessed" comes off as a massive exaggeration in the context of what we're actually shown.

Asgore had ONE manga sitting on top of his tv and ONE anime figure sitting in his car, but apparently that's enough to completely transform the entire dark world into being overtly Japanese themed.

Mew Mew isn't even a main character, she's a missable secret boss.

If anything I would've expected it to be more marriage themed given his actual obsession towards preserving the flowers from his wedding day and trying to make everything like it used to be so he can get Toriel back.
Maybe he's a bigger weeb than Alphys

Chapter 3 is an example of this:

In both "routes" you can take on it, the cleave happens in one he's fixed cause the people you recruit help and the other he's broken cause you find him too late without help
Imagine how disappointing it would be if the end of the game was just "Good Job Kris! You got every recruit! The power of friendship stopped the roaring!"

Isn't the weird route just a reference to the creepypasta Ben drowned? Think about it, Noelle fucks with the game, is mentally ill, wants to fuck (with) the player and also drowns herself and Kris (Ben got drowned by his father). It makes perfect sense and nobody has ever brought it up.

Honestly that would be a nightmare of contrived writing and Toby Fox would be legally required to be beat to death.

So far, I believe the Roaring happens either way, the prophesy seems to hint that it will happen or at least as close as possible but the aftermath will play out different if you have recruited people or not.

What if the Susie theory is right though? Susie posts up in Castle Town as the final dungeon, and the more Darkners you've recruited, the harder the final dungeon will be since they act as your main opposition. Meaning if you chose to attack more throughout the story, you'd have an easier time. That would be a satisfying twist I think.

No it really doesn't.
As someone who very much knows the original story and even followed it after it went full retard. (The ARG arc and onward.) literally the only connection I could find is the game from Chapter 3 clearly being inspired by Zelda 1 both in visuals and gameplay. That's it. That's where the similarities end.

t's implied that Carol has completely removed any and all crime from hometown and the police are just there for show. Undyne also complains about how nothing happens in Hometown.
Carol just removed all black people from hometown and the crime rates immediately dropped to 0
I always thought that it was Susie being too emotionally stunted to differentiate romantic and platonic feelings.
Yeah that makes sense with the whole susie can't define love shit and susie going "however you like me, I like you" (paraphrasing).
I wonder if Susie knew that Kris likes her if she would also like Kris back?

I still wonder what's even the point of teasing Papyrus so strongly for 5+ chapters/8+ years. Every chapter seems less and less like there's a reason to keep him conspicuously absent. The obvious thing is that he'll finally appear in the post-credits of Chapter 7 or something, where it's too late to have any impact or give you the chance to talk to him. But that seems too pedestrian at this point. I'm almost wondering if he's gonna casually reveal it was his middle brother Wingdings without any further explanation (yet).

Or even some random completely new brother no one had any way to know about like fucking... I don't know, Mistral, Jokerman, or Bradley Hand. Some literal who font skeleton that the player has no reason to give a shit about. Then Sans gives you a wink and a nudge about how he never said he only had one brother, or something like that.

There's an very convincing argument for him being the forgotten man, the main pieces of evidence being that he was featured poking his head out from behind a tree on a piece of fangamer merch, and that (YOU) the player, are the only one besides sans who seems to know he exists.

How this ends up being possible is anyone's guess. Maybe Kris's trauma is finding out humans have skeletons inside of them

Ngl I find a controller to be the best way for me to play DR. K&M gives me mad carpel tunnel and I'm a lot more precise with an analog anyway.
For some reason I play better with the keyboard, so I do controller for most stuff, but during secret bosses I have to lock in and go back to keyboard.

The Knight actually isn't trying to make the Roaring happen
They probably don't want the roaring to happen, otherwise they'd just start it by spamming black fountains. Either that or they need specific circumstances for the roaring for their true goals to come to fruition; Maybe the roaring does happen but it doesn't matter cuz hometown is a simulation or something and they're trying to break out of it. I think the most likely thing is that the knight gang wants to bring back Dess in some capacity (and perhaps something else) and they need to go about it in a specific way.

So far it seems like
>The knight wants us (Susie, Ralsei, Player) to view them as an oppositional force
>They don't actually want to stop us though.
>The knight is seemingly smart enough to plan and hold back to adhere to their plans.

Side tangent, but the way I interpreted the whole knight fight stuff is that the knight is trying to 1. Stall, 2. Make us think that we're after Toriel (Knight could have done this either because using Toriel as a prop was the best way to stall until Undyne gets here, or because they wanted to show us that the Knight is trying to kidnap specific people, instead of just like stealing Undyne for attacking her). The way I interpreted "beating" the knight is that before this the knight was holding back to stall for time until Undyne arrives, but after the piece of the sword breaks off the knight realises "they can actually hurt me (a little bit)" so they stop playing and swoon everyone. This is consistent with the fact they can pretty easily maul everyone in chapter 4, and also literally one shot Flowery who is about as strong as the "fun" Gang. Additionally, the reason that Kris does more damage when Susie/Ralsei is downed isn't because he's throwing a hissy fit, but because he's trying to stall as well, and not tip the others off to the fact he's not pulling his weight. Anyway,

>The knight waits a really long time to do anything, mainly in chapter 3 and 5. For chapter 3 we know because he wanted to bait undyne to kidnap her, but for chapter 5 we don't know. Chapter 3 and 5 both ended at night, so maybe it needs to be night for the knight to be active in hometown? Maybe they wanted to minimise who could see them in hometown? Or maybe they're a holiday and they were occupied before this.
>The knight either seemingly needs the bunker codes for something, wants to stop us getting in from the bunker, wants to give us a reason to try and get into the bunker, or wants to delay us getting into the bunker. Idk

Yeah a lot of mysteries
Modders don't make the game and the vanilla game says otherwise.
Thats because the game is retarded. Kris is obviously a man, and this isn't exactly equivalent to people saying shit like "OMG THIS CHARACTER IS GAY OR TRANS OR BLAH BLAH BLAH" for whatever reason, because the difference is that everyone is a man or a woman and "Non-binary" doesn't exist, so our observations are actually based on reality instead of delusions. Also, Toby hasn't even clarified if Kris is meant to be "Non-binary" or "up-to-interpretation" which is really silly, just clarify it ffs.

Close, Mantle seems to be very Link's Awakening inspired. Specifically Face Shrine. The dungeon where you learn the truth about the island of Koholint.
The whole thing is a dream, and defeating the nightmares will wake the dreamer, killing everyone else on the island, but saving link and the dreamer.

Its definitely an intentional parallel to that game. Even the tracks are similar.

Actually this reminds me of another thing in Link's Awakening

Marin(One of the dream inhabitants) tells Link she'd like to grow wings and fly away from the island. If you manage to beat the game without dying, its implied she's become a seagull and not vanished from existence upon the dream ending.

Última edición:
>Noelle, the richest kid in town, befriends him and orders him around all the time
>Even goes so far as to do things like talk to him like a dog and offer dog treats if he does stupid shit
>Clear sociopathic tendencies
>Clearly thinks extremely little of everyone thanks to her outlook.
Guys I think this crazy bitch Noelle thinks Kris is genuinely like a pet dog.
What the fuck is wrong with the Holiday family.
Toby what the fuck is this?
He saw how Makima did Denji and thought "Damn I wish that was me"

I think it's clear that there's more to the Knight's motivations than JUST the Roaring, as other people have stated if they wanted to they could just spam fountains nonstop until it happened.

Kidnapping people in the bunker for the "sacrifice" seems to be the big thing they're focusing on, so it probably has something to do with that.

Maybe the way to make the roaring happen but twist it into something more favorable requires a specific ritual whereas just Fountainspamming would completely destroy everything?

Apparently a few trannies are really mad about how Starwalker appears in the climbing mini-game if he's active because it denies Ralsei his important scene of "character development".
