I've been thinking about this, the truth is one of the many reasons this game is taking so long is that Toby has to fill every chapter with a new gimmick that's built from the ground up. There's also the whole idea chapter 4 introduced where the prophecy is a sort of monomyth through which the same story is reinterpreted and retold. I think this is a reaction to the undertale fandom, with it's myriad AUs and the tons of fanwork for both it and deltarune.

This is cope, but I estimate that towards the end there will be some vague overture towards taking that white pen of hope and retelling the story in the way you want to. All of this code, all those gimmicks, all these unused party members (like berdly) will be used by people to write their own deltarune in their own way. (Now with less yuri)
Ah yes, the end of Deltarune:
"Fuck you, buy a subscription to Claude and make your own fucking ending, prick."
Just as Toby envisioned it all those years ago...

We have been presented with the gayest shit imaginable and are coping that it’ll become secretly based in a year. Surely nothing bad will come from this mindset.
Even Twitter and Reddit, where I expected utterly sycophantic praise for the game, is all like "this kinda sucks, is Susie SUPPOSED to be wildly out of character?", I usually try to stay away from the "ahh, but it was poorly written ON PURPOSE" line of thinking since Toby is very genuine about his lesbian fetish, but I swear this shit can't possibly be played dead straight later, can it?

This but unironically, Gaster tells you that the while the prophecy is immutable (the archetypical monomyth) you can interfere with its retelling. After chapter 7 the torch is passed to (you) and the Angel creates a new world.

I still don't understand how Toby Fox managed to fumble ep 5 this hard.
The gameplay is OK, but the story feels more like a tumblr tier fanfic.
The secret boss is meh with one annoying attack that's basically "bomberman on crack".
I do wonder if all the gay shit, especially with some of the flowers, was added strategically to ward off criticism.
The Suselle part is the least offending part to me.

I think really drives home how inconsequential the chapter is, is Asgore. In the last 5 minutes of the Dark World, he literally says "I don't really care about this, I was just playing along and I have a life to get back to". Then Flowery gets cut in half and tells you the important info you need to know.

I think Mew Mew had more plot significance than any of the flowers or Flowery did.

Genuinely the only reason I'm coping and sneeding right now lmao

>every chapter involving Kris's immediate family is a filler chapter

Toby Fox would never let ANYONE compromise his creative vision, unless they cut their dick off in which case they can add and change whatever they want no questions asked
I don't think the guy who let So Sorry anywhere near his first game has THAT impenetrable walls to his creative vision, but if that's what it takes, maybe somebody can post their footage of willingly fighting fucking Mad Mew Mew and he'll believe that they're as dickless as you need to be to do that shit?

Crack theory: What susie saw at the end of the real prophecy went something like "to save the two worlds, there is only one way, the girl and the dragon must be slain" Kris having to murder everyone out of jealousy (and I do now believe the fires of jealousy wasn't ever asgore but kris). It's alluded to that Kris will go on a rampage in the light world and has killed before even if it wasn't Dess.
Kris has 0 XP and 1 LV in the Light World. Assuming that works the same way as in Undertale, he's never killed anyone.

If Toby actually subverts the yurishit however in a following chapter and this was all meant as set-up to make the player feel like Kris, then he will have successfully crushed most of that coal into gem. Except the stain that is brokeback and blugger. And the fact that it was kind of a slog.
And my GOAT Berdly is rendered a non-character. And the lack of an Asgore cool moment.
(Doubleposting because I read slightly further and can't edit in quotes)

I think Berdly is left comatose in the Weird Route so you have a chance to back out. Noelle mentioned something about a maze that's impossible without a certain character in your party, so my best guess is in the Normal Route he comes back in the endgame (Replacing Kris post-crashout?) and in the Weird Route he expires.

Hold on a fucking second.
Right after Seth breaks them out of jail.
>I made good on our promise, didn't I?
>Before you made the Dark World...?
>That if... I helped you out, you'd make it worth my while?

If Kris is in cahoots with the Knight to bring about the Roaring, why would he want to escape?

Well judging from his username, his penis is already on fire, so he's our most likely candidate.

A small price to pay to spite the yuriniggers.

I forgot about this. But I can't think of how it's significant atm. I'm sure it will be. Or not, depending on the levels of yurislop.

My question is why they made a deal with Seth specifically out of all of the flowers and not Flowery, did he already know he'd wind up in that one specific jail and need them to open the door for him? And how the hell did he learn about Seth's berdly admiration to have prepared one of his feather's ahead of time?
