Nah, Chara ate the poisonous flowers so Asriel could take his soul and then kill some humans to get the souls needed to break the barrier. Asriel however pussied out at the very end and cried and let the humans kill him. Monsters in Undertale lore can absorb human souls for massive power.
The dual suicide they do here is very clearly going to end up with LOVE FINDING ITS WAY TO THE GIRL, creating the same sorta thing.

Noelle is like a fucking Schrodinger's character, she's the best character in one route, and the worst character in another. This is the power of not forcing Yurislop, Toby.

This chapter managed to make me feel bad for Kris, which is fairly impressive as I felt Kris was just a little shit up until now. Like this is rough dude. It's just nonstop blow after blow to him from start to finish. He has basically nothing at this point.

The only person that seems to really, truly care about Kris to the point he'll give up what he wants for his sake is Asgore, and that's only at the end. Everyone else doesn't seem to give a fuck if Kris is around. Even Susie seems to just be replacing Kris with Noelle, who herself is a fake friend that doesn't really care about Kris either despite knowing him her entire life.

He isn't even mean to the Soul this chapter, he just takes it out for a couple seconds to open the fountain then puts us back.

A while back a youtuber theorized you have to get the eggs in a mixmatched order, opposed to going chapter by chapter, based by the weird wording of the instructions on how to get the eggs. I wonder if that can be tested now?

I enjoyed the fights, the secret boss and the flower faggot were fun, at least to me. The platforming section is neat, you even have a small appearance from Friend.

Not a fan of the music, it wasn't bad it just didn't do it for me.

The gameplay was pretty fun, I'll give the chapter that. Never expected 2D platforming in Deltarune.

I'm seriously dreading the upcoming chapters, there's no way Toby can unfuck the story with so little time, and if the writing continues to be this poor then the resolution will be God awful.
Why did I get invested in this in 2018??

Things that need to be wrapped up in the span of 2 chapters:

*What exactly happened to Dess?

*What's the deal with the knight? What does it want, why/how was it created, who is it, what is its actual motivation and why? Yeah yeah roaring and probably dess, but respectively how and more importantly why?

*What the deal with Sans existing in both undertale and deltarune? How does it tie into the overal plot?

*What the fuck the connection with undertale is.

*What's going on with Papyrus? Why can't we see him?

*Why was Asgore fired and why is Carol covering for him, why did Toriel divorce him and hate him this much?

*What's the deal with Kris like... as a whole? Why is he helping the knight? How did he lose his original soul? How did he get the red soul?

*What's the deal with the Soul? Who the fuck is it and what does it want? How did it lose its original body? How did it find kris? What does it want in either route and why? (Don't say the fucking player that gay and cringe as fuck.)

*Where the fuck is Asriel? Why is he hidden from us?

*Susie's parents and original homelife. She's literally living in the school closet.

*What the fuck is going on with ralsei? Who is he? What is he? What is his entire deal?

*What's the deal with the dark world and the darkners? Are they slaves, servants, imaginary, why and how were they forgotten, the prophecy, the blah blah blah blah, you get it.

*What's the deal with the roaring?

*How all this connects to the weird route?

*THE FUCKING DELTARUNE

*Gaster or whatever.

*The cheshire cat that has been following us around with the pink and yellow eye.

*More shit I'm probably forgetting because holy fuck there's a ridiculous ammount of hanging plot threads.

*Where the fuck is undyne and what has she been doing this whole time in the knight's rape dungeon?

Sorry guys, I thought toby was playing 5D chess right up until this point but I think he's just a shit writer that lucked out.

Even if the next 2 chapters are literally packed end to end with 100% plotbombs and 0% filler (which won't happen), there is no fucking way to make all these reveals feel organic and earned.

The story is LITERALLY in its third act (5 out of 7 is 70%) and we don't even know basic shit like "Who is the antagonist, what does the antagonist want, why does the antagonist want it, what the fuck is even our goal, what the fuck is even going on".

the best i can figure is that kris is going along with the knight because he was created for the sole purpose of playing his part of the prophecy. the lack of any personal achievements is a little alarming on its own, but the relationships he has with his family and friends makes it seem like he's stuck between carrying out his destiny vs enjoying the life he was given. who knows what is going on inside his head. who even knows that he is the cage aside from the knight. who knows what's going to happen next with weird route, or what was really going on in the sword route.

Now that I've had time to mull it over, I actually liked the Susie x Noelle stuff pre-Dark World. It felt very genuine and if it turned out that Kris actually snuck off during it and we got to see some shenanigans involving the Knight I'd probably be more forgiving in regards to the writing.

The festival was almost intentionally underwhelming though. Feels like a lot of content was cut.

i really want to think that's what it's going for, the shot of kris looking at the closet, and walking away from it, gives me hope that he's more than just a bicycle for Susie and Noelle's super lesbean adventure. if Kris gets neglected in favor of Noelle in both routes i'm going to find Toby and call him a niggerfaggot to his face.

The worst part about all this is that there wasn't a single song in this entire chapter that stood out as very good, with the closest being the Asgore remix.
An Asgore boss remix could've been cool, if we got that.
But we didn't get a fucking Asgore boss at all for some reason.
My expectations are subverted, everyone wanted a gayer Flowey boss battle who literally screams "OMEGA FLOWEY" for Chapter 5. Bravo Toby you fucking faggot.
Can't wait for the secret sans boss fight where he screams "UNDERTALE" as a voice clip.

The knight was created to cause the roaring, and the roar needs to happen because the knight was created to cause it because the prophecy says that the knight must be created to cause the roaring and kris is going along because is not a very satisfying plot reveal. "Because prophecy" is a huge copout.

When I asked "who is the antagonist" I meant it quite literally, yeah its the knight, but quite literally WHO is the knight? What are its wants, desires, goals and motivations?
