you know, that does make a little bit of sense, just not in the way it's presented. there's only three people that really understand kris (aside from susie), and that's noelle, asriel, and dess. asriel is in college, dess is getting norted in the dark, and noelle is too busy throwing kris under the bus because she thinks that'll make her look cooler to susie. i can see susie filling that void, but it's a natural friendship like with him and noelle, and nothing forced like noelle and susie or noelle and burghley.

I mean I get it, but it just pretty funny to compare a goodie two-shoes Asriel to someone like Susie who's more like Dess in personality (then you could say Susie for Kris is more of a parrarel to Dess)

I kinda suspected that already just by looking at the comments and the way it's presented like the ultimate checkmate, it's more meant to take the jab at the more obviously serious comment

By gatekeeping fiction, you too can protect against obnoxious spergs like this. Then, you can enjoy what you like without a thousand Tumblr-esque dipshits screeching over it.

Sadly the opposite is happening, it's the tumblirites gatekeeping UTDR from the heckin' chuds that misgender Kris (even if that's an non-native that has hard time grasping the unnatural usage of they as singular pronoun) Not surprising since Toby Fox was already popular in those circles via working on Homestuck, and made a game catering to them by adding LGBTQ+ stuff in it.

Thankfully, at least it's not the case in Russian/Japanese Fandoms, people there don't put the gay representation as the main big thing they hyperfixate on and just enjoy the game. For example the Russian fandom calls Kris a "he" and no one has problem with it except an extreme minority. You can't really do that in the western one, since you would get jumped by all the trannies calling you a larper for not being a wholesome chungus and respecting Kris's pronouns, which is how they gatekeep anyone actually normal and basically make or break by either making you go silent about your interest or just aligning yourself with the wokies and singing kumbaya with them

But it's a totally valid example of how trannies ruin Fandoms and make them infamous and obnoxious, and how it can actually be pretty good when you gatekeep trannies instead like the Japanese/Russian one

And then it's drawings of Ralsei in a generic fuckboy pose in a suit or a cowboy costume, with Ralsei in a skirt grayed out and drawn like a whimpy bitch

Quick rant about "group call theory" for chapter 4: it is retarded.

Why would the game go to great lengths to establish that Spamton had private calls with a mysterious benefactor over an old-ass rotary phone in both chapters 2 and 3, where third parties, even if they tried to listen in on it, could not hear anything but garbage noise? Only to later drop the idea of a "conspiracy group call" on the player's head?

It feels like an overcomplicated thought that absolutely does not pass Occam's Razor. In the overwhelming majority of cases in media, phone calls symbolize private 1-to-1 conversations. You have to make it very clear to convey the idea that there are multiple people involved.

Fuck the idea that Kris is contacting a "group", fuck the idea that "the voice is black because it's coming out of a Dark World". It's just more unnecessary complication.

The simplest explanation? The voice is black because it's the voice of the Knight, a singular entity who's a fucked up darkness monster that is 100% black, exactly like the speech bubble. The one individual Kris is clearly and obviously shown to be colluding with.

i have replayed chapter 4 again, and oh shit this group call theory is utterly retarded. first, the speech bubble in dess's rooms remains the same. second, you can't hear the entire conversation, it is partially redacted by dots. the benefactor could have just said "Kris, you will" or "Kris, you have to", i don't believe in this "caller mentions kris in third person" bullshit.

add everything you stated above, and this theory is absolutely annihilated. well it came from the retarded western tranny deltarune community so what have i expected?

Agreed. I realized how much i wanted to see him act and look more masculine when i saw these two fanarts of him and Susie role reversed. I think these were made before chapter 2.


And there was also a more recent one where it depicted him aged up as some kind of Paladin/Knight but still had the same personality, though i didn't get a higher resolution pic when i first saw them and i can't seem to find the OP.

In a vacuum, the "masculine girl/feminine boy/unconfirmed-but-obviously-male" party isn't a bad thing, and it's an easy way to set up a dynamic of social outcasts bonding. The problem is Tumblr.

I saw a fanmade GIF of Dess and Kris and I thought it would be very interesting if it were revealed that Dess was far from a good person. Only nice to Noelle, maybe a bit good to Kris and Asriel, but she'd have a really nasty side. At the very least who Dess was should be a little more complex than "cool dead older-sibling that everyone loved."

I'm aware that this trope is similar to Mari from Omori, (and it's likely what Toby Fox was referring to as something similar made by a friend of his), but AFAIK (please correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't played the game) Mari wasn't shown to have any sort of flaws outside that one fight with Sunny resulting in her death. Dess being portrayed as being an especially flawed person would be an interesting subversion of sorts and would perfectly fit with the themes of escapism and nostalgia Deltarune has; staying stuck in the past blinds you to the inevitable future.

I have been feeling this too. i think Toriel and Noelle's walk around sprite and gameplay sprite (well Noelle's) are cute but their text box sprites look like troons.
