Ubisoft to pull online from older games, which also takes away your DLC - same old ,same old start hunting before the purge

Ubisoft 'Decommissioning Assassin's Creed: Liberation,' Says Owners Will Still Have Access - IGN

Ubisoft is removing access to Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD on Steam, but in a statement said that it would remain available for current owners.

As stated in our support article, only DLCs and online features will be affected by the upcoming decommissioning. Current owners of those games will still be able to access, play or redownload them. Our teams are working with our partners to update this information across all storefronts and are also assessing all available options for players who will be impacted when these games’ online services are decommissioned on September 1st, 2022. It has always been our intention to do everything in our power to allow those legacy titles to remain available in the best possible conditions for players, and this is what we are working towards.

Ubisoft is already the absolute worst with pushing their DLC - between the Trials Ultimate “Complete” pack that still doesn’t include like 40 tracks, plus has 5 bikes that still cost $5 - $10 each, the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey/Origins games where they started forcing you to grind levels to progress and then sell “boosters”, Steep and The Crew with similar bullshit to Trials. Not to mention their subscription service, similar to Game Pass except it’s more expensive and you only get access to Ubisoft games

To have them then literally turn off DLC you bought is absolutely disgusting. The games are a decade old, so I can understand them turning off MP servers, but depriving me of stuff I paid for is ridiculous.

I already swore after Trials Ultimate burned me that I’d never spend money on an Ubisoft game again, and this just reinforces it.

It's a pipe dream, but I do imagine a time when video game makers were back to being small team cowboys...
 
Blood Dragon has always been a standalone game. It has no DLC of its own either so it should be ok.

Still though, the casual arrogance of the statement they made - "only DLCs....will be affected" - Yeah, you know, the hours of content, that you PAID FOR, oh that stuff's just gone, no big deal, don't worry about it. Holy shit Ubi. As said by others before some DLC is almost big enough to be a standalone game.

I've been really quite down on contemporary games the past bunch of years but to me this is actually a surprising new low. For anyone like me who thought "at least I have my old games" - lol lmao not anymore, not as you remember them! Eat shit, customer!

2070 is at least still playable offline (which I did a few times). You will miss the extra bonuses the online events give, though, some of which is pretty strong/gamebreaking. (Lol -50% pollution on coal plants right off the bat).
 
currently playing AC Black flag and its not a bad game all things considered. it's not a favourite of mine but i might be biased because i like pirates. Wouldnt bother picking it up though after all this bs, there are better games to waste money on.

Rayman was a childhood favourite of mine and i don't thing the rabbids are as bad as people make them out to be. they are suppose to be annoying and they do that job pretty well. Shame that franchise is pratically dead bar that weird mario spinoff thing they ahve going on (which is apparently good but never played).
