Bored. Looking around old forum stuff. Found Fast Eddie dickishly refusing to put in a feature I thought every forum had by now, forcing them to use a weird system of arrows..Ver archivo adjunto 72623
"Quote buttons suck!"

Perfect reasoning. It's not like people may be replying to someone from a different page or anything...

Truly that shows how competent and hardworking he is. Choosing not to have something all other forums have that also makes it easier for readers to know who they speak to. Screw the quote button, he's trying to make his forums special than they already are.

I love how he makes it sound like quote buttons are so difficult to implement that he couldn't be arsed to even start.

Like, what the fuck? Replicating strings can't be that tough to pull off.
We're talking about some old geezer who didn't even bother upgrading the site's code until he gave it to someone else. I'm surprised he was even capable of making TVTropes to begin with.

Eddie was frankly a goddamn retard, this ED page (which is quite well sourced) breaks down all the technical reasons TV Tropes wiki engine is a POS.

Additionally, if you're planning to kidnap somebody - I mean, write about kidnapping somebody - one way to encourage this in your captives is to be their sympathetic jailor for several days running, until they are accustomed to you, then swap out for a day to a random, less sympathetic jailor. Then come back, preferably with a reason that blames the 'rescuers'. They'll be very glad to see you again. Again, be careful or you'll fall prey to Lima Syndrome if it fails.

What happened to FastEddie anyway after the owner switching? Dude is just unpleasant to be around. And something tells me he'll return.

He ran the fuck away, basically. Apparently, after someone doxed his ass, he went silent, and the last anyone heard he announced the selloff, and since then no one has heard from him.

Also, lots of people have criticized the stupid shit Eddie did since, even some of his former mods, and not one of them has gotten screwed for it, so if he's around, he's utterly powerless now.

Eddie is probably still dicking around the site, but going undercover using another handle. He himself suggested this when he "left".

Honestly, as much of a grouchy, mildly senile old man Eddie was, I'm starting to kinda miss him. I mean, he was a dick, but at least he was always around and was easy to contact, unlike drewski, who only shows up occasionally to fuck things up, and then leaves again.

The more time I look at the new TV Tropes admins the more I believe they have no fucking idea what they're doing. Eddie didn't either, but at least he never actually attempted to change anything, so it was less bad.

TvTropes' second layout change wasn't that bad. The third one made the site, as a guy from the previous page said, look generic and seemed unnecessary. Plus some of the most basic options like site coloration now requires an account.

And if anything, I think something else is much more wrong with TVT since I went to it a while ago to look for a trope and got a gateway timeout error, which has never occurred in my visits until now.

Fighteer is really crowning himsef in the US Politics thread with the news of Antonin Scalia's passing.

Fighteer dijo:
I would be sad at Scalia's passing, but (a) his life was not a thing to celebrate, (b) his passing gives us a chance to have a 5-4 liberal majority in the Supreme Court. So, while Saint Peter is busily handing ol' Antonin his bus ticket to the Fires Below, I will sing "Ding, dong, the witch is dead" at the top of my lungs.
Fighteer dijo:
Scalia was the kind of man decent people crossed the street to avoid. He was a stain on the soul of humanity. Good riddance.
Fighteer dijo:
Exactly. One regards Scalia's passing the way one might a serial killer's. Yeah, there's kind of a generic sadness that a person died, but other than that...

Just because you disagreed with a person politically doesn't mean you should celebrate his death, horrible cunt.

I don't live in the US and I don't know what exactly Scalia did, but unless a person is Hitler or a serial rapist, talking like this about the recently deceased is really fucking disgusting and low.

Isn't the TVT staff just great?

Remind me to treat your death the same way, skidmark

I don't know if they still have the review subpages but I remember saving this from the Legend of Korra review page when the series finale premiered because wow, the autism is shining. They're talking about the endgame couple, which was the MC and another girl, for reference.
Delusional Shipper dijo:
This pairing is the only one I have EVER actually cared about. In fictional relationships, I’ve always seen them bogged down by endless stupidity. It’s always love triangles, or will-they-won’t-they bullshit, or it’s one-sided with stalker behavior getting involved, or they're star-crossed, or one can't work up the courage to talk to the other, or contrived miscommunication, or there’s cheating, or I flat out don’t like one or both of them. I hate the Love Makes You Stupid trope. I hate the subtle anti-intellectualism of treating it as a truism that love bringing down your IQ while also presenting it as the greatest thing you can feel. The relationship between these two has none of those problems. Their both smart, cool, and mature, they talk to each, they care about each other, and I like both of them. But for some reason people think it's a mistake. I've seen three common reasons people say they don't like the pairing: homophobia, which I won't go into, ship rivalry, which I don't care about, and the feeling it was "rushed". The two have been growing closer and having plenty of subtext throughout seasons 3 & 4. Don't tell me they didn't, the bulk of the Korra Ho Yay page was the two of them. And all they did at the end was, effectively, go on a first date. They didn't even kiss! It's not like they had a completely one-sided crush for a few episodes and then got married! No one would ever find that romantic and believable and I'm sure many fans would feel the same way if something like that happened with a straight couple! Some also dismiss it as a gimmick, something tacked on at the last second. Even if that was true, it doesn't matter. It works, and it felt great. That's why I'm so defensive of it. It made me give a damn about a romantic relationship, something no other work has ever done. It actually made my cold, lifeless heart beat. And I'm glad it exists.
I bet you anything Dobson wrote this.

Hasn't happened to me yet, surprisingly enough. I guess it's only a matter of time, though.
