TV Tropes community

Yeah, I'm mixed on this decision. I can't see why they need to have those since there's already a discussion tap on the page to begin with. On the other hand, I'd be all for seeing stupid users expose themselves more.

But this makes me wonder if there's anyone on that site who thinks it's a stupid idea.

There are. Undoubtedly once it happens you'll see them come out in full force.

Comment sections would just move the discussion pages to the actual page, so all it would do is make the autism easier to find.

As for the database change, they have some pipe dream about making the site a "semantic database", which PmWiki was not designed to do at all, and while possible to implement, would require ripping up too much of the existing firmament and starting over, since semantic wikis are purely database driven and TV Tropes uses some frankensteined flat file/database hybrid system.

They also can be hell on weak servers since all data in constantly queried from the database dynamically, and TV Tropes hasn't exactly had a good track record with that, especially while using a wiki engine that was never really designed for a site their size.

DethroningMoment pages are pretty funny, they're just people sperging out over whatever minor thing triggered 'em.

Team Four Star's is mostly just overly sensitive feminists flipping out over the one or two mildly tasteless jokes they've made.

We've covered them earlier, and yes, they're fucking hilarious.

I've struck troper gold.

Meet Bulmabriefs 144

Seems unassuming and mild by troper standards, right? No grand list of self aggrandizing, edgy, oh-so-quirky tropes applied to themselves, right.

Now see how they're the creator of "The Oracle of Tao"?

I decided to check it out. It's your garden variety shitty RPGmaker game.

Now go to the Crowning Moment of Awesome page for it. Click history.

Guess who but in 90% of the entries?

That's right, the creator of the game.

Bulmabriefs 144.

There's a lot of tropers who aren't happy, but a lot of them have actual reasons other than "I don't like change"...

I've looked at the prototype for the new site.

Why must every website look like Wikia? (:_(

Anyway, I predict drama.
Maybe it's just that I haven't been there in a while, but why do they need the big fuckoff options thing on the side? It makes everything smaller and would have been better implemented as a drop-down menu. Also, are they trying to sell metadata now? It's never asked me to create an account to change options before.
