Jesus made St. Peter the first pope of the Catholic Church. I know that doesn't mean much to Protestants, but it means a lot to Catholics because Jesus literally handed the keys to the kingdom to Peter. You can actually trace every pope all the way from today back to St. Peter.
I have my own issues with the Vatican and the last couple of popes, but as a Catholic I feel that I have more of a right to have a grievance with what's going on in my church.

I say this as someone who was on the Trump train since I was a fucking kid, what he did was beyond blasphemous and any respect I had is gone.
