Trump Plans To Invoke Insurrection Act To Boot Illegal Immigrants

President Donald Trump is planning on using the Insurrection Act to remove illegal immigrants from the United States, The Daily Caller has learned.

President Donald Trump is planning on using the Insurrection Act to remove illegal immigrants from the United States, The Daily Caller has learned.

According to multiple senior administration officials, the president intends to invoke the “tremendous powers” of the act to remove illegal immigrants from the country.


“We’re doing the Insurrection Act,” one official said.

Under the Insurrection Act of 1807, the president has the authority to use the National Guard and military in order to combat “unlawful obstruction or rebellion” within U.S. borders. The act was last invoked in 1992 by George H.W. Bush to quell the Los Angeles riots, and was also used by Eisenhower in 1957 to enforce school desegregation in the south.

An official expressed concerns that Trump’s use of the act’s powers would face legal challenges, pointing to the lawsuits against the president’s travel ban from majority-Muslim countries. However, as the official noted, the travel ban ultimately prevailed in the Supreme Court.

In addition to the Insurrection Act, the president is also considering declaring the country full and insisting that the U.S. can no longer handle the massive influx of illegal immigrants. 2019 is currently on pace to reach the highest levels of illegal immigration in a decade.

“If you take a ship and it holds 1,000 people maximum — one more person and the ship is going to collapse,” the official explained. “The country is full.”

“Our hospitals are full, our detention centers are full,” they added.

Separately, the president unveiled a new immigration plan Thursday that focuses on border security and merit-based legal immigration. The plan, which was co-authored by top aides Jared Kushner and Stephen Miller, would increase the proportion of visas granted to highly-skilled immigrants and also establish a self-sustaining border security fund.

I would hope that it'll be targeted toward those who've openly announced their intention to commit insurrection--such as the "sanctuary cities".

Reminds me of an anecdote about Savannah's colonial days.
They wouldn't let Jews in for the longest time. Then it just so happened a shipload of immigrants was sitting out in the harbor waiting to plead their case, when an epidemic broke out in the town and the doctor died. They had a trained doctor on that ship who happened to be Jewish. Now the synagogue is right across the square from the cathedral.

I've worked with folks from overseas who had degrees and education and still had to be blue-collar wage slaves, though.

Merit-based immigration will work better if we actually have jobs for the people with the merits. Just run them through a (college?) course to make sure they learn English and are up to US standard with what they know. Boom, the long-drooled-over diversity, and no need for biased SAT bullshit.

It certainly beats the "but they're fleeing poverty uwu" argument, where I'd definitely agree with others that we have more than enough fucking poverty-stricken citizens already here who can't exactly flee anywhere. So yeah, in that sense we definitely are "full". Go back and overpower your own government if you have the balls to cross three or four other countries to try and get here.

In principle I don't like the idea of invoking special acts or powers, but I'm so burned out on immigrants that it's hard for me to care. Fuck 'em.

The National Guard doesn't bring a whole lot to this table. They can assist BP with surveillance, assist with detainee ops, assist with vehicle searches, etc. They don't have the training or mindset to do shit on their own, not without huge negative publicity anyway.

I agree that this sounds like more of a bargaining tool. I'm not sure that it'll work though, since the Democrats would love anything that looks like executive overreach.
