President Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for helping broker a peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, according to a report.

Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament and chairman to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, submitted the nomination, Fox News reported.

“For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” Tybring-Gjedde, told Fox News.

In his letter to the Nobel Committee, Tybring-Gjedde wrote that the Trump administration has played a key role in the establishment of relations between the two nations.

“As it is expected other Middle Eastern countries will follow in the footsteps of the UAE, this agreement could be a game-changer that will turn the Middle East into a region of cooperation and prosperity,” he wrote, Fox News reported.

Norway was also the country where a male politician got raped by a Somali asylum seeker and then expressed guilt that his cooperation with the police led to his rapist being deported, so yeah....

Yeah, I remember that, but that's still nowhere near as cucked as Sweden. I mean, they have an actual right-wing party in government judging by who nominated Trump!

Anyway it is a bullshit award created by a guy who was trying to absolve himself for creating a tremendous tool for destruction.

I think Obama was a lazy choice, almost like, they didn't feel like sitting down and voting, so they were just like, "meh, let's just give it to Obama."

It is well known that the reason Obama got the prize was because the Nobel committee wanted an excuse to hobnob with him. Because celebrity you see. One committee member in particular whose name escapes me was particularly keen.

it sure will be funny to see the liberal reaction to this news. They are already accusing the person who nominated him of being a "far-right extremist".

Just a little more sperging about this.

The man who nominated Trump is Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who serves in the Norwegian parliament and also is chairman to the delegation from Norway to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

It is true that the media largely are calling him an "extremest", "nationalist" and "islamophobe," which tells you more about his political opponents than it does him. The focus of the stories has been more on Tybring-Giedde than on Trump, the nominee. In most stories, very little mention is made of the Israel/UAE peace deal, if it is even mentioned at all.

But mainly, the media's strategy seems to be to just ignore it. The stories have been very short and superficial, almost perfunctory you could say except for all the name-calling. Trump nominated for a Nobel? No way that's gonna fit the wacky narrative.



So, just for shits and giggles, I did a little non-scientific study of my own:

I searched Google News for "Trump" + "Nobel Prize" and was surprised to see almost no items about it from major news sources on the first page of results. Here is what the first eight results looked like:



In order: Fox, The Hill, Politico, Fox again, A.S. News (from Spain!), Marketwatch, Atlanta Journal Constitution, and Bloomberg. The Los Angeles Times makes an appearance toward the top of page two. That is a decidedly second-string assortment of media outlets, except for the dutiful Fox.

If ya don't report it, it almost is like it never happened.

In contrast, if I put "Trump" + "Racist" look what happens...



Is that a rogue's gallery of the usual suspects, or what? CNN, New York Times, BBC, USA Today, Washington Post, Aljazeera, CBS News...

Seems pretty clear to me which narrative gets pushed...but that's like a "duh" realization, I suppose.

Are you sure you're not mixing the Nobel Peace Prize with TIME's "Person of the Year"? Because Hitler won that one in 1938.
"Person of the Year" is for people who were important during said year, regardless if said importance was for good or bad reasons.
