And I would like to remind everyone that the defense budget is being increased while the U.S. Forest Service is getting "reorganized". The reorganization involves a move from DC to fucking Salt Lake City (grim)* and the closing of 57 of its 77 research facilities (wtf is even going on). It's basically fucking dead.
*Edit: To be clear, this is bad because when you move a DC-based org outside of the capital, you'll lose 90% of the workforce stationed there. They just aren't going to move to a shithole for an increasingly uncertain job.

This is deliberate. The "conservatives" are trying to cripple every faculty that advocates for the environment and nature. They want to turn America into China, circa 2000s, where it's all about exploiting the land for resources with zero oversight whatsoever. China spent a decade with trillions to reverse this damage. Something tells me no USA party would even care.
