That's the point. The Church at least helps others in need, and that allowed them to regain some much-needed political capital at a time when people need it the most.

The actual Jesus would throw the rich into Gehenna for not helping the poor, and He ordered His disciples to visit prisoners and heal the sick. If anything, MAGA is the exact opposite of what He fought for.

It's actually kind of funny; both Caesar and Jesus fought against the same kind of social evil with uppity old men in high society, with the Senators in Rome and the Sanhedrin in Jerusalem using the law to make themselves richer at the expense of the common man. And MAGA would rather side with the rich upper class than the poor, which would've made them a target for scorn in the eyes of both the Church and the Empire in the old days.

For all the damage MAGA has done to the Constitution, they are lucky that the USA is still somewhat ruled by it and its secular government, because a truly Christian government would've had no hesitation in condemning the MAGAs to a grisly fate. MAGA would've had two choices in the days of old Christendom: get your eyes gouged out by the Empire (that's what the Christianized Romans replaced crucifixion with, as the legal form of punishment in the Empire) or get burned at the stake by the Church for preaching false doctrines.

A Byzantine Imperator would've reacted to January 6 by having the rioters be given the Bulgarian treatment that Basil II inflicted, and the MAGA megachurch pastors would've been denounced by the Inquisition as heretics and burnt on the stake as punishment.

MAGA should be thanking God that they don't live in the kind of Christian kingdom that they obviously are trying to emulate.

I don't think Steven Crowder would get the same response to being shot like Charlie did. After him yelling at his wife and dodging known jew Sam seder, he kinda became irrelevant as fuck. He's also Canadian which would make the blow even softer as he would apologize profusely for making a mess.

I see Crowder is upping his queer histrionics in order to grift himself into Kirk's position. And to be honest, everybody, including his wife, gives more of a shit about taking that spot than they do actually mourning or caring for the man passing.

Search data for Charlie 3 weeks after his death is lower than it was when he was still alive. It was up when everyone could politically advantage themselves over Charlie getting shot, but everyone has moved onto the next thing and he is now eternally bound to be less relevant with every passing week.

I didn't like the fact Charlie got murdered. Apart from the fact shooting someone for speaking is wrong (and it should go without saying) it was also counter productive to anyone wanting to counter the points Charlie was putting out there. Apart from that I didn't feel much beyond what I do when any celebrity dies.

But now the sadness is kind of kicking in for me, I'm seeing the tragedy. This guy spent his whole adult life striving to be heard, trying to put a message out there, apart from the money Charlie genuinely believed in what he did and that it had significance. Three weeks after the fact, fucking crickets.

All that matters is the race to replace him for the selfish gain of people who called him a colleague, a friend and even a husband. As time passes, his words won't be remembered (as those words in the algorithm compete with the people fighting to replace him), his position won't matter (either politically or personally) because they won't serve whatever political purpose that would be contemporary, and there is only a handful of people who truly cared about him as a person, over caring about him as a pundit and a meal ticket. Historically, the most significant thing Charlie Kirk will have ever done is to have been shot dead.

All that drama, all that work, all that bullshit. To be remembered only (even by those who were close to him) for something someone else did to him, even barely short of a month after he was murdered. His life, his works, his efforts and even his shooting, it is all fucking pointless, his death wasn't seen as a loss but as an advantage to most he called peers and allies, and as that advantage wanes, he'll be forgotten and discarded. Charlie spent his life serving people who viewed him as a commodity; his murder became a commodity, and like any depreciated commodity, he's being taken to the glue factory and discarded. To live your whole life and purpose for that, it is truly fucking sad (and I say that without mocking pity), I don't wish that for anyone.
 
Kirk's murder did briefly serve Trump's purpose of deflecting from the Epstein files. And once he had that momentum going, he's bee able to use other distractions to keep it going, like Hegseth's absolutely ridiculous dressing down of the military's top brass, attempts to turn more blue cities into militarized zones, indicting James Comey, shutting down the government and blaming the Democrats, and having Mike Johnson recess Congress to avoid swearing in the new Democratic rep, who is thought to have the deciding vote on releasing the Epstein files.

Agents investigate cause of fire that destroyed judge’s home on South Carolina island​

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — State investigators are trying to find the cause of a fire that destroyed a judge’s home on a South Carolina island.

The Saturday blaze nearly burned to the ground the house listed in property records as owned by Circuit Judge Diane Goodstein on a remote part of Edisto Island, authorities said.

The State Law Enforcement Division confirmed Monday it is investigating the fire but has released no other details about a possible cause or the people in the home.

Local law enforcement is providing extra patrols and security as state agents investigate, Chief Justice John Kittredge said in a statement.

Three people were hurt in the blaze and one of them was taken by helicopter to the Medical University of South Carolina, according to Colleton County Fire-Rescue. The names of the people hurt were not released.

The house’s first floor is elevated from the ground and the injured had to jump to the ground. Several then had to be rescued by kayaks from the swampy back yard, the St. Paul’s Fire District said in a statement on social media.


Video from the fire department showed the home fully engulfed in flames. Drone photos taken over the scene later showed only a few charred wooden supports standing amid the blackened rubble.

Goodstein has been a state judge for 27 years, handling thousands of cases.


The General Assembly elects judges in South Carolina and when Goodstein last ran for her seat in 2022, the Judicial Merit Screening Commission noted her sterling reputation and temperament and called her as asset to the state.



Nearly two decades ago, Goodstein presided over a civil lawsuit that led to a $12 million settlement between victims of sexual abuse and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston.

She also presided in 2014 over a property dispute trial between the national Episcopal Church and the breakaway Diocese of South Carolina which spilt over theological differences, including the authority of Scripture and the ordination of gays.



Last month, Goodstein blocked the Election Commission in South Carolina from releasing voter data requested by the U.S. Department of Justice. Her restraining order was lifted about a week later by the state Supreme Court who said Goodstein failed to detail if the voter who sued would suffer irreparable harm or proved she was likely to win the suit on the merits.

State election officials said they are still working on an agreement with federal officials to make sure the privacy of the voter data is protected.
